Warning: shows some very distrubing before and after pics of meth users
I think we need more ads like this - I think providing people with graphic, detailed, factual info is the best deterrent. | |

There're so dramatic, kind of like before and after for zombies. Definitely effective.

I think it would be very effective. The changes in some of them are so dramatic. One of the women looks like she's been reasonably badly burnt as well. Most people wouldn't stop and think about what drugs can do to your appearance, so this is a good way of showing it.

I think it's not only a good anti-drug ad, but hopefully a wake-up call to everyone about what a big problem meth is. I don't think our society is taking it seriously enough. |

Oh my gosh. Can you imagine what is going on with their internal organs when there is this much damage showing on the exterior? I really hope that the ads get the message across to anyone that is considering using that drug. |

If only these types of ads worked. Unfortunately, non-users look at these ads and experience disgust and shock, that's good, but there's a lot more that goes into drug use than worry if the user won't look good anymore. Teens look at these ads and think that would never happen to them, or know someone who uses meth that doesn't look like that, thus making the ad ineffective. Meth users don't care, seeing scary pictures of the effects is not enough to stop addiction.
It's too bad these types of scare tactics are not effective prevention. | |

Smoking, especially new kids starting, is going down, so prevention strategies must be doing some good. | |

Great ad, hopefully it gets through to some people, although most think "it won't happen to me". It's scary how quickly they all deteriorated.
The lady about 1/4 way down with the orange striped shirt laying over her, looks like she's dead. And another one looks like she's been burned. Makes me so thankfull I never got into drugs, or even smoked for that matter. |

That IS disturbing. That one woman was in a fire--I remember seeing her story online.
Hate to say it, but I've seen TONS of people that look a lot like that, in towns surrounding where I live right now. Now I know what it's most likely from. Ugh. |

If you think meth is bad you should see what happens to the people who are using "Krokodil" in Russia. That drug literally eats away the skin all the way to the bone. I won't post a link here but you can view it on youtube. IT IS NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACH!

I think kids need to see these types of things. When I was growing up, I was terrified of drugs. Now during red ribbon week, kids are shown a silly cartoon of how bad drugs can be. They need to be shown reality and be absolutely horrified of drugs, what they can do, and the consequences of using. | |

I love ads like this.
Our police department had a say no to drugs campaign
they do in the schools. They show the kids photos like during the meth section.
They track the users and keep they're photos everytime they get picked up.
It's a fabulous deterrent. The kids were thoroughly disgusted |

We have some posters up around my school that are similar in concept...not as dramatic, but one in particular shows a young woman with horrible teeth and open lesions on her arms. |

We have some meth billboards around town with little sayings.
I didn't view the pictures. I just ate and don't feel like it, so I may be incorrect but I doubt these types of pictures would have the effect needed/wanted BUT if they keep even one person from doing it then I say go for it!!! (holy run on sentence batman!)

I think the strategies are more 1) not a lot of places have cigarette machines 2) fines for selling to minors (not really an issue with meth) 3) smoking bans in many places and states (again doesn't really change with meth) |
