Project - Rice Rice Baby
by Jill Sprott
As a freshman, my daughter was recently tasked with a monumental responsibility: parenting a five-pound bag of rice for a week. Initially, she wasn't thrilled about the project, but when she discovered that she was required to add a face to her “baby,” she decided to turn her baby into something that she wouldn't mind carrying around with her all the time. She added the face of Jon Snow from Game of Thrones (which she watches in “censored” form), and for a week, found a great deal of amusement in people's reactions.
Given the silly nature of the entire endeavor, I chose bright and playful papers and accents from the new Crate Paper and Amy Tangerine collections to use on this layout, and layered them on the page. I hand-cut the chevron paper and added adhesive dots behind it to give it a little extra pop. I also added label stickers to the page – “Love My Boy,” “Sweet Little One,” and “Family Portrait” – because they just plain crack me up when I look at them alongside these photos.
You may be pleased to know that Jon Snow has since been adopted by a food bank. :)
