Project - Fall Theme:
by Jill Sprott
Fall doesn't really exist here in Hawaii. The seasons are marked by variations in rainfall, and when it starts raining a little more often than usual, that, I suppose, is fall (as in, rainfall). Winter means even more rain. Still, there is a shift in the air and some other changes that mark this time of year for us, and I documented them on this layout.
Using Photoshop, I resized my photos to 2“ x 3” and arranged them in little duos. After printing them out, I stitched down the center of each pair, and then embellished them with red, orange, and yellow accents. I used badges galore, each of which relates to the photos and the season in some way. To create the “golden” apple, I used Mister Huey's Color Mists, starting with a light coat of Buttercup, followed by a quick spritz of Sherbet, and then one more coat of Buttercup. I wiped away the excess, and then swiped the little leaf at the top with a green paint dabber.
The journaling and the calendars (cut from a sheet of Studio Calico patterned paper) form two intersecting visual triangles. I surprised myself by hand-journaling here. I know that typed journaling would have been cleaner, but hand-journaling seems to have more of a homey feel.
Thanks for looking!
