Project - Much Anticipated ... Card Portfolio: Instructions by IrishMel21 posted 09/03/04 at 06:44 PM Galleries: Cardmaking Thanks to everyone who expressed interest … here are the directions. I'm trying to post pics of the template, but they may be too large. Stay tuned…
Card Portfolio Instructions:
*To make 6 cards (4 x 5½): Take 3 different designs of PP (the same theme from a line is best because you can mix & match). Cut those 3 pieces into 4x12. Take those 4x12 strips and cut then into the following sizes: (2) - 5/8“, (2) - 3 1/4”, (2) - 2 1/8“. You can then mix & match those designs up and assemble them onto the card how you like
*To make the portfolio: Pick a heavy cardstock (Bazzill is always good) that matches your PP choices. *The template dimensions are as follows: The overall size is 11 ½” height x 8 ½” wide. I’ll type out dimensions for the left side because the right side has the exact same dimensions. Top left corner: 2 ¼” height x 10/16” wide (this is the piece that will fold and attach to make the pocket). small section next: 2 ¼” height x 5/16” wide (this is the side of the pocket, not the binding, but the side where you open). Next section is the pocket: 2 ¼” height x 4 ½” wide (pocket where you put the cards/envelopes) Right below: 6/16” height x 4 ½” wide (this is the pocket bottom part of the portfolio). Below is the back of the portfolio: 6” height x 4 ½” wide (this is where you will attach your liner) The side sections to the left folds in: Cut this 6” height x 5/16” wide (you only need to fold on the dotted line further in. You don’t need to fold both of the in.) You will also make your xacto slit on that dotted line further in to insert your ribbon.
This template is upside down because I found it easier to trace & cut. Trace the template onto the back of the cardstock, and then cut it out. It’s also a good idea to tape your template onto your cardstock so it doesn’t move. Once you cut, score and fold, turn the template up to begin the assembly that will be easier to visualize. Make sure to cut out the side pieces to help fold in the sides and the pockets. You'll want to score where the dotted lines are because this will help you fold the sides down and the pockets up. Once everything is cut out and scored, you'll want to measure about 3” down on both sides and cut a slit with an xacto knife to put your ribbon in.
*To make the portfolio liner: Pick one of the PP design from one of three above, and cut it into 5 1/2“x9”. Once the portfolio is cut & scored, you will want to glue down the liner after you cut out the slits for the ribbon and after you fold the sides down.
Then embellish the outside and the cards any way that is pleasing to you |
