In 2007, Sandy (colourful) hosted our first World-Wide Stamping Weekend (WSW) event, and it really did last a weekend. In 2008, it lasted a full week. This year it will last nine days, including two weekends. I thought it commemorated a real event, but now I'm not so sure since I can't find it mentioned anywhere but here. I think Sandy made it up. In honor of Sandy who made this event open to everyone in the world who wanted to participate, let's keep the name for this summer's event.

As always, I want to thank Sandy for sending me her SOF 2008 word document that showed me how to put together these master threads. I do keep changing the original document so if you see errors here, please let me know. If you want to thank someone for the organization, track down Sandy!

Welcome to World-Wide Stamping Weekends 2011!

This year, World-Wide Stamping Weekends will begin Saturday, June 11 and continue through Sunday, June 19. That will give working Peas two full weekends to play. After that, Hangover Week Challenges will begin on Monday, June 20, for those who just did not get enough during World-Wide Stamping Weekends (WSW)!

If you're new to our board, here are links to our previous events so you can get an idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, the links in the oldest threads are no longer operable, but you can still see the Master Threads and get ideas. They are a part of our history so I'm including them.

ETA: For a way to see some of those old threads, check out the third post in the Trouble-Shooting Thread.

DETAILS ABOUT HOW OUR EVENTS WORK

1. Opening Day is Saturday, June 11. On Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10, hosts and hostesses will post their challenge threads and blog posts giving the details for participating in their challenges. Even if the host has indicated a theme beforehand, be sure to check the challenge thread for complete instructions. Don't start early! Wait for the last-minute directions. (Some hosts will be adding a twist to their instructions to be sure you do not start ahead!) This Master Thread will have links to both the challenge threads AND blog posts.
2. Upload your work to the stamping gallery. If you are new to posting, see the end of this original post for instructions.
3. Be sure to check the correct boxes under Member Challenges when you post. If you do this, your piece is automatically linked to the blog post.
4. Do not link to projects completed previously; we want to see your new creations!
5. A single project may apply to multiple challenges unless the host says otherwise in his/her instructions. Deborah (Gram-pea) is still the champion of combining challenges.
6. Throughout the week, keep an eye on the stamping board for chatty challenges (some with RAK's) that will appear during World-Wide Stamping Weekends 2011!
7. You can start uploading projects once Two Peas has the checkboxes available in the Member Challenges section. Two Peas is located in the CST Time Zone so the check boxes will open and close according to that time zone. (When you post to the gallery, look for that link and see if World-Wide Stamping Weekends 2011 (WSW11) items are listed. If not, you're too early.)
8. Ask questions! During the event we will have a Trouble-Shooting Thread, but feel free to ask things here for right now.

HINTS AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING
Click on the magnifying glass below this thread's title to add it to your watch list. Then you'll be able to access it quickly by clicking on My Watch List in the sidebar to the left of your screen.

Trouble-Shooting Thread
If your question isn't answered in the how-to sections below, post your questions and frustrations in the Trouble-Shooting Thread. I hope everyone will check in from time to time to answer questions.

Posting Links in Blog, Message Board, and Gallery

Broken or Missing Links: How to Find What You're Looking For

How to Find The List of Blogs Offering Challenges

In Case of a Two Pea Outage: Save the blog entries to the challenges that interest you the most on your computer. That way you'll have the instructions if Two Peas becomes overwhelmed with the increased traffic caused by our event. We sometimes lose contact with Two Peas on Opening Day for a little while. Just keep checking back. If you have saved some of the challenges, you'll be able to work on them while waiting for the board to revive. During our most recent events, Two Peas worked perfectly--except last time!

ABOUT POSTING A CHALLENGE IN YOUR BLOG
Don't let the word blog scare you away. We're not talking about a BLOG with all the bells and whistles. We're talking about a little blog. We all have one here on Two Peas. Posting there is much the same as posting in a thread.
1. At the top of the screen, just above the big title that says Message Board is a row that starts out with the word MY followed by the words Account, Content, Blog, etc.. Click on Blog.
2. Put in the title of your Challenge. Begin with WSW11. That way all World-Wide Stamping Weekends Challenge Boxes will be together, and participants will be able to find them easily.
3. The next line says Post Type. Click on the down arrow, and select Challenge.
4. After selecting Challenge, another line will open up. This is where you put the starting date (06/11/11) and the ending date (06/19/11). Actually, when you go to the blank space to input the date, a calendar will open up and you can just click on the correct date. Note: It's never too late to start a challenge, so if you get an idea for a challenge in the middle of World-Wide Staming Weekends, go ahead and post it. You can also post a challenge for just a day or two; just change the dates accordingly.
5. Now, in the box under "Post Content," just write out your challenge. If the board is slow, you might have to wait for the Content Box to open. Start out with the opening and closing dates because the dates you just submitted only tell Two Peas when to open and close your challenge's checkbox. The people reading your challenge won't see those dates.
6. If you posted samples in the gallery, you can link them here. Also it's a good idea to put in a link to your challenge thread.
7. When you post your challenge thread on the message board, include a link to your blog. Use the URL for your challenge, not for the opening page of the blog. If you are in the right place, you'll see "You are viewing a single post. Click here to visit ___'s Blog." right above the box with your message. If you don't see that message, then click on the title of your challenge to take you to that page.

ABOUT POSTING IN THE GALLERY

1. To post your project, put your cursor over MEMBER GALLERY at the top of the screen. Select the option UPLOAD A NEW PROJECT. (The edit option is now in the left sidebar.)
2. Follow the step-by-step directions. Be sure to select Stamping Gallery.
3. Give your project a title. For World-Wide Stamping Weekends 2011, put WSW11 at the start of your title and include what challenge it's for. For example, WSW11: Serendipity Challenge.
4. Be sure to describe your project in the comments section. If possible, include the source of your stamps. Tell what coloring medium and technique you used.
5. Once you have posted your project in the Stamping Gallery, go to the challenge thread and post a link to your gallery post; this will put the challenge thread back to the top of the board and assure that it doesn't drop out of sight. This step will keep the challenge threads circulating. The Challenge Thread is also the place to ask questions and to chat with other participants about the challenge.

**EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA**

Watch this spot for links to chatty challenges, games, drive-by challenges, etc. Anyone can post at thread to get a game started.

**CHALLENGES**

Hosts and Hostesses: I will post your challenge here as I find out about them. Let me know if I should delete or add your name. If you have a theme in mind or supplies and tools people will need to participate in your challenge, let me know and I'll add them to this list. You can leave a message on this thread. Remember you don't have to offer a RAK in order to host a challenge.

It's never too late to post a challenge. If you decide you'd like to post one for just a day or two or half-way through the week, go ahead and post it. Leave a message on this thread with a link if you can, and I'll add it to the list as soon as I see it.

Here's a message from Jamie:

Hi Peas! It looks like you have a fun event ahead of you! I would be happy to make it so that when a member uploads to your challenge, they earn a badge count. I need your help by having you peamail me the link to your challenge. The link is important as it contains the blog post ID, which is what the system wants from me when I add the challenge to the badge-earning criteria.

Participants: Be sure to check the discussion threads and blogs for complete details on each challenge. Also, when you participate in a challenge, leave a message on the Challenge Thread with a link to your gallery post so that the challenge thread goes back to the top of the board. It's good to keep the challenge threads rotating on the board. Let's keep them on page 1!

***I'm putting in the codes for posting the links beforehand. When the link is live, it will be in bold print.

WTG, Daria! Do you want us hosts to share here a name or bit about our party challenges? I'm not worried about duplicate challenges since each of us usually has a different spin on everything.

Hi, Daniel. You can share a name for your challenge as soon as you want to. Also, if a special tool or material will be needed, it's a good idea to give advance notice of that.

I suggest withholding the details of the challenge until the challenge blogs are posted the Thursday or Friday before the event begins.

The names of your challenges always crack me up, Daniel! I like to wonder and guess at what the challenge could be. I don't think you'll ever have to worry about a duplicate challenge being posted.

I'll be out and about over the weekend, but I'll keep checking in to update this thread. Maybe I'll even think of something for my own challenge.

Thank you for posting this Daria! It is going to be lots of fun!

I'll host a challenge, but I still need to think about what the topic will be. Sometime ago I wrote a note with some challenge ideas, but I have no idea where that note is now, so I am going to think of something new.

We're coming along with hosts! I started a separate thread to encourage others to 'be not afraid'. We have lots of new & returning StamPeas who really want to host, but they need a bit of encouragement--aka 'smack upside the head'.

Hope my fellow hosts--takes too much time to type hostess & abbreviating to 'ho' is declasse these days...--will post their willingness to 'mentor' another StamPea host...

One week from today, the party begins!

We'll be posting the challenge details on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this week. Get ready to play!

Don't forget that anyone can post a challenge anytime during the event. So if you think of a challenge during the week, go ahead and post it; just change the beginning date. The more the merrier!

I'm still thinking about what my challenge will be. I have a couple of ideas rattling around, but I haven't decided yet.

For those who already know what their challenge will be? How're you doing with samples & blogs? Still working on my samples, but making progress. Might start tackling the blog today--I can always edit...

Daniel, I thought of a great title for a challenge, but I'm not sure it's the challenge I want to offer. I just saw something on one of Godelieve's blog posts that gave me a super idea for a challenge. I'll think it over for a day. This may be it!

Unfortunately, I am in the midst of a major remodel project at home. Most of my stamping supplies are boxed and tons of other boxes are blocking my access and so I will not be able to host my usual technique challenge nor play as much as usual. But I will host a challenge called Double Score. See you on Friday.

Jan, I can't imagine having all my craft supplies all boxed up and out of reach. Well, truthfully, I can't imagine the work involved in boxing it all up and then unpacking it. Thank you for offering a challenge. Even if you can't play, I hope you'll have lots of computer time with us during WSW.

Maria, enjoy that trip. We'll miss you this time around. I hope you can manage to play with us a bit. (See you for Stamptoberfest!)

@Jan - Sorry to hear your crafty supplies are out of reach. I can't imagine living through a remodel - especially one in Alaska! I imagine that there is only a short window to get major work done. Good luck!

Got one of my samples done & sending by snail mail to a friend who'll scan it for me. Hoping to do another & get it in the mail today.

Tomorrow, Thursday, is the day to start posting Challenge Blogs & Discussion Threads. Just remember to make the beginning date Saturday, June 11, so Two Peas will open the challenge boxes in the gallery on that date. No one will be able to post a project to a challenge until the challenge box opens.

I have names for a couple of challenges and ideas for a couple more. Still, I haven't decided.

Are you all ready to party?

I'll post my challenge tomorrow, I hope that is okay. I am still working on my sample cards and I want to be able to take photos of them when it is light tomorrow morning. I can't think of a fun title for my challenge.

Anne, that's such a cool idea! This is the first time we've had a challenge like yours.

Ann and Anna-Karin, don't worry! I just tell people they can start posting today because that way I can update the Master Thread little by little, and everything will be ready Saturday morning for early starters. You will notice that I haven't even chosen my challenge yet. We are not late!

Thanks, Daria!

I can't offer any help with naming. I'm not too good at it. I always call one of my brothers for help - he is the person that I know who would be most likely to come up with a good band name, and he's good at naming other stuff, too.

Daria-I created a blog template for my challenge-WSW11 Double Score and will fill it in Friday or Saturday morning. In the meantime you can link to the specific post at http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/userblogpost.asp?id=53040
As Jamie requested I pea-mailed her the address too.

Daria as always your attention to all the details is greatly appreciated!

I'm so glad you said something, Jan, about sending Jamie Sorenson a link! I would have totally missed her post requesting challenge hosts and hostesses to PeaMail her otherwise!

(P.S. I've PeaMailed my links to Jamie Sorenson too.)

Here is my challenge! The name of my challenge is Water World. Please make a new card having to do with any kind of water. This might be the beach, lake, river, bathtub, sprinkler, etc! It has been soooooo hot here and not much rain that I will love to see all your water projects! Please have at least one stamped image on your card, not just a saying, and one technique. Please tell us about the technique you used. I will choose a name to win a prize. Here is my sample. The technique I used was -- I took Tattered Angels Seaside masks and laid them on my card. I used Lettuce Adirondack color wash and Tattered Angel Dragonfly Glimmer Mist and lightly sprayed over the masks to make a water scene background. The challenge will start June 11 and go through June 19.

Thank you, ladies. I've linked your blogs and discussion threads to the Master Thread.

Anne, thank you for linking Jamie's message. I just copied and pasted it into the directions for hosts/hostesses above. I hope that helps people see it.

Jan, I like your idea of making a "blog template" for your challenge. If new Peas want to get an idea of what to do, that would be a good place to look since it's a skeleton view of a challenge blog. I really like your instructions to participants--very clear, and item #3 will keep the discussion thread rotating to the top of the board.

Laura, that's a great inspiration piece; the colors are going have people making Fourth of July cards this year!

Stampwilly, your challenge is such a cool (and wet) one. LOL. Your sample card is beautiful, and you used one of my favorite techniques. I'm so glad you're asking participants to use a technique and describe it.

Just so everybody knows, you don't need to post your challenge on this thread. You do need to create a challenge blog and a discussion thread. The directions are in this master thread. If anyone needs help with this, just Pea-mail me or another Pea and/or ask a question on the Trouble-Shooting Thread. The blogs are very easy to do, and they are necessary so that participants can link their projects to your challenge. Jamie also needs the blog's URL so she can link the WSW2011 badge to your challenge.

Now I'm getting excited. I need to make a final decision so I can post my stuff!

My challenge finally has a name, it is called Layers of Ink. A big thank you to Jan for suggesting a whole bunch of titles for my challenge! I choose one of her suggestions.

I am so happy to see such fun challenges being posted! I will check everything out carefully tomorrow, it is getting a bit late here now.

Terrific challenge, Anna-Karin. You had me with just the title. LOL.
Your samples are beautiful.
