Video - Seeing Double: Let Your Heart Be Light
Galleries: Scrapbooking, Cardmaking
For this month's Seeing Double video, I wanted to use hand-stitching on my projects. I am not the most experienced at hand-stitching, but I think it adds a nice, home-made touch to your projects. In my layout, I used the Two Peas in a Bucket November digital cut file as a stencil for adding holes for stitching. I balanced the heavy title with my photo and layers on the opposite side of the page. Adding the Two Peas in a Bucket printable “Christmas Countdown” was my inspiration for adding the different chipboard numbers from the Maggie Holmes “Flea Market” line. I also used some mist for depth to my background. For little accents, I added some washi tape, word stickers, and puffy stickers.
To add hand-stitching to my card, I used simple lines to create a triangle tree shape. After adding the green embroidery floss, I used sequins to “decorate” the tree, and added another cut file from the November Two Peas digital files for my sentiment.
CHALLENGE: Try to use hand-stitching on your projects! You do not need to be an expert. I am definitely a newbie at it, but I love the end result. You can hand-draw your own guides, or use stencils to add either accents or bold statements. I'm looking forward to seeing your projects in the gallery, and don't forget to check the challenge checkbox during upload to be entered into the draw!
