When I saw this Penny Black stamp (featured on the bottom right of the layout), I fell in love with the paper airplanes and their loopy jetstreams. I added a bit of color to the stamp by filling in a few of the airplanes with watercolor pencils, and then I painted over the color with a thin paintbrush dipped in water.

I also included a paper airplane on my layout with a twine jetstream to accompany the stamp. Sad, but true fact: I just learned how to fold a paper airplane! How I survived elementary school without learning this crucial skill, I'll never know.

The stamp itself was the catalyst for this layout, but it ended up being the “Keep in Touch” sentiment that inspired the journaling. As my daughter enters her teens, she is processing more and more of the world on her own, and I'm not always there to be her filter. I want her to “keep in touch” with me, and to “keep in touch” with that part of herself that is hopeful and trusting. The world can be a hurtful place, but it is also filled with loving and beautiful souls.

The bluish tinge that you may notice in the title letters (for “you”) was created by misting over the BasicGrey letters.

Thanks for looking!
