...your child randomly suggests a background, and you already have that paper!
Tonight our 12yo said I should scrap a particular picture of her, and out of the blue suggested pink paper with silver swirls. Not only did I have it, I knew exactly where to find it: Blossoms & Butterflies by DCWV.

I was going to try to play along, but apparently (since I keep buying it) I don't believe you ever CAN have too much paper!

- when you donate 16 pounds of paper to a library program and you can't tell that much paper is gone from your stash.
- when the top of the cabinet sags from the weight of the paper.
- when I read some article that estimated I could make over 1000 layouts from the papers I had on hand.

Since I'm unpacking all my craft stuff at the moment in the new house, I decided to see how tall my paper collection was... and I stacked it all up, cardstock, patterned paper, class supplies - everything 12x12 paper in my collection. I declared that since the stack was shorter than me, I didn't need to be embarrassed. Right? (It's actually just taller than my standing work table - so must be around the 4 foot mark. )
...non-scrappy friends and family seem to disagree. Somehow I think the Peas might have my back on this one! |

You bet
Hmm, I'm trying to think how much I have. I think 10 Cropper Hoppers plus extras, so probably between 3 and 4 feet. That doesn't include the shelf section of encyclopedias/atlases/other old books that I keep to use the pages from though, so strictly more I guess. Don't think I'd dare actually stack it all up!
All I can say is, considering how much I actually scrap it kinda *is* too much. |

When Ms had paper pads 50% off plus 20% off the sale price I bought 2 because I had recently used half a pack from my stash--I still regret not buying more. My paper stack is probably less than 2 feet (including card stock).

I bought an armoire a couple years ago and swore I would get rid of all paper that didn't fit into it.
Lately my paper has started seeping out of the cabinet and into random nooks in my craft room!
(Really an armoire should be enough space!) |

You have too much paper when....you even have bought butt ugly paper and won't get rid of it just in case... I have some pretty UGLY paper.
Two of them come to mind..
One is a plain purple backgroud and there are skeltons all over it. Like photo taken skeltons.. not cute for Halloween. I keep thinking I will use it for a science project or something.
Another one looks like from a superhero collection.. it's planets.. and very cartoon looking.. but strange... WHY do I have this??? WHY WHY WHY did I even buy it? |

Well, after reading this thread, I don't have too much paper! YAY I can buy more! LOL
I've never measured it, but based upon how I have it organized, I would say that I have about a foot of card stock at most, maybe a little less. That's 12 x 12, I do have a 6" stack of 8.5 x 11. As for patterned paper, I would say about a foot of that as well. I did purge lots of stuff a few months ago and I likely purged 4" of paper, but then A's had a sale two days later of by 10 get 10 free so I bought 40 more pieces then and I've added some collections since the July CHA. |

Your husband says you could open your own store!!! HOwever...since I started working for my LSS....lets just say many of my scrappy bins overfloweth! I don't care one bit....it makes me happy to be in there and play. I don't even have the guilt i used to when i purge anymore since technically i'm paying for it! I am not a "stack" person though....paper pad "stacks" or whatever they're called. I never like more than 1 or 2 papers, so i buy individually. BUT......I'm rolling with at least 20 6x6 pads these days! I'm addicted to them! |

NEVER too much paper! Never! It doesn't go bad and I pick what I like, not what's trendy. And I DO have a use for most of what I buy, it just takes me several years to get to it!
42 Cropper Hoppers full...and that's only my LOOSE paper. Doesn't include my collection kits (about 4-5' tall) or kit clubs (another 4' tall) or my scraps (map chest full). According to DH, it only cost about $100 though, because you can get a big ol' box of paper at Office Max for $11, so the colored papers can't be much more. Heh. Gotta love clueless husbands sometimes.

I feel, wholeheartedly, that the "too much paper, or supplies" is a very personal threshold. Some are high, some are low on this issue. HOWEVER, this, and always this, is my answer:
... you want to scrapbook or make some cards - just so that you can make room for the new paper you just bought

Not really, loose sheets are kept in Iris boxes while Stacks/pads are simply "stacked" on top of each other. I just really LOVE my paper, and having to look through them often to find the "perfect" sheet keeps them fresh in my mind. BTW, 8 inches of paper? Or is that feet?
The looking at, feeling the texture, admiring it all, that is part of what I love about paper crafting.
Yes!
You have too much paper when....you even have bought butt ugly paper and won't get rid of it just in case... I have some pretty UGLY paper.
I was in the same boat: U-G-L-Y paper that I should get rid of, only to find that in small pieces, they can actually look NICE! So yes, even "buggly" papers can serve well.
I'm rolling with at least 20 6x6 pads
Bah, they're so small, they don't even count. Just like a serving of chips is x-number of chips, but mouthfuls of crumbs don't count.
I must bookmark this thread to show anyone who says I have too much paper. Thanks, Peas!
