Update: So, since I'm not good at completing projects, I put together a facebook page that will be a compilation of journaling prompts, OLW encouragement and the 365 Project . I've done parts of all of these for several years and I thought maybe we could encourage each other. Who wants to join in?

Creative Exercises Facebook Page (I hope I did the fb link right)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am! My OLW *edited* OWL was "intentional" and I did refer back to it quite often over the year! I haven't decide on one for this year but I want to.
Anyone else?
eta*maybe mine should be imperfection-because I have to accept so many.
Can you explain the exercise? Is it one word to describe 2012 or the upcoming year?
My word for 2012 was choices. I found a bracelet with choices on it and wore it all year to remind me. My 2013 word is likely going to be grace.
My 2012 word was "renovation" and I think 2013 is going to be "acceptance".
I love this idea btw, I wish I had heard of it years ago.
enjoytotheend~I'm sorry I missed your post! I love the word, "joy".
catholicone~I'm sure others can explain it much better than me but it's basically one word that is your motto for the year. It's a fun, easy exercise that actually did help me stay focused a little!
Keep the ideas coming!
I picked my word a few days ago. This year it will be SOAR.
Last year it was Faith - it was the first time I picked a word and I was really surprised how much it impacted my year. I was a bit leary at first but it did make a difference.
I'm looking forward to 2013 and SOAR!
In late 2011 someone told me, "watch your horizons" and that really stuck with me so I made horizon my 2012 word. I made a Pinterest board and whenever I saw something that reminded me of that, I pinned it. Kept it in my mind all year and it was the perfect word for 2012.
I choose "limitless" for my 2013 word.
My 2012 word was "moment," as in appreciate and live in the moment with my family.
This year I want to do "prosper." It feels somehow on contrast to last year's word, as if living in the moment and prospering are mutually exclusive (by focusing on my family I earned less money and didn't propel my business ventures forward)
I might switch to "balance" or something like that.
I paid for Ali's class and did the first assignment but then I got stressed for time and stopped.
I think my word last year was intentional and I think I did pretty good with it.
I don't know what my word this year will be? I want to get better at saving money and being happy with what I have.
I don't really celebrate or recognize NYE as a significant day, and I absolutely loathe (loath?) the whole resolutions rahrah, but the concept of One Little Word worked well for me
I am choosing STEADY as my word for this year. I will be having twins in the first weeks of the year and I want to be steady. I know my personality can so veer off of that path, but I want to be calm and steady. I also have lost weight with this pregnancy. In the past I tend to lose 45 pounds afterward. I want to keep a "steady" amount of weight loss going as I know this is my big chance to start very strong and have terrific results!
I've done OLW for a few years. I had to check my blog to remember them all!
Here are my past words:
2007: BELIEVE
2008: FOCUS
2009: BALANCE
2010: SIMPLIFY
2011: LOVE
2012: MORE
My OWL for 2011 was peace. I was having a rough time letting go of control in a lot of my life and I needed something to focus on. I prayed the Serenity Prayer before I got out of bed every morning and before I went to sleep at night. I focused on the word and it really helped me.
For 2012, my word was Connections. I needed to reconnect with friends and family. I needed to reconnect with DH because we were suddenly faced with an empty nest. And I needed to reconnect with me after so many years of being wrapped up in being "Mom" before any other identity.
For 2013, I was torn between Strong and Brave. I think I am going to go with strong. Continuing on last year's theme, I want stronger friendships, a stronger family, and a stronger marriage. I alo want a stronger me, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I think I am actually going to take the class.
2012 was the word "fresh" - I have October's done except for the decorative portion, November's prompt I have not done and I have not yet listened to December.
The word fresh did help me throughout 2012 and our goal (which was achieved and probably why I slacked off towards the end of the year).
Not sure about a word for 2013 - I was thinking "time" because I never seem to have enough of it, so I need to make more time for myself which might seem selfish.
2010 was complete, 2011 was courage, 2012 was celebrate (I flunked), and I don't know yet what 2013 will be. I'm thinking about "pause" because I act or speak without thinking more than I like.
My 2011 word was "heal".
My 2012 word has been "peace" as kind of an anchor to this quote:
Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm.
I found a little silver band that I have been wearing all year and that has really helped in certain situations to the point where I have actually ran my finger back and forth.
I am not sure what I am doing this year. I have been rereading some of the recent pins on my "wise words" Pinterest board thinking that a word will pop out at me.
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." Melody Beattie
My OWL for 2012 was Happy. I did okay with it, better than previous years.
I originally picked Health for 2013 for several reasons but yesterday I had one of those lightning bolt moments and my word is going to be Live. Health will still be a part of what that word means to me but I'm choosing a bigger word that encompasses more of what I need to focus on this year.
My OLW for 2012 was Joy. It's always been a character trait of mine to live with joy- and somewhere along the way, I'd lost it. So my focus last year was to find, embrace and scatter joy. I feel so much more like myself!
My word this year (2013) picked me: Surrender. Makes me nervous, honestly. I struggled with it because I'm a control freak, and because it's a much heavier word in my head. I needed to rediscover the joy in my life last year- but this just seems more intense to me.
I have so many ideas, and plans, and expectations [of myself/my life], and that often turns into anxiety and guilt for all the things I'm not doing... I need to surrender my life again to the Lord, and be watchful for His work in my life... stop being anxious over the future, and instead commit my life, my family and my work to His plans for me, and trust Him to have it all under control.
2013 is going to be an amazing year!
I've never done the Ali Edwards workshop. I just choose a word that I want to make sure to focus on throughout the year. For me, "choices" was a good thing last year. I had to make some hard choices and decisions. But I learned that if I make a bad choice, I have the abilty to start over the next day and make better choices. I saw how my little choices added up to make big changes in my life. It was kind of empowering.
I want to learn to live in "grace" in 2013. I want to live in elegance, be kind to myself and others, be forgiving to myself and others, be peaceful.
It's not called OWL. I think some people are mis-typing or not thinking of the correct order of the letters.
MY OLW is IMPROVE:
This doesn't mean I have to improve everything 100%.
It just means that I should make an effort every day to make an improvement on something - anything.
It doesn't matter how small or large the improvement is.
It just matters that improvement has been attempted!
I haven't done this before, but it's speaking to me this year. My word is choose. I'm having time issues and I need to take responsibility for the choices I am making with my time and other things in my life (health, relationships). I think "choose" will find me on 2peas less and I think that will be a good thing!
I am my word for 2013 is EMBRACE. I have a tendency to focus on what went wrong yesterday and what would happen tomorrow. So in 2013, I will embrace the day and live each moment to the fullest.
2012 was PEACE. I did find peace in a few areas of my life but not all. Maybe by embracing the present next year I will find peace in all aspects of my life.
I am seriously thinking of doing the class. It's only $36 and I think that is a deal if it can help me!
