How I love this layout! I dig the little journaling blocks and the bright, bright colors - love!

This is just SOOO funky and bright! Love the collage of pix and the mix of fonts!!! My Mom is a principal but was a teacher for almost 30 years so I just smiled when I read your description! I STILL feel that summer's over once school starts...I guess having school-aged kids will do that!

I LOVE this layout! it's so happy and carefree. I have a hard time doing layouts like this, so I'm going to try and scrap-lift this one :)

Love this layout - it is so fun! The pictures are great. Loved reading your journaling too!

this is soooo awesome!!! I absolutely can relate to this subject, your journaling, and I JUST ADORE your style!!! :)

You have such a great bright, eclectic style. Love this!

In a teacher's household, the way to mark the beginning and end of summer has nothing to do with the solstice or a change in seasons. Summer starts when school ends for the year, and when school starts, summer ends – even if it is still July, as in my case. To say goodbye to summer, I created this “retrospective” layout, pulling together photos that reflect some of my favorite memories from the past two months. I know it's crazy and bright and kind of all over the place, but isn't that how the best summers are?

There is kind of a method to the madness. Next to each photo, I created mini-backgrounds for the journaling using mist, rub-ons, and/or stamps, and then over each of the backgrounds, I added a description relating to the photo, stamping one of the “key” words using Pebbles ABC stamps. Because there are double letters in that set, I could spell out entire words on my acrylic block and stamp them all at once, rather than having to stamp each letter individually.

This layout also illustrates my “play through” or “scrap through” philosophy. See that clock stamp at the top left? Notice the circle under it? Well, underneath that circle is a splotch created when one of my inked stamps accidentally fell there. No problem: scrap through. Why let a mishap ruin a layout? I added the circle and stamped the clock over it.

I will definitely miss the lazy days of summer, but at least now I can look forward to creating back-to-school layouts!

Thanks for looking!
