Challenge - Sketch Challenge: Fish Upon Fish
by Jill Sprott
When it comes to putting together event layouts, I can never just choose a single photo from a collection of snapshots. For me, event layouts are synonymous with multi-photo layouts, as evidenced by this layout documenting my daughter's recent encounter with the hungriest fish I have ever seen. There's no way I could have just settled on a single photo!
This week's sketch challenge invites you to pull together five photos, bridging the gap between the three vertical and two horizontal pics with a title. There's room for journaling on the sides, as well as for accents on the bottom (or even under or next to the title). If using five photos seems a little unwieldy, why not narrow the number of photos to two or three by merging some of the photo blocks that you see on the sketch? Make it your own.
This layout came together quickly, which is one of the benefits of using a sketch. I began by shaking, uncapping, and dripping orange ink from an October Afternoon Jack-o'-Lantern Sprinkler across the page at a diagonal, and gathered the photos and accents over that. I placed patterned strips between the photos as well as under them, and sewed over them. I completed the layout by adding accents and label stickers (on which I printed the journaling).
I would love to see your take on this sketch! Be sure to upload your layout by next Friday for your chance to win a $5 gift certificate to the Two Peas store. Don't forget to check the challenge checkbox during uploading. The winner will be announced on the Two Peas blog next Saturday.
