Video - Seeing Double: Oh Happy Day by bluestardesign posted 01/25/13 Galleries: Scrapbooking, Cardmaking Welcome to this week's Seeing Double video! Today I'll show you how to create both a background for a layout and dimensional embellishments for a card using the Fiskars Quilt Star punch. Even though my photos feature my kids on Christmas morning, I've selected the Crate Paper Fourteen collection to use on my scrapbook page. The colors in this line (along with a few other I threw in!) really coordinate well with my photos, which contain decidedly non-Christmas colors of yellow, pink, and red. The background for my page was created by punching multiple papers and aligning the punched shapes in a loose grid. This design would work well with just about any shape - circles, hearts, squares or stars! Because I had punched extra quilt stars for my page, I had plenty left over to create a card. I've layered them with punched vellum, stapled the bundle together, and then folded each layer to form a 3D starburst. Strung on a bit of baker's twine, they make an ideal simple adornment for a Valentine's card. CHALLENGE: Pull out one (or several!) of your punches and incorporate the shapes into a both background AND and an embellishmen. Upload your projects to the correct challenge gallery for a chance to win a 2Peas Gift Certificate. Challenge ends in one week. |
