The only thing that could explain that statement after reading this article is, 'oh, they meant to start with "You know they're a redneck if...".

Seriously?!? The levels of wrong are many.

That is just all kinds of wrong.

And they have to "consider" coming back? Seriously?

I was shocked they were allowed to reopen. The judgement they showed was SO POOR!

They "don't know"? Like they aren't sure that a restaurant that would bring in a deer off the highway to serve to customers would not be enough to avoid that place FOREVER?

I know of no Chinese restaurant that has ever offered venison. How could they possibly use it? And to bring the entire carcass into a place where food is currently being prepared? Major health risk and of course violation.

a restaurant that would bring in a deer off the highway
or a raccoon, or a possum, or a porcupine, or a...

The possibilities here are pretty numerous.

Venison is very similar in looks and taste to beef, but much leaner and healthier. But I've never seen it on a menu either.

I thought they were using it for prviate consumption, as in, for their own family.

At first, I thought it was going to be cats. (Hill Street Blues reference.)

When I was in college there was this place near campus called Jake's Pizza that got busted for having a dead dog in their freezer. Forever after, we referred to that place as having the "best pupperoni pizza in town." Guh-ross.

On the other hand, there's not going to be much difference between a deer killed with buckshot and one dinged with a car as long as it's fresh. It would even be pre-tenderised.

"as long as it's fresh." Haunting words, those.

Jo- when I lived in rural Oklahoma a deer died jumping a barb wire fence in our (rented) yard that faced a highway. When DH called the game warden/animal control they suggested we eat it! This was after we stated that we had no idea how long it had been dead (and it was HOT summer in Ok.) No thanks!

Customers say they don't know if they'll come back??? That's just too funny! Roadkill delivered to you, maybe daily. Just rename the place "Roadkill Cafe", then they don't have to think about it anymore. No thank you. Hey fellow peas, we have a topic we can all agree on!
