And I wasn't even eating anything sticky or hard! It feels and looks so gross! I have nightmares where my teeth just start falling out like this! If you know me you know hoe much I fear and loathe the dentist. Who knows what he will have to do to fix this.??? Ugh! |

Generally it can be put back in and glued. It is painless except for the bill.

I had this happen to my front tooth right before a party at my house on the weekend! Go get some fixdent for dentures and apply to the crown. Make sure the crown and tooth is very well cleaned. It will hold till you can get to the dentist tomorrow.
You need to put it back on so you don't break the underlying tooth off anymore. That can cause you to have a root canal if you didn't have one and a post installed. Neither one of those are fun and definitely not on the same day!
I am just thankful we live in this time period so they can fix our teeth! Mine was knocked out! I can't imagine running around with no front tooth
Good luck you will be fine! |

He will clean the tooth and reglue the crown. Takes less than five minutes. No pain... no nothing. Easy peasy and I hate the dentist too. I need gas to get through a cleaning without coming apart. |

If the tooth has a root canal there is no worry or hurry. Just hang on to the crown because it's worth big bucks!
I went two weeks without a crown on a root canaled tooth no biggie.

I just had a temporary crown put in on Friday. They told me that if it comes out to clean it, put toothpaste in it as "glue" and stick it back on. |

Well this tooth has had a root canal on it and I did save the crown even though my son says it is gross. I sure hope it is only a five minute visit! |

I have done that three times ( I know crazy huh!!!) and it is such a simple fix and not too expensive ($25.00). No needles - two minutes.

Too funny! And to see that you've been a Pea even longer than I have. Good luck with that tooth (I've never had to go the root canal route, just a couple of crowns). See you on FB! |

I did save the crown even though my son says it is gross.
Tell him how much it would cost to have a new one made and maybe he won't think it's quite so gross.
Good luck! |

OH no! I went to the dentist today hoping for a 5 minute fix. Of course I couldnt be so lucky. There is nothing left of my tooth but the root and so they cant reattach the crown to it. I have to go back and have the root pulled out!!!!!!! Did I mention how I fear and loathe that dentist!?! Even a cleaning takes medication. YIKES! |

Sorry to hear that the dentist wasn't able to re-cement the crown back in. I had one fall out a couple weeks ago and it took the dentist over an hour to get it back in. The crown is cracked so what he did is just a temporary fix. I have an appointment next week to start the process for a new crown. |

I'm so sorry that you have to get a new crown made. I know they are not at all cheap not to mention the time and pain involved. Hope it all goes well for you! |

You poor thing! I detest the Dentist and I've had 2 totally mess my one tooth up
to the tune of about 5000$ as of right now.
It still isn't right but I'm not ready to get ANOTHER root canal on the same tooth right now.
Also don't have the 2000$ the Endodontist wants....sigh.....
Good luck to you! |

YIKES! I think I have sticker shock! I wish I could elect not to have this procedure but he said the root would get infected and I would have a very painful abscessed tooth to deal with. *sigh* |

Like the crown fell off and you have it, or you actually 'lost' the crown? Our dentist does not charge to reseat a crown, but would charge to create a new one. |

It fell off and I have it....it looks just like a tooth (without a root) and there in nothing sticking up from my gums for it to get cemented onto so he says they have to pull the root so it doesnt abscess. I dont know HOW they will do that...if it involves cutting into my gums or what but I'm skeered! |

Dee, my recommendation is that you go to an oral surgeon, who does this kind of thing all the time. Also you should be offered twilight sleep. Take it! This is an IV medication, and it is fantastic. I just had it for the first time (for dental work; had it for medical procedures). I was asleep before the dentist so much as touched my teeth, and didn't wake up until it was all over. Fabulous!
Good luck! |

I just had new bridgework put in. Two crowns and a fake tooth in the middle. I left around 2400 dollars at the Dentist. Now sure how much our insurance will pay of the 2400 dollars.
