The one that kills me? The "happy baby elephant splashing in the water".
Ummmm... that's a picture of the audio-animatronic baby elephant from the Jungle Cruise at DISNEYLAND, people. LOL! That is NOT a real elephant!!

Three things that really annoy me.
People who post personal photos like its their own Flickr photo stream really annoy me.
People who treat it like Ebay or Etsy and post photos of stuff they're selling. Grr
Also, real estate agents using it as an advertising tool.

Pinterest has become "Old Wive's Tales central"
I just want to post "wrong!!" on so many things.
I also love the recipes that say "this is the best tasting xxxx ever" and then ..."can't wait to try this"
If you haven't tried it, then then why are you pinning that it's the best ever?
I haven't seen porn on Pinterest, I think I am missing all the good stuff.
Never? I see lots, full on nudity males and females and having sex (male/male mostly)... maybe because I am in a different time zone and all the porn pinners are up late at night in the USA. I've reported some of it, but it doesn't seem to be making a difference.

Yes, all the time, mostly on tattoos that look like someone scribbled it with a Sharpie and everyone's declaring it the coolest thing ever.
There was a picture doing the rounds a while back of a starry sky and a wooden path, someone had called it the Stairway to Heaven, a place in Ireland where the stars align every year creating this phenomenon of earth meeting sky in a perfect line. I rubbished it and linked the original source of the picture but people still pinned it as Ireland with cries of 'I need to see this' 'must visit Ireland soon'
I have seen and reported porn, I was scrolling one night and came across a young lady legs spread 'enjoying' herself. I almost spit out my cocoa |

We recently tried the homemade thin mints. Yes they actually are tasty but the original blog suggested they were a frugal alternative to the official Girl Scout version. Adding up the cost of ingredients I think they cost the same!
Others have a whole rave and then say "can't wait to try this!"
If you haven't, don't rave about it. |

I haven't seen what I would call porn. Some artful nudes, but that is it.
Worse than the toothpaste one is the triple antibiotic in the little bits of straws that you melt to seal the ends. That would begin with a colossal mess and end with the house burning down.

I love pinterest, but it really shows just how stupid people are.
There is one that was part of a Worth1000 photoshop contest. It shows a castle on top of a limestone pillar in the sea. Someone titled it 'Dublin, Ireland' and for a long time I would see it posted with 'this is amazing, I have to go see it'.
IT IS NOT REAL
I have commented on them saying... this is photoshop and not real and people have gotten angry at me! I give up.
There is also This 'Beware of Artists' pin which claims "Actual poster from the mid-50’s issued by Senator Joseph McCarthy at the height of the Red Scare and anti communist witch hunt."
Nope. Not even a little bit true. It is an out of context quote taken from Queen Victoria's letters. It is a poster created recently and sent around the internet with this false provenance.

I've tried commenting on pins friends have made that I know won't work and I get ignored. So now I ignore them. let them have the fun of a messy afternoon.
I also laugh at some of these pins that act like something that's been around for decades is new. Like the vinegar and baking soda cleaners or flour sack towels. Or yet another pin of basic chocolate chip cookies with another thing in them, like a different nut, or cranberries. The pinner is raving about how amazing this fantastic new cookie is and I'm thinking "umm . . . chocolate chip cookies . . . wow?" |

Okay, I was just looking through Pinterest and one of the first pins that I came across was the sleep calculator. "Calculate when you need to go to sleep based on what time you need to wake up."
Seriously. These people shouldn't even to be able to use Pinterest (or the Internet, or operate a motor vehicle, or use a toaster).
These are the people that cause companies to put ridiculous disclaimers (like "for external use only" on a curling iron) on their products.

THIS ONE with a spiral bird feeder that holds peanuts always gets me.
The pin says "Peanut Wreath Feeder- coat hanger and a slinky" - okay...if you know anything about a slinky, you would know that if you were to hold it in that shape, it would just droop and you would know it would not be able to support a bunch of peanuts and a bird perched on top of it. Plus, if they click on the link, you can clearly see the description of said feeder says "This 12" heavy-duty, powder-coated wreath" | |

How to unlock your car with a tennis ball had me scratching my head. I find it very hard to believe this would work, but even if it did who the heck is carrying a tennis ball around? Is this a tip for people that frequently lock themselves out of their car at the gym?
The first time I saw it, the description said something about "going to put a tennis ball in my purse right now!" Ok...or you could just put an extra car key in there, which would actually unlock your doors and take up less room. |

I want to know if people just generally have poor taste or just take some weird delight in being overly effusive over relatively mundane food.
I'm no foodie but we made two "rave" recipes today and both were just okay. Brownie Batter dip is basically a way to spend 3x the time and money to end up with the homemade equivalent of canned frosting.
I guess my WTH is what the heck was I thinking?
Time to go back to AllRecipes. The reviews may be wack but at least they expland beyond "Yes Please!" |
