I tend to treat both of these purchases as 'disposable'.
For gloves, I buy a pack of the tiny, stretchy $2 ones in the fall. I really only need them when I get into a cold car to drive to work.
Sunglasses, I buy $9 ones. Except I think I want nicer ones for the cruise I'm going on in February. I don't LIKE sunglasses, but maybe it's because I always buy crappy ones. I feel like they impair my already sketchy vision. |

I buy the cheapo $2 2-pack of gloves at Walmart for the exact reasons as you. I only need them to get into a cold car or checking the mail or something.
I usually don't spend more than $10-20 on sunglasses because I'm really hard on them. I toss them in my car and purse, sit on them, lose them, etc. |

Same here, but I think it's a causal relationship. I don't treat my expensive prescription glasses badly. I think I'd treat expensive sunglasses better. |

I used to buy the cheapo gloves, but they don't last too long. I use them a lot though. I live in SE WI and take the dog for at least one walk a day. In winter those cheap gloves just don't cut it!
I buy expensive sunglasses, mainly because they are prescription lenses. I used to be as cheap as I could find and would lose them (or sit on them in the car) almost as soon as I bought them. I got my first prescription sunglasses a few years ago and was worried I'd do the same thing. Amazingly enough I take very good care of them and haven't lost them or sat on them yet. (That last sentence is probably tempting fate...)

I buy cheap gloves, but I also buy medium priced gloves because I like thick, warm ones when I need to be outside for a while.
I always buy $10-$15 sunglasses at Kohl's. Once I was tempted to buy a really cute $300 pair. Then I found a pair at Kohl's almost identical to them for $10. I picked up 3 similar pairs for $30 and realized I could sit on them, bend the frames, scratch the lenses, lose them, etc. 30 times before I reached the cost of the one nice pair.
But having said that, I don't think it's outrageous if OTHER people buy expensive sunglasses! DH buys expensive ones. He takes better care of his stuff than I do.

Fairly cheap gloves ($10-15 range) because I can't keep track of them from one season to the next (an ugly pair of purple ones? They've been around for years).
Cheap sunglasses. I misplace things, period, and I have enough to worry about keeping track of my phone. Yeah, I'd probably mostly keep track of expensive sunglasses, but why stress myself out to do that? Besides, as long as the have the 100% UV block rating, what is the point of $300 sunglasses vs $20 from Kohl's? I can't see paying so much more money for sunglasses than necessary. |

Sunglasses - I always bought myself cheap sunglasses. Two years ago for Mother's Day by DH bought me Maui Jim's and now I can't live without them. I still have a few cheap sunglasses around the house and the other day I wore a pair, I might as well have been wearing nothing on my eyes. (I live in Texas and need them year round.)
Gloves - My gloves were all gifts, but I do keep the cheap ones around for the kids.

This is us. SO has several pair of Gucci, LV, and Versace sunglasses and he takes super great care of them. I found a pair of $20 sunglasses that were almost identical to the Coach ones I wanted and I've managed to hang on to them for 2 years, even though I scratched the lens the first week I had them. lol |

Kmart had 75% off those cheap fingerless gloves last spring so I bought 10 pairs. I wear the fingerless kind a lot because I'm an organist, so I can wear them while I practice in the cold sanctuary.
I don't spend more than $5 on sunglasses because I also break or lose them constantly. I don't mind the cheap ones- never saw the value in more expensive ones. |

I used to only buy the cheap sunglasses as I was always losing them. My husband bought me an expensive pair a few years ago, and I have to say - I'll never go back. The clarity was just so much better! And yes I did discover that I treated the expensive pair much better than the cheapo ones!
I hate gloves, so unless I'm skiing - I never wear them.

I usually just get cheap sunglasses because I'm really rough on them (sit on them, lose them, drop, smash, toss, lose in purse or car...etc). My husband bought me a pair of Chanel sunglasses once as a surprise while he was away on a trip, and I was always super careful with them, but I scratched the lens, so now they're put away.
As for gloves, I get cheap ones because I lose them or my kids do. I despise the cold, so I'm never out in it for very long..cheap gloves/scarf works best for me.

I never buy expensive gloves for the fear of losing them. I do like the ones that go up your arm, longer sleeved type... So I pay a little more for those.... not more than $10. I found them at Kohls. Also they can't be heavy.. just thin, or I feel like I am impaired..lol
Sunglasses, mine are prescription. enough said on that. |

I have good quality ski gloves, and a pr of leather gloves--the leather ones are a beautiful, soft kid glove that are close to 20 yrs old. But, I'm in CA and frankly, weather is mild here and I don't need much in the way of gloves.Though I will admit a love of fingerless gloves that I knit myself
On sunglasses--I used to buy really cheap sunglasses. I have a hard time finding glasses that fit right, so I was constantly looking for the right pr. But I finally bought a pr over 15 yrs ago that seemed really expensive at the time--to me at least, was on sale for about $60--that I still have. Can't wear them anymore as I now need glasses for distance. I just got a pr of prescription sunglasses from Costco and was surprised at the cost of only $100--I love the style and fit of them, not to mention that I can see! |

I buy cheap-ass gloves, though because I constantly lose them. I don't know what my malfunction is with gloves, but I lose at least a couple pairs each winter. |

My sunglasses are prescriptions so quite pricey! Gloves I go low end because I do tend to walk off and leave them places. I usually have no idea where it was I last wore them.
An embarrasing admission here: I use those elastic cuff clips little kids use to keep track of my favorite pair. They are fleece gloves on a denim coat so its not ruining a professional look. |

Nice for both. I only buy good quality leather gloves. I find them more comfortable wearing while driving. The stretchy knit ones leave my wrists cold, my long nails tend to pop through the fingers and they slide while gripping the steering wheel. All my sunglasses are prescription.

I buy gloves that suit my purpose and try to get them on sale. Ski gloves just tend to be pricey.
I'm outside a lot in the winter walking the dogs and taking pictures and I have to be able to function. I have to have fleece fingerless gloves with a flip-top that converts to a mitten and there has to be a thumb-hole. I have a pair I found at Wal-Mart for $5 and I got 2 more pair on sale at Sahalie this year because I'm so paranoid about losing the Wal-Mart ones.
My current sunglasses are readers that I got from CVS on the Jersey Shore 2 years ago. I haven't been able to find them at my local CVS so I'm thinking I may have to get some Costco sunglasses turned into readers and I've also been thinking about getting some prescription sunglasses there too. |

Canon Rebel XT

28-135mm IS 3.5-5.6

85mm 1.8
580EXII Speedlite

Cheap gloves. I buy the fingerless ones from the Target dollar spot. We have about 5 pairs (same color) because they are always getting lost.
I buy expensive sunglasses- Maui Jim's. I have very sensite eyes and any brightness bothers them. I even wear them on cloudy days. Our insurance allows a frame allowance every 2 years that we can use for sunglasses. I think it's $150.00. It is covered by insurance because we both had lasik and our dr. recommends polarized lenses. |

I buy nice leather gloves but almost always on sale at the end of the season. My mother LOVES to shop so she will often snag me a pair in some odd color. I love having lots of colors. We only have cold weather in winter and almost no snow or ice so it is fairly easy to keep the gloves clean. I do need to dispose of one pair that aren't worth what it would cost to have them cleaned.
My sunglasses are Ray Bans that weren't cheap. I've had them about 8 years and it was the best personal purchase I've ever made. Before them, I bought cheap ones and didn't take care of them. |

Only good sunglasses for me - I used to buy cheap Target sunglasses, because I always lost/broke/scratched them. I thought it was silly to spend a lot of money on them. Then my dad won a pair of Costa del Mar sunglasses at a fishing expo and gave them to me, as he wears prescription sunglasses. Oh my goodness - such a difference. I had those glasses for about 6 or 7 years, and finally replaced them 3 years ago with a cute pair of Costas - I love, love, love them and won't wear anything else. I keep a back up pair of cheap sunglasses in the car in case I leave my good ones at home - on the rare occasions I need to use them, there is no comparison!
I buy cheap gloves, but I live in Florida! |

My sunglasses are $30 clips. I don't tend to wear them often.
I do need and wear gloves. I live in northern Illinois and I have bus duty outside after school so I'm out in the cold. I buy leather or suede and sometimes fleece. There is a pair in each winter coat and each jacket, so I always have them. I do look for sales and I take pretty good care of them. One pair that is worn looking is used for snow shoveling.

Mid-priced gloves. I get the 'smart touch' ones, so I can use them with my iPhone. But they were a gift, and I don't wear them much, so I haven't lost them.
Cheap sunglasses - usually b1g1 at New York and Company, or Target or something like that. Like many of you, I'm hard on them. I did get a pair of Coach prescription sunglasses several years ago. I didn't lose them and did take better care of them, but they still ended up on top of my head, and stretched out, so it wasn't worth the cost to me. (I had extra money in my HSA that paid for them that year). |
