Project - School Theme: First Week Back
by Jill Sprott
This week my daughter and I headed back to school, and along with all of the school supplies that I unloaded in my classroom was my trusty point-and-shoot camera. It's difficult to remember to take photos through the course of a busy school day, but after school, I was able to capture a few detail shots that represented some of the day's highlights.
I cropped each photo into a square, resizing the one of my daughter to 3“ x 3” (since it's my favorite) and the others to varying sizes. To start the layout, I split the photos into two groups and adhered them with (the cutest) washi tape (in the world) and a strip of dictionary paper, leaving space in between the rows for journaling. Before adding any writing, however, I misted over the negative spaces of a JBS die-cut paper, adding A-F as a backdrop for the journaling (since the letters correspond to days in our schedule). The same color is repeated on the “frame” of the page, which was created by placing a piece of cardstock trimmed to 11.5 x 11.5 over the layout and misting around it.
I took my cue for the journaling from the Ormolu flair. From the moment I saw it in the Two Peas store, I knew that I wanted to do a week-in-the-life page. Each section provides a few brief recollections of what we did each day during the first week of school.
Thanks for looking!
