Do you buy nice gloves, or the cheapy ones? How about sunglasses?

I tend to treat both of these purchases as 'disposable'.

For gloves, I buy a pack of the tiny, stretchy $2 ones in the fall. I really only need them when I get into a cold car to drive to work.

Sunglasses, I buy $9 ones. Except I think I want nicer ones for the cruise I'm going on in February. I don't LIKE sunglasses, but maybe it's because I always buy crappy ones. I feel like they impair my already sketchy vision.

I buy the cheapo $2 2-pack of gloves at Walmart for the exact reasons as you. I only need them to get into a cold car or checking the mail or something.

I usually don't spend more than $10-20 on sunglasses because I'm really hard on them. I toss them in my car and purse, sit on them, lose them, etc.

Same here, but I think it's a causal relationship. I don't treat my expensive prescription glasses badly. I think I'd treat expensive sunglasses better.

I used to buy the cheapo gloves, but they don't last too long. I use them a lot though. I live in SE WI and take the dog for at least one walk a day. In winter those cheap gloves just don't cut it!

I buy expensive sunglasses, mainly because they are prescription lenses. I used to be as cheap as I could find and would lose them (or sit on them in the car) almost as soon as I bought them. I got my first prescription sunglasses a few years ago and was worried I'd do the same thing. Amazingly enough I take very good care of them and haven't lost them or sat on them yet. (That last sentence is probably tempting fate...)

I buy cheap gloves, but I also buy medium priced gloves because I like thick, warm ones when I need to be outside for a while.

I always buy $10-$15 sunglasses at Kohl's. Once I was tempted to buy a really cute $300 pair. Then I found a pair at Kohl's almost identical to them for $10. I picked up 3 similar pairs for $30 and realized I could sit on them, bend the frames, scratch the lenses, lose them, etc. 30 times before I reached the cost of the one nice pair.

But having said that, I don't think it's outrageous if OTHER people buy expensive sunglasses! DH buys expensive ones. He takes better care of his stuff than I do.

Sunglasses - I always bought myself cheap sunglasses. Two years ago for Mother's Day by DH bought me Maui Jim's and now I can't live without them. I still have a few cheap sunglasses around the house and the other day I wore a pair, I might as well have been wearing nothing on my eyes. (I live in Texas and need them year round.)

Gloves - My gloves were all gifts, but I do keep the cheap ones around for the kids.

I buy cheap gloves and expensive sunglasses. My eyes are really light, so I am extremely sensitive to sunlight, so I wear mine constantly.

This is us. SO has several pair of Gucci, LV, and Versace sunglasses and he takes super great care of them. I found a pair of $20 sunglasses that were almost identical to the Coach ones I wanted and I've managed to hang on to them for 2 years, even though I scratched the lens the first week I had them. lol

Kmart had 75% off those cheap fingerless gloves last spring so I bought 10 pairs. I wear the fingerless kind a lot because I'm an organist, so I can wear them while I practice in the cold sanctuary.

I don't spend more than $5 on sunglasses because I also break or lose them constantly. I don't mind the cheap ones- never saw the value in more expensive ones.

I buy expensive gloves--the cold encourages RA flareups.

I don't even own a pair of sunglasses.

cheap sunglasses also...they fall way too many times to have a meltdown over them.

I used to only buy the cheap sunglasses as I was always losing them. My husband bought me an expensive pair a few years ago, and I have to say - I'll never go back. The clarity was just so much better! And yes I did discover that I treated the expensive pair much better than the cheapo ones!

I hate gloves, so unless I'm skiing - I never wear them.

I got the Maui Jims, too. I can't go without them now -- and I haven't scratched or lost them in two years.

I get medium priced gloves. I wear them every day in the winter, but I lose them a lot. Right now I'm wearing a mismatched pair.

I usually just get cheap sunglasses because I'm really rough on them (sit on them, lose them, drop, smash, toss, lose in purse or car...etc). My husband bought me a pair of Chanel sunglasses once as a surprise while he was away on a trip, and I was always super careful with them, but I scratched the lens, so now they're put away.

As for gloves, I get cheap ones because I lose them or my kids do. I despise the cold, so I'm never out in it for very long..cheap gloves/scarf works best for me.

I never buy expensive gloves for the fear of losing them. I do like the ones that go up your arm, longer sleeved type... So I pay a little more for those.... not more than $10. I found them at Kohls. Also they can't be heavy.. just thin, or I feel like I am impaired..lol

Sunglasses, mine are prescription. enough said on that.

I have good quality ski gloves, and a pr of leather gloves--the leather ones are a beautiful, soft kid glove that are close to 20 yrs old. But, I'm in CA and frankly, weather is mild here and I don't need much in the way of gloves.Though I will admit a love of fingerless gloves that I knit myself
On sunglasses--I used to buy really cheap sunglasses. I have a hard time finding glasses that fit right, so I was constantly looking for the right pr. But I finally bought a pr over 15 yrs ago that seemed really expensive at the time--to me at least, was on sale for about $60--that I still have. Can't wear them anymore as I now need glasses for distance. I just got a pr of prescription sunglasses from Costco and was surprised at the cost of only $100--I love the style and fit of them, not to mention that I can see!

I buy nice sunglasses because I don't have trouble keeping track of those.

I buy cheap-ass gloves, though because I constantly lose them. I don't know what my malfunction is with gloves, but I lose at least a couple pairs each winter.

The gloves that I have I think were about $20 or maybe $25. I don't knowif that is considered expensive or not. They are obviously not the cheapie ones that some of you are talking about though. I don't need gloves often. I keep them in my car. I think this will be my 4th winter using these gloves and unless I lose them, I won't buy more.

Most of the time, I buy sunglasses that are about $10. I do have one pair that I paid $40 for. I have managed to keep them for a couple of years and am still using them. I always use my cheapie's at the lake and on the boat.

There are expensive sunglasses that are just as crappy as the cheapies and then there are *good* sunglasses that are polarized, those are expensive too.
I buy expensive, good sunglasses. Once you've used them you can't go back to the cheapies. I've tried and it's like I'm not wearing anything at all.

I buy cheap gloves. I just bought a $2 pair at WM that has the touch screen enabled fingers on them and some of those grip-ey dots on the palms so I can use my iphone when I run (a must for me). But I live in GA and we don't really get much cold weather here.

gloves - those cheap stretchy ones. I lose them all the time! I do have one pair of nice JCREW ones, but they were a gift.

sunglasses - I like expensive sunglasses, they sit on my face so I want them to be nice. However, my favorite pair of sunglasses cost $10. I picked them up in a pinch when I forgot the expensive ones at home, and I now wear them all the time.

I get rather expensive gloves, I despise having cold hands and I end up wearing them all the time. On the other hand I'm nearly blind without my glasses so I buy cheap clip ons instead of getting prescription ones. Way too expensive for prescription glasses for my eye sight.

My sunglasses are prescriptions so quite pricey! Gloves I go low end because I do tend to walk off and leave them places. I usually have no idea where it was I last wore them.

An embarrasing admission here: I use those elastic cuff clips little kids use to keep track of my favorite pair. They are fleece gloves on a denim coat so its not ruining a professional look.

I buy decent gloves - usually in the $15-35 price range. I tend to grab a new pair when I see a great deal. I keep a pair in my car and in most coat pockets.

I use prescription sunglasses, so they are expensive. However, even before I went to prescription, I tended to buy more expensive sunglasses because I am more conscious of expensive ones and tend to keep them much longer. I am extremely sensitive to light, so I don't step outside without sunglasses.

I buy mid-priced gloves ($20.-$40.) when they are half off every few years. They feel better and I can use them when I'm driving instead of the disposible ones.

I prefer better quality sunglasses and if I spend more on them I seem to take better care of them

Nice for both. I only buy good quality leather gloves. I find them more comfortable wearing while driving. The stretchy knit ones leave my wrists cold, my long nails tend to pop through the fingers and they slide while gripping the steering wheel. All my sunglasses are prescription.

I like the nice ones but only when I can get them cheap. I tend to lose everything(terrible memory, always forgetting where I put things) so I don't like to have much $$ invested. I love coach sun glasses but I only buy them on clearance or at outlets. Waaaaay cheaper that way!

I buy gloves that suit my purpose and try to get them on sale. Ski gloves just tend to be pricey.

I'm outside a lot in the winter walking the dogs and taking pictures and I have to be able to function. I have to have fleece fingerless gloves with a flip-top that converts to a mitten and there has to be a thumb-hole. I have a pair I found at Wal-Mart for $5 and I got 2 more pair on sale at Sahalie this year because I'm so paranoid about losing the Wal-Mart ones.

My current sunglasses are readers that I got from CVS on the Jersey Shore 2 years ago. I haven't been able to find them at my local CVS so I'm thinking I may have to get some Costco sunglasses turned into readers and I've also been thinking about getting some prescription sunglasses there too.

I used to buy expensive sunglasses (expensive in my book is more than $40) but I'm constantly losing, scratching, or breaking them. Now I won't spend more than $10-$15. I find the cheap ones usually last me longer. Go figure.
I buy super cheap gloves for driving but nice gloves for snowboarding/playing in the snow.

Cheap gloves. I buy the fingerless ones from the Target dollar spot. We have about 5 pairs (same color) because they are always getting lost.

I buy expensive sunglasses- Maui Jim's. I have very sensite eyes and any brightness bothers them. I even wear them on cloudy days. Our insurance allows a frame allowance every 2 years that we can use for sunglasses. I think it's $150.00. It is covered by insurance because we both had lasik and our dr. recommends polarized lenses.

Sunglasses I will go cheap on. But gloves I use. My hands get stiff and achy, most likely due to my fibro. I have ballgames to attend in the fall and a couple toward the end can get cold so I do wear my gloves. I also like leather ones. So I keep an eye out and when I can find them at Dillards on sale, I grab a pair and give them to DH. They are then a Christmas or anniversary gift to me.

I get both either from TJ Maxx or Old Navy. I don't need them to last forever, I just want them to be cute and fairly functional and I may change them up every season so it's not something I want to invest a lot of $$ in.

I have expensive sunglasses because they are prescription. I have had them for a very long time but I take care of them because I am always either wearing the sunglasses, or my regular glasses.

I have a vast variety of gloves. Super cheap stretch gloves for fell/spring and running out to the car. Heavy thick ones for shoveling or winter activities. In between ones (like isotoner) for ice skating and walking. Leather ones with fur cuffs for dressy occasions. Living in Chicago I have a wardrobe of gloves, hats and scarves for a variety of situations.

Both I buy cheap ones, I only wear shades if I am not driving, my glasses turn dark and I am very careful of them. Gloves I only wear for maybe a month a year. I live in the south so I don't get much use out of those.

My husband gets the expensive sunglasses because he is neat and responsible and takes good care of his things. The girls (9, 13 and 15) and I get cheap gloves and sunglasses because we are not! I did buy some $35 sunglasses at Costco and make sure I am very careful with them. I usually got the $10 ones with a coupon at Kohls.

I bought some lovely warm suede gloves today, but they were only £4.99 from Aldi- they look much more expensive though. I don't buy sunglasses, as I really need prescription ones and can't afford them.

Sunglasses - I have Maui Jims. They have lasted several years and I love them. I wait until a local store has their annual progressive sale to buy them at a discount.

Gloves - I have a few nice pairs and several cheap pairs. Every winter coat has a pair of gloves in the pockets, so I don't have to search.

I buy nice leather gloves but almost always on sale at the end of the season. My mother LOVES to shop so she will often snag me a pair in some odd color. I love having lots of colors. We only have cold weather in winter and almost no snow or ice so it is fairly easy to keep the gloves clean. I do need to dispose of one pair that aren't worth what it would cost to have them cleaned.

My sunglasses are Ray Bans that weren't cheap. I've had them about 8 years and it was the best personal purchase I've ever made. Before them, I bought cheap ones and didn't take care of them.

Only good sunglasses for me - I used to buy cheap Target sunglasses, because I always lost/broke/scratched them. I thought it was silly to spend a lot of money on them. Then my dad won a pair of Costa del Mar sunglasses at a fishing expo and gave them to me, as he wears prescription sunglasses. Oh my goodness - such a difference. I had those glasses for about 6 or 7 years, and finally replaced them 3 years ago with a cute pair of Costas - I love, love, love them and won't wear anything else. I keep a back up pair of cheap sunglasses in the car in case I leave my good ones at home - on the rare occasions I need to use them, there is no comparison!

I buy cheap gloves, but I live in Florida!

I wear prescription sunglasses, so yes they are expensive.

I have one pair of good cashmere gloves, other than that its the cheapo stretchy ones.

I just don't see why people think I'm too patronizing (that means I treat them as if they were stupid.)

I have a nice pair of gloves, but I like the cheap stretchy ones too, and have several pairs of them.

sunglasses - cheap - I am hard on them, they got dropped and bent a lot.

I buy medium priced gloves. For me that's like $15-20. My hands get REALLY cold and I use them for walking the dog and times when I'm outside for a while.

I buy cheap sunglasses. That's like $10 for me. I throw them in my purse and have occasionally left them places. So I don't want super expensive sunglasses to be ruined. Though I guess if I had them, I would treat them better.

My sunglasses are $30 clips. I don't tend to wear them often.

I do need and wear gloves. I live in northern Illinois and I have bus duty outside after school so I'm out in the cold. I buy leather or suede and sometimes fleece. There is a pair in each winter coat and each jacket, so I always have them. I do look for sales and I take pretty good care of them. One pair that is worn looking is used for snow shoveling.

I buy decent gloves (i try to stay between $20-30) because it gets cold here and i like warm hands.

My sunglasses are expensive but they are prescription.

Mid-priced gloves. I get the 'smart touch' ones, so I can use them with my iPhone. But they were a gift, and I don't wear them much, so I haven't lost them.

Cheap sunglasses - usually b1g1 at New York and Company, or Target or something like that. Like many of you, I'm hard on them. I did get a pair of Coach prescription sunglasses several years ago. I didn't lose them and did take better care of them, but they still ended up on top of my head, and stretched out, so it wasn't worth the cost to me. (I had extra money in my HSA that paid for them that year).

I wear mittens that my Mom makes! They are beautiful! I ask for a pair with a matching hat every year for Christmas.

I have a couple pairs of black gloves from Old Navy that were $5.

I have to wear prescription sunglasses, those are a bit spendy! Last year I dropped a pair in the snow and ran over them with my car. Oh the sickening crunch.
