I have a CHI and it is a few years old. It is worn out and I am putting a new one on my list for Christmas.

I was just wondering if there is a different brand that is better out there.

What do you love?

I have owned several cheaper brands ( Hot Tools and Bed Head ) and my CHI is FAR superior to any of them. I just got a new CHI at Target for $99 and got a $20 Target Gift card back with purchase.

After going through a couple of Chi irons, I bought a Sultra Seductress. Best flat iron I've ever used. Heats up within 60-90 seconds, has an auto shut-off (something I really needed), and maintains its heat while in use. My Chi irons would lose their temperature and I'd have to wait for them to heat back up.

They're expensive but worth every penny. Amazon has them for around $150 instead of the listed $210.

I've had my Chi since June of 2005. I use it every single day and have never had a problem with it. It heats up within 60-90 sec. and keeps the same temp the entire time. I love it and if it ever does die, I'll get the same kind again. My DD got hers when I got mine and hers is still going strong also, but she doesn't use hers every day, maybe just about 3-4 times a week.

I was using Chi, but two went out close to each other. I switched to Croc (like this one ) and LOVE it. Mine is slightly different because it's a couple years old now, but it works way better (and I have thick, coarse hair).

I checked out reviews on Folica.com and ended up getting a Sedu. It had better reviews at the time for people with thick coarse hair like mine.

I love my Paul Mitchell flat iron. My first one lasted over five years. That's with salon use, on all day long, four days a week.

I've tried a lot of brands of irons in my salon and always go back to Paul Mitchell.

Dd, who has long, wavy, verrrry thick hair desperately wanted a flat iron for Christmas last year. After reading threads about it on this board, and doing independent internet searches, we ended up getting her a Babyliss Titanium Nano Pro (not necessarily worded in that order, lol).

It is just fabulous! She absolutely loves it. It heats up so quickly and really works to straighten her hair. We got it from Winners (Canadian equivalent of TJ Maxx or other brand name outlet) for a killer deal.

I would suggest checking out some place like that, regardless of what brand you decide to go with. They had a good selection and the prices were just a fraction of internet sites or retail stores.

I have a ghd straightener and the quality blows Babyliss and Chi out of the water IMO. However, I paid a pretty penny for it. But I use it daily and it's worth it for me!

Paul Mitchell irons ARE the best. Tames the three curly heads in this family - we each have our own. Nothing compares.

LOVE my CHI. I have had others by Fhi, ConAir and something else I forget... The Chi is definitely the best of the bunch.

I'm not an everyday user, if that makes a diference...

Had a CHI and replaced it with a Babyliss Pro. I am very happy with my decision.

I got a Babyliss Pro for my birthday in August and I love it. My DD has had one for a couple years and is very happy with it. We think they are much better and last longer than a Chi.

I love, love my Paul Mitchell flat iron. My stylist recommended it and I was hesitant to spend that much but I'm so glad I did.

I have used the Babybliss 1 3/4" for my long hair 4+ years. It is awesome. I would never buy anything else and possible this one will keep on going!

I'm a stylist and I have to say
CHI irons have gone downhill considerably in the last 5 yrs or so. Before that they were the best on the market. Now I refuse to sell them to my clients. The best iron in my opinion around right now is the infra shine. It beats all others hands down and I've used a lot of irons. But I will say the Paul Michell iron is pretty great too. I would stand behind both brands.

I've owned a Paul Mitchell and 2 Chis and I will never own them again.

I bought this Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium about 3 years ago (it was more expensive then) and it is AMAZING. I will never own another brand again. It has tons of heat settings and gets hot very quickly. My hair is very course and curly and it flat irons with ease!

I second this! I've had this for a few years and will buy another one when it goes out. It's great!

yeah, how long is your hair? It may make a difference. I have long hair and do love my babybliss. I think mine is the 1 3/4 too. I love the bigger size.

Some other brands say "one pass" which wasn't true for my long thick hair. This one is true.
