So, what are you making?

For us, it's:

Turkey, dressing and gravy
A boiled dinner (carrots, potatoes, cabbage & turnip)
Baked squash
Sweet potatoes
Brussels sprouts with bacon
Pumpkin pie (the pumpkins are in the oven now)

We're having our big meal tomorrow, so I'm trying to get as much done as possible today.

Meg, it would depend on your mode of transport. You could hop on a plane and be here well before dinner tomorrow. But, if you're walking. . . well, I'll keep some warm for you.

Honestly, I have no idea. My sister is doing the meal and my part (the vegetarian part) is coming from Whole Foods. I do know there's pumpkin pie on the menu because I have three Grey Ghost pumpkins sitting on my counter waiting to be roasted and made into pies.

Your menu sounds yummy though.

ETA: Dinner for us is tomorrow. Tonight I have an avocado to use up, so I'm thinking quesidillas... or something like that.

Yummy!

We had dinner at DH's sister's last night. Ham, scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes (with the marshmallow topping), turnip puff and carrots & asparagus were on the menu. Dessert was pumpkin pie or cupcakes (chocolate, filled with salted caramel, topped with caramel buttercream, crushed pretzels and salted caramel drizzle).

Today we are at my Mom's. She quit cooking for large crowds ages ago, so I believe my Step-Dad took pity on her, and they have ordered dinner in from some place in Toronto that does the whole dinner for you. I'm assuming it is turkey and all the fun stuff to go with! I know pumpkin pie & pecan pie cheesecake are on the menu for dessert - because I made them!

So what day is Thanksgiving on for Canada? I just saw that a lot of you celebrated it on different days. Is it just a designated weekend?

We had our big dinner this evening. Here's what we had:
Roast turkey that was grown just down the road, dressing, stuffing balls, and gravy
Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, and turnip
My husband's bread and butter pickles, mustard pickles, and cranberry sauce
Coleslaw
My mom's Bavarian Apple Cheesecake (with apples we picked), pumpkin cream cheese pinwheels, pumpkin pie and vanilla ice cream we made this afternoon.

Yep, we're full!

I'm stuffed.

We celebrate on Sunday because it's more relaxed. No rushing to get to school and work the next day.

I am alone for thanksgiving this year so I had what I WANTED.

Pumpkin pie with real whipped cream.
Stove top stuffing with bits of lelf-over turkey (frozen from the last turkey I cooked) and craisins.

I ate the entire pie, over 24 hours. Just had the last slice for breakfast.

My breakfast had a veggie (pumpkin), dairy (whipped cream), fruit (orange juice) and a 'bread' (pie crust). Very Healthy

We had our Thanksgiving with extended family at my mom and dad's yesterday. An aunt from Winnipeg, uncle from Calgary and aunt from Sutton were all there. The first two I hadn't seen in years, so it was really great that they came for the holiday.

Our menu was baked ham, cheese, mushroom and onion scalloped potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables and rolls. Dessert was pumpkin, apple or lemon meringue pie.

Today we are doing the traditional turkey dinner with just the four of us. Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, mashed sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts and corn. Apple crumble pie with whipped cream for dessert.

We're having an early 'dinner' around one, so that we can just relax for the rest of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We've had an amazing run of great sunny warm weather & I am so not ready to turn on the oven...our meal will be done on our Kamodo smoker ~ a ham & applewood smoked turkey thighs.

I'll do skewers of greek potatoes & coleslaw.

I know I need something else...

Happy Thanksgiving!
