We have 2 up this year.

9 footer in the living room.
5 foot pencil tree in loft

I have one for our HUGE front porch, but it is not up.

I would like one more for our master bedroom, but I need my dad to give me all of my grandma's ornaments first. He doesn't put one up, so he really should let me have them. Lol!

I currently have 3.

I'm working on a 4th one, but haven't collected enough ornaments for it...not sure whether I will get it up this year or have to wait for next.

One at home. 2 on my desk at work.

I want to get a new tree for home though. We have a traditional, fluffy one. I think a skinny tree would be a better fit in our little house though.

One artificial skinny but tall tree in the living room/parlor. It has a theme with new ornaments (last year was the first year we had that one).

The other is a real tree in the family room with old and vintage ornaments - including some from my great-grandparents.

I have 5.

Well, really 4, but Brendan would be hurt if I didn't count "his" tree.

1) Living room: 9' tree covered with "kid stuff" and white lights. The ornaments are those that my kids have made and ornaments I've received as gifts (mostly from my students). I'd like to go taller (this tree is on it's last legs/trunk ... many branches had to be *bolstered* up this year), but because of the way our furniture is situated, I'd have to go with more of a "pencil" style, and I don't really think it would look right. I've always liked trees with "fat butts".

2) Family room: 7' angel tree. This is MY tree ... covered in white lights, and the ornaments are white, silver and gold. A lot of angels (obviously), crystal & crosses, doves & hearts, etc. I put blinking white lights around the base of the tree and cover it with white tulle and lace. It's verrrry pretttty.

3) Family room: 2' tree in a burlap sack and NO lights. LOL. This is Brendan's tree. It is decorated with ONE ornament: a basketball. He takes great pride in setting it up every year. Heehee.

4) Kitchen/Nook: 4' cookie tree. Decorated with red wooden beaded garland and mostly silver cookie cutters tied with red satin ribbon. There are a few cookie-looking ornaments, and the "topper" is a gingerbread man. It has multi-colored lights.

5) Upstairs loft tree: 7' girlie tree. I guess this is "my" tree, too, although I just started it this year. We had a purple/pink/silver tree there when Keegan still lived at home, but I gave her that tree last year for her first Christmas in her own place. I replaced it this year and it's now lime green/turquoise/pink/silver with a few ornaments from my Caribbean cruise this past summer. I have designs to make this my "travel" tree as I continue to collect ornaments from my travels.

Just one big one. I do have a mini tree too, but with a toddler, I am scared to put it up. It is too close to the ground and I think the ornaments would be destroyed in minutes. Next year, we'll try having both up!

Just one anymore. We used to decorate a lot more, but I've gotten lazy. No children & we won't be hosting. Not to mention the fact that I don't want to have to take all of it down afterwards...like I said, lazy! (I will say that this is the busiest time of the year for me at work, so come January, I'll be pooped!)

4, but we haven't put any of them up yet.

We have a 9' tree in our living room. It's decorated with silver and gold ribbons and ornaments. We also put all of our collected family ornaments on.

Each of my dd's have a 4' white tree for their rooms. 13yo dd has purple and silver ornaments on hers, 10yo dd has teal and silver ornaments on hers, and 5yo dd has pink and silver ornaments on hers.

2 10' trees in LR/FR
2 7' trees in MBR/upstairs
2 6' skinny trees in DR/KitchenNook
4 4' trees in foyer/guest/MBR/upstairs
3 3' trees in kid's rooms
4 2' trees in bathrooms

My favorite is the foyer tree - all handmade ornaments from the kid's elementary school years...

The larger trees are stored "fluffed" with lights in the garage & the rest are stored decorated in closets. I keep a few out all year because I like the way they warm up dark corners...

7 or 9 depending on how you count.

9ft tree in the family room with an assortment of ornaments in all colors
7.5ft tree in master bedroom with black, white, silver, and gold ornaments
7ft tree in my office with pink, purple, lime green, and turquoise ornaments
6ft tree in my entry with gold and silver word, bird, deer, and butterfly ornaments
2 2.5ft trees in my breakfast nook window seat with food related ornaments
2ft tree in the guest room with my "vintage" ornaments from my childhood
2 3.5ft trees flanking my fireplace with poinsettias and ribbon to match the garland with poinsettias and ribbon on the mantel

Do you think that having more than one tree up is regional? For a few years now we have had two trees. One is a very tall artificial tree that we got from some friends who didn't have room for it anymore. We have a room that has vaulted ceilings and faces the road, so I out that tree in there. It isn't that pretty during the day but the lights look nice from the road. I out the more "cutesy" or nostalgic ornaments on that tree. In our living room we put up a real tree that I consider to be more decorative.

Anyway, I have never been to anyone's house and noticed more than one tree. When I mention to people that we have two, they look at me like I am crazy.

I can't imagine how much time it takes to decorate all of those trees. Our large fake tree takes forever to put up and decorate. I try to do them on separate days so I don't get burned out from it.

I think, at least in my 'hood, since artificial trees have become more "real" looking and affordable (I've always bought mine AFTER Christmas), folks I know have started putting up more than one tree.

Growing up, we had one REAL tree. Living in SoCal, it's silly to get a real tree (IMO) because it's so warm and dry. The trees DIE, the needles fall & make a mess, and they're HUGE fire hazards.

I got my first artificial tree because I wanted to enjoy Christmas longer than the 10 days "allotted" when I bought my tree around the 15th. Any earlier, and I'd have a dry, dead tree before Christmas Day. So now I start decorating during Thanksgiving week, when I have time off, and enjoy the decorations all season.

Don't know if it is just regional or just more done today. Several of my friends have a big full size tree in every room of their house. I have 2, but plan to do another one next year.

This year, we have 4 full sized and 5 tabletop trees.

One 7.5 footer in the family room, a 6 footer in the dining room, a 9 footer in the "man room" (all sports themed), and a 6 footer in DS room (DD has a tabletop one, didn't want a big one). I have a tabletop one in my entryway, 3-season porch, and a couple in my scrap room.

Oh, and 1 big silver menorah.

I've got two in my living room. The main tree is 9.5 feet and I decorate that one. Then we've got a 5 foot tree that DD's get to decorate with whatever their heart desires.

They each have a little table top tree in their bedrooms, too.

Two ... we bought a new 9-foot one for the living area this year and I have a five-foot potted tree in my office (it sits in the front window to be visible from the street) where I put my mom's "vintage" ornaments that she bought the first year she and my dad were married.

A lot. I love Christmas. It's my thing.

We have one in the living room. I put up two pencil trees in the foyer. The girls each have one in their bedroom and we put up one in the playroom.

I'd like to get rid of the two smaller pencil trees and buy one taller one for the foyer. We'll see if I can get dh on board during the after Christmas sales.

So, six. But I am looking to downgrade to five.

Okay, after reading the thread not as many as I thought. It seems like a lot.

Four! Gak!

Main one with family and special ornaments from 60 years of living - it's cozy, warm, and covered to the max.

A special one with Arizona ornaments, Mexican ornaments, Native American ornaments, and desert-related ornaments - my tree - no lights but some very old ornaments that have so many memories with them.

And dh and dd have one that has their college stuff all over it. Blech LOL.

Dd puts one up in her bedroom - it's got her own stuff on it. Kinda modern, for my tastes. But she loves it.

Great thread. Love reading this kind of stuff.

just the one... it's a 7-ft (or so???) tree that we put in our family room... I have a 2-ft German feather tree that I sometimes put out on a table with some of my smaller, more fragile glass ornaments, but one of our cats is just a *terror* so I'm not chancing it this year.

in our house, Christmas is pretty much confined to our family room and kitchen; the *common* areas, so to speak.

I have done as many as 8 full size trees at our larger home. In the smaller home I did 2 this year. Mostly because I wanted to get a feel for it before I brought a lot up here from the other house or bought a bunch of new decorations. And then of course smaller or table top trees in every bathroom and other small spots.
