I just couldn't face the crazy out there and it's almost never that I have four days off in a row. So I camped out in my sewing room this weekend. I had one order to fill but after that, it was all just for fun stuff I wanted to do!

Christmas apron:

The scraps from that were too cute to toss or stuff in the scrap bag so I googled up a table runner pattern and made this:

And a (very) long while back, a pea asked me to finish up three Quilts for Kids kit quilts that she wasn't able to finish. I got all of them sewn, sandwiched, and quilted this weekend but only had time to get one binding on. The other two will get done this week and in the mail. Better late than never, yes?

Who else did something crafty over the long weekend? Share, share, share!

You did great indeed!

I did a couple of small projects - I made a microwavable heating pad filled with rice. I also sewed some fabric behind a rip in a pair of jeans, and put the same fabric on the cuffs.

Nothing as fabulous as what you did, though

I made a cloth diaper for my nephew and almost finished matching outfits for my kiddo's for family pics! I just have to hem! I haven't taken pictures yet though. I did venture out of the sewing room to go to JoAnn's for a little BF shopping. I got a bunch of flannel, knits and cord!

Beautiful! You do such lovely work!

I hung out with MIL and did some jewelry making. She runs a successful jewelry business, so I love to ask her questions and have her show me the "right" way to make things so they last.

Love the Christmas apron!!

I shared photos the other day of my recent crafty projects. I wove a whole bunch of baskets over the past year to sell at an arts festival earlier this month. And last weekend I sewed a library toe (ETA: Ugh - obviously this is supposed to say tote. It's hard to type correctly from my phone!) bag for my niece and a purse for my sister out of red snowflake fabric. Love working on fun projects!

I hunted down your thread. Oh my goodness. The baskets are BEAUTIFUL! I am not shocked they sold so well. Tote bags are very cute. The ladies in your life are lucky to have you sewing for them.

We painted our dining room, and I made a tied fleece quilt for ds. I haven't taken a picture, because it has slipped my mind. It's kind of cute.

Wow, I love the apron! Great job!

I am sewing a leotard for a friend and worked some on that, the sewing is the easy part though, it's the painting that will take forever, and it's ugly, IMO, so that doesn't help my muse, lol. She wants these flowers, and I think flowers are sooo overdone, but it's not for me, of course, so I need to just stop being a pill and get it done!

Sure thing. The tutorial is Valentine's but it would work with anything at all:

Compwalla, I love all your items. I was wondering how you do your straight line quilting? Do you use painters tape, marker, chalk or something else to mark the lines to follow with your needle? I am planning to quilt a quilt in this exact cross hatch manner and was wondering what the best way to mark the lines will be.

That apron is too cute! I sewed all weekend, too! I made three spirit shirts for co-workers (hand-appliqued letters.) I also make a skirt and top for DD for our Disney cruise and a patchwork skirt also for the cruise.

You do amazing work! Did you hand quilt everything? My mom used to do beautiful hand quilting, and I have a friend who makes my stitches look like crap.
I am making quilts for Christmas. I have a TON of fabric hoarded up, so it was an easy choice for me. I'll just have to buy some binding and the batting. Do you have a pinboard for your work? I'd love to see more of it!

P.S. You so spoiled it for me as I thought had done something great by hemming my grand son's pants today! LOL

I use a washable pencil or a white chalk pencil (depending on if the fabric is dark or light) and a 24" acrylic ruler to mark the lines with. The patchwork pattern on the quilts for kids quilts makes it easy to keep everything straight because I just have to hit the corners of the blocks to keep it all lined up. I just go corner to corner along the ruler. If I didn't have the patchwork on my side I'd just pick a good interval like three or four inches and move the ruler over as I went.

And I don't hand quilt anything for the person who asked. I don't even tack bindings by hand. I use the machine for everything. I am far too lazy to do hand quilting!

I made a bunch of things for my etsy shop. Tea wallets, crayon wallets, pillowcases. Some other stuff.

I sold my table runner using Joy fabric. If it didn't sell I was going to use it on my kitchen table. I guess I'll be making another one this week. They are fun to make.

I am discovering that I really like making different types of wallets.

I love your apron. Great work.

I spent some time tearing seams out of some adult pjs so I could use the fabric to make pjs for my friend's 2 grandchildren. She always has matching pjs for her family but with 2 kids under 2 it is difficult to find them for the kids and the adults. So she bought an extra adult pair and asked me to make them for her. I have them all cut out and have started putting them together.
