Challenge - Weekly Challenge | Be Inspired By . . . by amyheller posted 10/05/12 Galleries: Scrapbooking ART! This week your challenge is to find a piece of artwork of your choosing and create a project inspired by it! Remember, to upload your inspiration piece along with giving proper credit to your artist in your project comments. My layout was inspired by this stunning drawing by Joe Kievett (2nd image) found on Pinterest. I was drawn to the organic lines, the movement and the colors of this piece for my layout. I knew exactly which photo I was going to use with it for my layout - a funky hipster Instagram photo I took of my husband wearing his “george's” as we affectionately call 3D glasses in our house. I started by hand cutting the patterned paper that I wanted to use as my main focal point. Then I layered them across a straight edged piece of paper, and trimmed the excess. It should be noted that I went through a couple incarnations with these elements - first doodling the lines onto my patterned paper, just like in the art piece. That didn't work for me. Then once I had everything cut as I wanted, I also tried “writing” my journaling with alpha stickers along the wavy lines. I felt like that option was not authentic to the feel that I was trying to create, so after several tries, I came up with this final page. Morale of the story is: it's okay to take things apart and redo them! I do it all the time! :) So, what do you say!? Will you give this artistic springboard a go? I hope so! When you do, upload your layout by next Thursday at 11:59 PM CST for a chance to be entered into a drawing to win a $5 Two Peas gift certificate. The winner will be posted on the Garden Girl blog. Good luck! |
