Welcome to Stamptoberfest 2009!

This year, Stamptoberfest will begin Saturday, October 17 and continue through Sunday, October 25. That will give working Peas two full weekends to play. After that, Hangover Week Challenges will begin on Monday the 26th for those who just did not get enough during Stamptoberfest!

If you're new to our board, here are links to our previous events so you can get an idea of what to expect:
Worldwide Stamping Weekend 2007
Stamptoberfest 2007
WinterStamp 2008
Worldwide Stamping Week 2008
Stamptoberfest 2008
Winterfest 2009

DETAILS ABOUT HOW OUR EVENTS WORK

1. Opening Day is Saturday, October 17. On Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16, hosts and hostesses will post their challenge threads and blog posts giving the details for participating in their challenges. Even if the host has indicated a theme beforehand, be sure to check the challenge thread for complete instructions. Don't start early! Wait for the last-minute directions. (Some hosts will be adding a twist to their instructions to be sure you do not start ahead!) This Master Thread will have links to both the challenge threads AND blog posts.
2. Upload your work to the stamping gallery. If you are new to posting, see the end of this original post for instructions.
3. Be sure to check the correct boxes under Member Challenges when you post. If you do this, your piece is automatically linked to the blog post.
4. Do not link to projects completed previously; we want to see your new creations!
5. A single project may apply to multiple challenges unless the host says otherwise in his/her instructions.
6. Throughout the week, keep an eye on the stamping board for chatty challenges (some with RAK's) that will appear during Stamptoberfest 09!
7. You can start uploading projects once Two Peas has the checkboxes available in the Member Challenges section. Two Peas is located in the CST Time Zone so the check boxes will open and close according to that time zone. (When you post to the gallery, look for that link and see if Stamptoberfest 09 (SOF09) items are listed. If not, you're too early.)
8. Ask questions! During the event we will have a Trouble-Shooting Thread, but feel free to ask things here for right now.

HINTS AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING
Click on the magnifying glass below this thread's title to add it to your watch list. Then you'll be able to access it quickly by clicking on My Watch List in the sidebar to the left of your screen.

Here's a link to a Trouble-Shooting Thread. If your question isn't answered in the how-to sections below, post your questions and frustrations there. I hope everyone will check in from time to time to answer questions.

Posting Links in Blog, Message Board, and Gallery

Broken or Missing Links: How to Find What You're Looking For

How to Find The List of Blogs Offering Challenges

In Case of a Two Pea Outage: Save the blog entries to the challenges that interest you the most on your computer. That way you'll have the instructions if Two Peas becomes overwhelmed with the increased traffic caused by our event. We sometimes lose contact with Two Peas on Opening Day for a little while. Just keep checking back. If you have saved some of the challenges, you'll be able to work on the challenges while waiting for the board to revive. During our last event, Two Peas worked perfectly.

ABOUT POSTING A CHALLENGE IN YOUR BLOG
Don't let the word blog scare you away. We're not talking about a BLOG with all the bells and whistles. We're talking about a little blog. We all have one here on Two Peas. Posting there is much the same as posting in a thread.
1. At the top of the screen, just above the big title that says Message Board is a row that starts out with the word MY followed by the words Account, Content, Blog, etc.. Click on Blog.
2. Put in the title of your Challenge. Begin with SOF09. That way all Stamptoberfest Challenge Boxes will be together, and participants will be able to find them easily.
3. The next line says Post Type. Click on the down arrow, and select Challenge.
4. After selecting Challenge, another line will open up. This is where you put the starting date (10/17/2009) and the ending date (10/25/2009). Actually, when you go to the blank space to input the date, a calendar will open up and you can just click on the correct date.
5. Now, in the box under "Post Content," just write out your challenge. If the board is slow, wait for the Content Box to open. Start out with the opening and closing dates because the dates you just submitted only tell Two Peas when to open and close your challenge's checkbox. The people reading your challenge won't see those dates.
6. If you posted samples in the gallery, you can link them here. Also it's a good idea to put in a link to your challenge thread.
7. When you post your challenge thread on the message board, include a link to your blog. Use the URL for your challenge, not for the opening page of the blog. If you are in the right place, you'll see "You are viewing a single post. Click here to visit ___'s Blog." right above the box with your message. If you don't see that message, then click on the title of your challenge to take you to that page.

ABOUT POSTING IN THE GALLERY
1. First go to the STAMPING gallery.
2. On the left, you will see a link under Browse called UPLOAD A NEW PROJECT. Click on that link.
3. Follow the step-by-step directions.
4. Give your project a title. For Stamptoberfest 2009, put SOF09 at the start of your title and include what challenge it's for. For example, SOF09: Serendipity Challenge.
5. Be sure to describe your project in the comments section. If possible, include the source of your stamps. Tell what coloring medium and technique you used.
6. Once you have posted your project in the Stamping Gallery, go to the challenge thread and post a link to your gallery post; this will put the challenge thread back to the top of the board and assure that it doesn't drop out of sight. This step will keep the challenge threads circulating. The Challenge Thread is also the place to ask questions and to chat with other participants about the challenge.

**CHALLENGES**

Hosts and Hostesses: I will post your challenge here as I find out about them. Let me know if I should delete or add your name. If you have a theme in mind or supplies and tools people will need to participate in your challenge, let me know and I'll add them to this list. You can leave a message on this thread or the one that asked if there was any interest in Stamptoberfest this year. Remember you don't have to offer a RAK in order to host a challenge.

Participants: Be sure to check the discussion threads and blogs for complete details on each challenge.

Mimi, the blog is super-easy. I put directions somewhere on this master thread. Don't post it until Thursday or Friday before Opening Day. (Am I beginning to sound like a broken record?)

I can hardly wait to see your ornaments. I'll be doing this challenge for sure.

Cool idea, Ann. The question about glitter on cards being sent overseas keeps coming up. I read the thread that was recently posted here and read the information on the Operation Write Home (formerly Cards For Heros) website.

Hi, everybody.

I'll be away Sunday, Oct. 4 through Monday, Oct. 12. If you'd like to host a challenge, just leave your name here or pea-mail me. If I can get to a computer while I'm gone, I'll update the Master Thread. If I can't, I'll update it as soon as I get back.

I'm not even gone, and I'm looking forward to getting back for Stamptoberfest!

I've posted my challenge now. Sorry if it was a bit late, I wanted to do it yesterday evening, but was so exhaused that I fell asleep really early (and I usually tend to be an evening person, so early is rare).

I am so looking forward working on all the challenges! But first we need to go out and try to find a new washing machine.

Thanks everyone for hosting such great challenges!

Hi Daria,
I've been reading some of the lists you made accessible to all of us so I just wanted to thank you personally for all the hardwork and patience. I had so much fun doing this challenge for the first time last year with no preparation at all and I am hoping to join again this year if time permits. And all of it will be a tribute to you and to all who made this fest possible.
Thanks again.

I think i will be a "looky lou" on this one since i am not too confident on stamping yet. But will look forward to seeing all the neat challenges.
