We use an "invisible fencing" system for our 3 dogs. It has worked better than we could have hoped in the nearly 10 years we've had it in place.

Recently, the mini Dachshund has been getting out of the yard. We've replaced batteries (twice even...thinking maybe the first replacements were lemons) to no avail. My husband thinks its time to rerun new wire (the last time was about 3.5 years ago, rerouting it out of what is now the horses' dry lot). He also found that one of the screws in her collar is missing and feels this is keeping the unit from having a tight enough connection with the batteries. Knowing all of this, we've just been keeping an extra special close eye on her and not just letting her out but going with her.

Today we were doing some fall barn chores (digging out mud around our "barns" in preparation for laying down more stone dust). We got distracted. At some point, it hit me that I didn't know where the dog was. A check (and double check) of the house confirmed my fears that she was no where to be found. We spent the next 90 or so minutes of walking around our rural neighborhood, alerting any neighbors we found outside along the way. I was trying not to panic but it wasn't easy.

I finally walked down through the fields beside our house (our fields) to where there's a "tree line". The deer live in this area. I made my way into the under-brush. At this point, I finally lost my composure and broke down. I literally cried out to God to please help me find her, bring her back to me. It's been a rough few weeks and I'm not doing terrible well on an emotional level. Depression is working hard to seep into my life and I'm fighting hard to not let it. Losing this dog would pretty much push me over that proverbial "edge".

As I stood, racked with sobs, I truly and clearly heard the words "turn around". You have to understand that what was behind me was open field, field we had be scanning and scouring the whole time we were searching. I had just walked through those fields to get to where I was. There was NO sign of the dog.

So, I turned around. She was just standing there looking at me. I sobbed as I picked her up and carried her back to our house. Some may say this was just a coincidence, but you didn't hear what I heard.

God spoke to me today. He answered my prayer. He might not always do it so dramatically and completely, but today He did. My heart is overjoyed tonight on a lot of levels.

I am glad you found your dog.

The Lord did that to me as well when we lived in Texas. I was standing at the sink and looking out the window He audibly said, "An opportunity will come up for you and Mark to move to Pennsylvania. I want you to be supportive of him in his decision."

That day my DH came home from work and said they had opened up transfers and did I want him to put in for PA? Chills.

I am so thankful for that direct commandment. The few years after the move were not easy and I am grateful that I know I did the right thing.

Awww how touching! Glad your doggie was found

That happened to me once, after trying 8months for DS #2 and continually testing negative. One night, DH was working a mid-shift, DS was asleep, it was 3:30am. I was laying on the couch when suddenly a strong voice said "test". I was quite startled, looked around the darkened room, questioned "what was that" and decided to take a pregnancy test.

At 3:30am I took a pregnancy test and was shocked to see the most ++ result. Who do you call at 3:30am when everyone is asleep?!! I called DH at work to tell him the news. He cried

The Dr. confirmed the result and much to our shock the ultra-sound determined I was 11 weeks along.

I"m so happy you found your little doxie!

I believe you heard God..I've heard His voice, too. It was very clear.

I believe He speaks to all of us, we just aren't always listening.

And it isn't always what we want to hear. In my case, He told me to look in something I would NEVER have thought to look in. When I did, I found drugs in my son's room. That discovery lead us to counseling & helped keep my son from going down a bad path.

How great is our God! I'm so glad your doggy was found. What a wonderful story.

My next thought was He very directly answered your prayer today, so just know that He is with you through your struggles. He will never forsake you.

I have also heard God's voice, and felt His hand.

I heard His voice the first time my husband left me, before the divorce was final but after I had come to terms with it and accepted that it was going to happen. I was sitting in Bible Study one night and clear as day God said "You need to forgive your husband." I had even stopped thinking of him as my husband at that point, so the wording really struck me. As soon as I felt forgiveness for him, God said "You need to tell him." That one was a little harder for me. But I called him when I got home and told him.

Later I found out that a few days after that, God spoke to him, too. He hadn't prayed in probably 20 years, but God literally knocked him out of his chair and said "You are not to get a divorce." It took us another month or so to set things back right, but we did not get divorced at that time.

It was 7 years later that my husband left me again. I prayed hard, and begged God to tell me what to do, but even as He was listening to me and providing me with support and filling all of my other needs in amazing ways, He was not talking out loud to me like I wanted, and He was not bringing my husband back to me.

Over a year after the divorce, I was feeling very lonely one night, and I told God that even though I know He's enough for me, I still really needed physical comfort. (I'm crying as I type this) I was in bed, lying on my side, and I felt a comforting hand on my back. I'll be honest, it freaked me out a little bit. After that, I tell God thank you for loving me, but please don't scare me like that again.

Thanks for posting this. It was needed today!

I've had this happen twice to me and at first, I just felt a bit crazy. I did as told, but when trying to tell someone why you chose your DH... well, "because God told me to" just sounds a bit out there. The second time... I'm waiting to fulfill that commandment but soon!

But the clarity of the statement, the instant belief that it is true... well, that speaks to me.

And this tomorrow's reading from my "Jesus Calling" devotional book:

"In order to hear My voice, you must release all your worries into My care. Entrust to Me everything that concerns you. This clears the way for you to seek My Face unhindered. Let Me free you from fear that is hiding deep inside you. Sit quietly in My Presence, allowing My Light to soak into you and drive out any darkness lodged within you."

I'm speechless.

I'm also speechless about your devotional. Wow, God is so good.

I heard something from a Beth Moore bible study years ago and I think of it often when I know I'm not relying on God.
It basically said that we have no idea of the goodness He has for us. We are ducks in a puddle splashing around thinking how great it is, but over the next ridge is a pond, bigger than we can imagine with so much goodness we can't even comprehend it so we stay in our puddle.

It was on my fifth birthday that Papa put his hand on my shoulder and said, 'Remember, my son, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm.'
