This is one of my favorites. I love the colors and how they go with the photo. Makes me wish I was there in the water. Great job.

i am just new here... so when and where do we see the winner?

Love your layout and lifted it for NSD 2011!
I didn't have printed flowers so I made some of my own ;-)

Thank you for your inspiration!

This looks stunning. I would never have thought to use pastel colours for a beach theme layout. Your so clever, thanks for making me think of new ideas.

This is lovely.

Galleries: Scrapbooking

This week, your challenge is to take inspiration from something outside the scrapbooking world and put it use as you create a page, a card or other crafting project!

The cluster of flags behind the title of this layout were inspired by this party photo [pinksuedeshoe.com] from a blog called Pink Suede Shoe. I loved how her image of lots of little flags in different colours made me think of parties and cake and bubbly colours, even though the photo left a bit of mystery as to the occasion and the rest of the scene. So I cut paper flags in a variety of sizes and colours and layered them along the edge of a block of patterned paper to create this layout's detail. I also tried something inspired by the scrapbook world: designer Michelle Clement created some layouts with hand-stitching on top of the new foldies flower clusters from Sassafras and I loved the look so much I just had to give it a try. From those two elements that I borrowed from other inspiration sources, I added my own favourite design elements, like a block of patterned paper in the middle of the page, the kraft background cardstock and splashes of acrylic paint! (Incidentally, I decided I would scrap all the photos from this trip with kraft cardstock backgrounds but a variety of patterned papers so I would still have plenty of freedom with each layout, and so far - about ten layouts in - I am loving how they all look different but have that background colour in common.)

Okay, now it's your turn: head to some bookmarked or pinned images, something in a magazine, a scene from a movie, the cover from your favourite album or the pattern of your curtains - anything that inspires you from outside the scrapbooking world - and see what it causes you to create with paper! I can't wait to see what you make this week. Don't forget to tell us (or show us!) what inspired your layout in the description box!

Upload your layout by next Thursday at 11:59 PM CST for a chance to be entered into a drawing to win a $5 Two Peas gift certificate. The winner will be posted on the Garden Girl blog. Good luck!
