School went on lockdown... parents weren't notified for two hours. Man was seen with a long gun and another witness saw a muzzle flash. News helicopters flying above my house.

For those wondering, parents may not pick up the kids, they have to be shuttled to busses. Parents are being turned away. I'm waiting for him to come home.

That's got to be terrifying. I'm sorry you're having to deal with that. I hope all the kids are home safely soon.

I'm not clear - is the man at the school or was he in the vicinity?

Oh my goodness. I know you are so scared. I'm praying no one is hurt and that your son is home soon.

Please let us know when he is safe.

We have often asserted and we affirm it yet again that no fact in history is better attested than the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It must not be denied by any who are willing to pay the slightest respect to the testimony of their fellow men. That Jesus, who died upon the cross, and was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, did literally rise again from the dead. (excerpted from Dance Your Shoes Off, Second Baptist Church)

Holy crap!

Worst feeling, being helpless and waiting for news.

Prayers said for all the little ones, parents and teachers.

school property, outside. On the premises. Kids saw him at recess. Another person saw a man with a bullet proof vest. Police are sweeping the area.

That fast, tragedy could have struck. But for the grace of God (my opinion), no one was hurt.

This is a K-2 school. Little kids. Little little kids.

Oh man. Prayers being said.

I can only hope the teachers and staff have enough tact not to scare the kids, as you said, sh@#less.

other witnesses say they saw an upset young adult male. Not sure if that's true or not.

According to channel 12, this all started at 3pm. Parents were notified and they were able to pick up students through a side door at the end of school which I think was shortly after.

Not sure what channel you have on, I work in the area.
Hope they find or figure out what happened or who was with the gun in the woods.

Did your son come home on a bus? I pray that things went as smooth as they say it was.

Once you let your little guy come up for air, give him a big hug from the peas. Thank you God for keeping the little ones safe, for the teachers and law enforcement.

So glad to hear that he is back home safe and assume everyone else was as well. I can't imagine the terror you would have felt and hope I never do. I hope they could keep the kids from getting too scared.

According to the 6:00 news. No one was found. It happened about 2:45. Everyone is safe at home. They are interviewing the 2nd graders again to see if they could get any more info. I am glad things were ok. It is an eye opener that anything can happen at any time.
