One of our summer traditions is a visit to the 50th State Fair each year at Aloha Stadium. Because I get horrible motion sickness on those creaky, bumpy, so-not-Disneyland rides, my husband usually goes on the rides with our daughter. This year, though, he couldn't come with us, but mother love prevailed over motion sickness. Ironically, it was my daughter who ended up nauseated at the end of the day, poor girl! We still had a blast, though.

I just love carnival photos. All of that color and energy is just so much fun to work with on a layout. After a day like that, it's tough to choose just ONE photo from so many, so I decided to create a multi-photo layout. For me, the secret to mega-multi-photo layouts (that is, those that incorporate five or more photos) is varying photo sizes, and working them into the layers of the page.

To create the button line, I loosely threaded string through each button, gluing down each button before adding another. When I added the blue twine later, I just looped it around a few buttons, adhering it with little dots of craft glue.

The journaling is printed on a 7Gypsies receipt, and tucked into a Smash pocket (who says they're just for Smash books, hmm?). I added actual ticket stubs from the fair as well.

Thanks for looking!
