Great explanation of white space...I learned tons that I wil incorporate into my future pages.
Great video as always with lots of useful information.
@boris153 - it's not just you. Bringing that middle embellishment down closer to the washi tape would be a stronger design choice, but there were a few very minor elements that led me to a compromise and I pushed it up, which leaves some trapped space in the form of that aqua between the red and the tape. :)
Shimelle, thanks for another great video, and a fantastic explanation of white space. I hate to be picky, and it might not be technically white space. And besides maybe I'm just weird - but I find my eye falling off the diagonal line, and into that box of aqua - in between the middle red element and the washi tape below. Is it just me?

Fantastic explanation of trapped white space - wish I would've thought of that idea with the cut apart pieces on a black surface when teaching my page editors back in my days on high school newspaper staff. It was so obvious that the holes were awkward when viewed that way! I would also like to point out in case it was just so subtle that anyone missed it - another reason the eye finds the final arrangement (when the "your journey has..." sticker was added) so pleasing is that the remaining white space mirrors the block created by the journaling - it's just wonderful!
Love the layout and all the great info. Most of us can tell when a design just doesn't look right without knowing why. You just gave us some of the possible whys. THANKS.
Thanks Shimelle, you never disappoint.
Shimelle, thank you so much for this very thoughtful and thorough episode explaining what is a very confusing concept! I know I will benefit from it and it will make me more mindful in my design (I know occasionally I will still stray!!).
Well done! I have misinterpreted the idea of "white space" for years. Thank you Glitter Girl for providing such a clear and yet entertaining example of a design concept. I'm off to put it to use. Karen M.
Brilliant! I was going to ask you about how to overcome trapped space once you've done it, and loved the suggestions you gave. Thanks for an awesome video, love the depth and solutions. Great layout too!
this is the best video i have seen on trapped white space, what an amazing teacher your are. Another question you answered for me is what to do when i have a regular 4X6 picture and smaller picture, i always struggle with how to place them and this gave me some ideas. Beautiful LO!
So much to think about! I took notes and will study this some more. Your l/o is terrific as always and I truly like the way you did your title. Thanks for doing a double adventure for us. Maria
This is the best discussion and video on white space and design I have ever seen. Awesome video!
I really enjoyed this video and your explanations on White space! I understand much better now. I like the title running up the side, because the path your hubby id following is also going up a hill... and because you put the journaling in that trapped space, it balanced things...
I love the red pops of color creating a diagonal line. Beautiful layout!
