When I am faced with having to choose among papers that I love, and I just can't whittle down the choices to a few sheets, I simply just use them ALL by creating a collage background. I try to repeat each pattern or color at least three times, so that visual triangles are formed along the way, but I don't worry too much about precision when it comes to trimming each paper.

When I sat down to create this layout, I had a “spring” theme in mind. Here in Hawaii, however, the four seasons don't exactly have pronounced differences, and flowers are in bloom throughout the year. Making a traditional “spring” layout can be somewhat challenging. As I layered beautiful springy papers on this page, I thought, "What should I write in the journaling? It's always spring here." Then, looking at the photo, I realized that I wasn't creating a layout about spring itself; I was creating a layout about how, in love, it is always spring. Now that I look at the finished page, I realize that it was definitely worth putting off my journaling until the end. :)
