I've met famous or well-known people like singers, actors, authors, and athletes. One funny instance is that I hung out with Erik Estrada at an event one day and got hugs and kisses from him (he is a randy one!). But I don't know anyone famous on a personal level nor am I related to anyone famous. Bummer

How about you?

If you can't name names, just give us a hint what industry they're in or something.

I don't know if this counts.... but my hubby went to school for years with Kevin Harvick. They lived in the same neighborhood. They had play dates and hung out in middle school and high school. Hubby was a year older so he graduated and moved away and now that Kevin is famous they don't talk!

A reknowned Candian author is a close family friend.

My ds plays on the same hockey team as two NHL players kids. We usually don't get to see much of them during the season but this year they have been to pretty much everything, games pratices, breakfasts, dinners and tournaments.

My friend's uncle is a very very famous character actor.

Erik was. I was a certified car seat tech and he appeared at a car seat event I worked. Other times were mostly "fan" things - book signings, concerts, baseball games, etc. I also lived in LA where you run into lots of celebs.

That's neat about your friend's uncle. If I were an actor, I almost think I'd rather be a character one where you got to act but not be attacked by the paparazzi, etc.

My husband's uncle's wife's nephew was a minor league baseball player. He thought he was a lot better than he apparently is, LOL.

I'm jealous of all the people I know on Facebook who are getting pictures with Juliette Lewis and George Clooney. And then the people who are close enough to take a pic of Julia Roberts. They're all working in my area on that August: Osage County movie and I haven't seen any of them yet OOOOHHH The perils of having a full time job, LOL

I don't know her now, but Emma Stone (used to be Emily) ran in the same circle of friends while we were growing up doing youth theatre in AZ. Fun fact: We were both nominated for a state theatre award in, I think 2001. She won for being a stepsister in Cinderella. We are facebook friends, but she never posts anything ever.

I went to high school with someone who is a writer for a very popular TV show.

Little Oscar was a family friend from church -- he rode around in the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. Two of my kids were fortunate to meet him before he passed away.

DH went to college with Dann and Dave Florek.

When I was a little girl, I occasionally played with Roseanne Barr because our mothers were friends. I haven't seen her since we were 13, and haven't talked to her since then, either.

So I can't really claim to know her now. Just a long time ago. And it was only because our moms were friends.

My turn. I don't know if this counts or not...I babysat one of the contestants on The Bachelorette Season 1 many moons ago. He was a cute chubby kid and would pick on his little sister relentlessly. He was also quite the drama king.

When it was announced in our local news that he would be on the show, my SIL and brother both called me to say, "Guess what? So-and-so is going to be on this show.". I had so much fun telling them, "Yes. And I knew him when because I babysat him." They were both like . It was a riot.

I'm loving hearing these stories from the other Peas.

No. Not yet. But someone I've known for a while is pursuing an acting and singing career in LA, and I am certain she will be famous before too long.

She has a significant role on The Mentalist for the next two shows. I don't watch it (and I don't have tv service), but I believe her character is rather a surprise.

Watching her career develop is pretty exciting.

Yes.

The first one is infamous not famous, and probably won't mean anything to the non-UK peas. I was once friends with Maxine Carr, girlfriend of the Soham murderer. Long before that, of course.

The other is not actually famous, but their name is all around the world. Anyone who has an iPhone or iPad with the Facebook app on it has my brother's name on their device!!

Oh, almost forgot one, probably the closest to real fame. My husband is distantly related to the violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn.

My dad is close personal friends with a man who was the executive secretary of the Paint Horse association for 26 years. In the Paint Horse circles, he would be very famous.

The Sons of the San Joaquin (a cowboy band) ate ice cream at my house after a performance a few years ago. In cowboy music, they're one of the top acts.

Joel Nelson, a pretty well-known cowboy poets, loves my gingersnap cookies.

My BIL is friends with Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top).

My friend has a friend whose sister is married to Eddie Van Halen. That probably doesn't count though...

My cousin is married to a TV and movie producer. They are friends with Billy Crystal.

A friend of mine was on CNBC as a financial consultant recently.

So no, no one I know, just other people.

Don't know any and not related to any. In fact I haven't even met any really. The closest was back in the 80's my best friend convinced me to go to the mall as some soap actor was doing an appearance. I don't remember his name, but I think he was one of Erica's husbands on All My Children.

And once when I was pretty young, we were eating at a Big Boy and we saw Robert Reed from the Brady Bunch and the lady who played the secretary on Beverly Hillbilly's. I was SO excited as I loved the Brady Bunch and wanted to go up to Robert Reed and say hi, but my mom wouldn't let me interrupt their meal. They were in town doing a local theater.

Oh and I once saw Jesse Jackson when he was giving a speech on the college campus where I work. I wasn't even there to listen to the speech but worked in the building he was giving the speech in front of and was coming back from lunch and walked pretty near where they had him waiting. My coworker once saw John Edwards when he was there for something similar, but it was before he was very well known on the national scene and she was able to go up and talk to him. Once his affair came out she was disgusted she had even been impressed with him and shook his hand!

I went to the same high school as Katie Holmes. My parents are friends with her parents. Her cousin sang at my wedding.

Jeff Daniels lives a few towns from me. His niece played basketball against my daughter's school. I used to see him at the games...not that I "know" him. He used to sit in the bleachers all alone with a cowboy hat on. No one paid him any attention directly, but we always looked for him in the stands.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have a lake house on our lake. It's fun to see them out and about.

I think this person would fall under the infamous people.

I use to babysit for this couple who lived in my neighborhood were I grew up. She had an affair with a young boy and she talked him into shooting her husband. They convicted them both for the murder. It was a movie of the week along time ago. I was shocked when I saw it on T.V. She later died in prison. Her sister was a friend of mine.

There is an actor who was on a long running tv show (Ally McBeal), and now pops up in movies and tv shows. I recently saw him playing a judge on Drop Dead Diva, and he is in an upcoming movie with Kevin James (the one about the school, he plays the principal).

Anyway, I grew up across the street from him - we went to middle and high school together, and he was the first boy I ever had a "make out session" with! So weird to see him on the big screen. And I read his bio - it's hilarious that he lies about his age - I KNOW how old he is!

I've gotten to know him fairly well - its fun to go hang out on the tour bus when they come to town. DH got to tour with the Beat and Hootie and the Blowfish in '92 and he has some wild stories from that.

two of my cousins were on TV in the 80's. One dated an actress and she ended up on my soap opera (AMC) at the time. That was strange since I knew her at home and then would watch her on TV. LOL!! None of them are "famous" now though. But I did babysit for a very famous TV host who was also the best friend of the same cousin. He has really done well and made it big. I only babysat for him a time or two.

My son is on a lacrosse team with the son of a reality TV star/daughter of a celebrity. The mom/TV personality is really nice and friendly, totally the opposite of what you would expect. She travels a long distance, relatively speaking, to bring her son to practices and games. She totally helped me out when my son fainted in goal.

He has also been on teams with movie directors' kids.

Totally not a big deal- they are people like us,

My family once bought a car from a now-retired MLB pitcher.

He's very nearly famous now...my friend Michael Ray is on the CW show "The Next" (which is on tonight if you want to check him out!)He's a country singer.

Nelly told him on the show last week that he is the "it with the first two letters in front of it" and John Rich (his mentor) asked if someday Big and Rich could open for him.
