We still watch. This season is really "eh" for us. There are so many new characters and they split the time between the old and new kids so it's hard for any of the story lines to really take. |

My three dds and I used to love it. I didn't watch the last half of last season or this year. Two other dds gave it up, too. One dd still watches and says it is good-- I'll be on the kitchen doing something while it's on and it doesn't look good to me. I'm glad I stopped watching. |

No. I stopped watching last season. I think the writing really went to hell, they started caring more about iTunes sales than cohesive storylines, and my favorite character was turned into a doormat and lost most of his edge.
From what I've read, Ryan Murphy productions usually start out strong, and then he seems to lose interest and the shows flail. It's really too bad, because it was so fun in the beginning.

There are already too many shows on Thursday nights at the same time. I DVR two of them, watch a third live on another TV--and Glee is out. If it was on almost any other night, I'd probably still be watching. |

I gave up this year. I actually liked it right up until the end of last season. Two things have happened to keep me from watching. First, it's up against Grey's Anatomy. I am totally back into that show so there was no way I was going to choose to watch Glee in real time vs watching Grey's. I had cut back on my Grey's viewing for a while, but with the story of Arizona's leg amputation, it's become appointment television for me again. I was leery, because television so often does a piss poor job of portraying disability, and I've been really, really impressed. So I am finding I don't even switch to Glee on the commercials, because in watching for the Arizona/Callie story, I've gotten sucked back into other characters/stories I like.
Now, even with the schedule conflict, I could watch Glee online. I tried, and I just found it boring. I hate the new characters. They're like rip offs of the old ones, only not as good. I always found Rachel and Kurt overrated... I like Santana, Quinn, Mercedes. They're easier for me to relate to as people. Without them on, there's nothing to hold my interest - especially as some of the bits I have seen - that awful Kitty person and her pushing Marley into bulimia - is so offensive to me.
From what I've read, Ryan Murphy productions usually start out strong, and then he seems to lose interest and the shows flail. It's really too bad, because it was so fun in the beginning.
A friend of mine who was a big Nip/Tuck fan warned me of that, and it's proven to be true, at least imo. |

Yes, still a big fan, still watch every episode, often more than once.
For me though, it's not just the show, but a connection with some of the cast and the friends I've made as a result of the show. This weekend I flew down to LA to go to (Kurt) Chris Colfer's book signing for his newest book. I re-connected with fans that I've met over the years and made new friends.
I'm not a big fan of the new characters and think the writing is often poor, but I still love the show and don't plan to stop watching.

I was kind of over it but I like the new lead couple. I didn't get EVERYBODY being gay or secretly gay and the whole Coach Biest (sp?) spousal abuse thing was just odd. I've also had enough of Lea Michelle. I liked her better as a dork. I'll keep watching for now but that new bitchy cheerleader, does she really have to be a complete God squad Christian? |

Yeah, the new book/movie is VERY different than his first book. Definitely a different target audience. If you get a chance to see the movie and listen to the audio book of SBL, Chris's portrayal of Sheryl Phillips (Carson's mom) sounds so much like Allison Janney, it's eery.
I got to talk to him for a bit last night as he remembers me from different events and I'm helping with a charity project in his honor, so we were chatting about that.

Obviously that's hyperbole, but while it may seem like a lot of the characters are LGBT, it's really just a few out of a large cast. Based on the current cast:
Straight females - Rachel, Tina, Quinn, Emma, Sue, Coach Beiste, Marley, Kitty, Becky, Carole
Straight males - Jake, Puck, Ryder, Finn, Sam, Joe, Artie, Mike, Will, Burt, Principal Figgins, Hunter
Lesbian/Gay/Bi/Transgender - Kurt, Blaine, Brittany, Santana, Unique, Sebastian

I definitely agree with this - I'm definitely not loving the music so far this season. I used to buy most of the songs each week on iTunes, buy the CDs, etc. My Glee playlist on my phone is over 250 songs. But, so far this season I think I've maybe purchased 5 or 6 songs, mostly the ones from "The Break Up" (Don't Speak, The Scientist, Barely Breathing). I did buy the "Glease" album but I'm a huge Grease fan, so I had to

I still watch, but more out of habit than because I actually enjoy the show. It's not competing in it's timeslot with anything else I watch so I just keep watching. It's gotten really boring though. The only season I really enjoyed was the first. That season was funny and everything was so fresh and unexpected. Now, the new characters are too much like the old characters, the whole coach Biest spousal abuse thing was super weird, and Sue's pregnancy was just bizarre.
With regard to the gay characters, I have felt for a long time like there's way too many LGBT characters that serve no purpose other than to fill out some kind of tally sheet of diversity. The last figure I read said that 3.8% of Americans identify as LGBT. Following that figure (if I'm doing my math right) of the 28 characters listed in the post above, 1.06 characters should be LGBT. And yet we have 6. It's weird. But Blaine's my favorite character so as long as they don't cut him it's ok.

I used to watch it live every week but now that they've put it against Grey's, I record it. Sometimes I watch and sometimes I don't. I think Marley pales in comparison to Rachel, character and singing-wise.
It's lost a lot of its wit. I miss all the fast zingers from Sue and airheaded lines from Brittney, where you had to really listen to keep up.

I've continued to watch, but with a lot less luster. The first season was just UH-mazing, and then it got wierd - I couldn't tell/understand/care if Santana & Britney were gay, I got over Rachel & Finn, the wierd pregnancy with Sue was just huh??? I don't even care if Shu & Emma get together. I watched half-heartedly during seasons 2 & 3, and I think this season is getting better, but the songs that used to be so awesome, the mashes, the mixes, etc... they just aren't there. =( |

See, Blaine is one of the reasons I quit watching. I couldn't stomach anymore the way the writers portrayed Blaine vs. the way the portrayed Kurt - the more masculine gay guy always being shown to be better and more desirable than the effeminate one. It just smacked of the misogyny that Glee has often been guilty of, and it was becoming both offensive and disheartening to me and my son who would watch with me, who found Kurt to be a large source of inspiration for those who dared to be different. My son stopped watching about the same time I did, and I'm glad. Fortunately he still looks up to Chris Colfer, and that's one of the reasons I adore Chris so much.
From what little I've read, it sounds like I'd despise Blaine even more this season.
I did hear a snippet of one of the Glee songs coming out soon. It had Simon and Garfunkel's Homeward Bound mashed with another popular song, and it sounded gorgeous, so I might actually buy that when it comes out.

Yes, big fans here and love this year not only more than we thought we would, but more than a lot of the seasons!! I guess I like a little less "the Rachel and Finn show" and a little more diversity with other singers/actors, etc. I could still do with a little less Finn now to be honest but I find him so much more tolerable without Rachel.
That said, I love Rachel in NY - her with Brody and interaction with her dance teacher and with Kurt. She's in her element and love her character there, seems to fit so much better than back in HS.
So yeah, loving this season! Love the new actors - was a big fan of Glee Project and although wasn't thrilled with Uniqua character at first, even he/she grew on me and we found we liked him as well! But hands down, the Blake/Ryder character was the BEST addition. Love him. Love Marley. Love Kitty. Jakes little bro - eh, he's kind of whiny, so not a lot of love for him, he needs to be a little less poor me - but otherwise great year.
Oh yes less Mr. Shue and all of his ballads, LOL - nice to get a break from him as well, as much as I love him as well a nice change to have others "run the show" so to speak with Finn and Artie -
The change has been fun and good this season, can't wait to see what they do for Christmas - |

I don't think it's weird at all. First, that percentage is very questionable. I've seen many different figures for percentage of LGBT Americans and they vary widely. Let's face it, there is still plenty of shame and fear involved with admitting to be LGBT so it would make sense not everyone would respond truthfully. Second, the show is specifically *about* the outsiders--the people who are different, unique, don't fit in. Plus, we are looking at drama/theater/music kids--typically higher percentage of LGBT in that group. If you look at the whole school population, the number would be much lower.

Also, I was referring to the named characters, not the entire school. So, yes, 6 out of 28 might seem like "a lot" but when you look at the entire school population, it's different. Yes, it's a TV show, but in the prom episodes, you didn't see other same-sex couples or the boys on the football team that were bullying Kurt (other than Karofsky) were presented as being heterosexual. So, of the characters on the show that we've actually seen (even if they don't have names), we know of 6 students (7 if you count Dave) that are openly LGBT - but then you can't count Sebastian because he's at Dalton, so we're back at 6. Kurt even makes reference early in the show to being the only "openly gay student at McKinley" in the episode Never Been Kissed.

That's a good point.
I guess my issue, if that's even the right word for it, refers to a previous poster about how it just feels like they're trying to cram a lesson down your throat with each episode. It gets old, sometimes I just want to be entertained.

DD and I still watch. I really like the new character, Marley, but I miss the old chemistry between Quinn and Finn and Puck and Santana and all the oldies. I want to give the newcomers a chance and the chick that plays Marley has a great voice! I'm loving the New York scenes with Kate Hudson. Without her that storyline would be a complete dud. Rachel and Kurt would bite the dust.
I still watch though. I think when big changes like these happen it takes at least a full season to let things play out, so I'm willing to at least keep it going until the end of the season in May. |

X-Factor ran late because of the game before it running late, so everything got pushed back, it wasn't that X-Factor purposely ran longer. I'm in CA, so it all got figured out by the time it aired here and it was on time.
Dave Karofsky has not been mentioned since the episode and there are no plans for him to return.
Though I have heard some interesting announcements about some characters that are returning and I'm curious to see how that plays out.
