This is adorable!!
I just love that you put her age and grade and how tall and shoe size...such a cute idea. Jamie is right...you are "genius"!!!
the numbers and use of ruler...the horizontal stripes in her shirt next to the striped ledger-all of your cool clusters - your color choices - genius! and yes, that's the word i'm choosing. i know if i told you this in real life you'd say "genius? really?". ;) i thought about it and picked the perfect word. okay, i'm done now.
Video - Kristina's Picks 9.3.10 (Today:)
My kids started school this week…. which as usual is a great and exciting event but then also an event filled with anxiety. I took these photos this week, with the intention of documenting the numbers of this day for my daughter. It was her first day of 5th grade, her last year as an elementary school student.
I have been looking at the School Spirit Collection [twopeasinabucket.com] from Crate Paper every day since it arrived. I knew when I ordered it that I was going to love using it. Its not bright, not the primary colors of usual school collections. Its vintage, distressed, more muted colors, not childish but also not geared towards teens. Its just right down the middle. No big icons, no owls, nothing like that, just a good old fashioned school collection. It works perfectly for me.
I like that these papers are double sided, with one side being textured, and the other smooth. I like that there are the busy patterns and then the more basic and muted patterns. You know how I like to mix them up and use the more basic muted patterns for most of the composition while throwing in bits of the more busy patterns.
I love the stickers and other embellishments that coordinate with the collection. There is a great set of border stickers, and another set with labels, journaling spots, date stickers, tabs, random sayings, etc. And there is a lot to each sheet, so you can use this sheet over and over again, and create a lot of different layouts. There are chipboard icons, rub ons, a 6x6 paper pad (which has the same size design as the regular papers, just cut up into smaller pieces, not a reduced size pattern).
There are not letter stickers with this collection, so I pulled several different ones from other manufacturers to go with this.
We just received these new chipboard numbers from Sassafras yesterday and I snagged them real quick, as I thought the color went great with this layout. I also used a Thicker Sticker from American Crafts, several stickers from Basic Grey, Studio Calido and even a few October Afternoon and Doodlebug Designs.
