My 15 year old dd wants to have a sleep over. I am thinking appetizers, fondue and sparkling cider. They can entertain themselves.

Sounds like fun. We will be in Santa Fe, eating steaks and drinking champagne. I don't even like champagne but others in our party do. Maybe I'll buy beer.

Probably hanging out with the kids/DH playing board games. We usually keep it low key. Sometimes we go to a relatives house, but they aren't going to be home this year. Just as well since DH wanted to drive home after midnight last night and it was super foggy (it's an hour drive home).

I told him never again. We either go and stay or don't go.

Annual party of some friends' of ours. It's family party too, so we don't have to try to find a sitter. The card games last year were hilarious.

I think we are keeping it low key this year too, my parents are in town visiting so I think we will just play board games, we are not big 'go outters'

We live in Las Vegas and it is a NIGHTMARE here NYE, I will go out side and watch fireworks.

I'm thinking about letting the kids have a small party. We're west coast so I'm thinking about having it from 6-9:30 and celebrating on eastern time because they're 2nd and 5th graders and I don't want to deal with them until midnight. This way everyone will be back with their families for midnight in our own time zone.

If that doesn't happen we'll have family game night.

We are going to a friends house with our kids. We won't last til midnight but we will go for a couple hours. We have done it several years and enjoy it. Dear friends, homemade food, being at a home (instead of being out), kids around friends and it makes the perfect evening for us. Well, perfect for would be if our 3 year old drifted off to sleep but so far that hasn't happened if we are away from home.

I'll be taking the 12 yo to a church sponsored NYE bash and the 10 yo to a Tae Kwon Do NYE party. Then I'll be trying to stay awake to pick them up at 1 am. LOL~

Pretty sad when your elementary school kids have a more interesting social life than you do.

I found out that Sean Rowe, a singer/songwriter I discovered this year and love, is going to be playing at a nearby town's NYE celebration on the early side. So we're going to go see him, maybe see some other acts and then get home early for some dinner and a movie.

We organize a Euchere tournament at my house every year, it's lots of fun, everyone pays 10.00 to play and we pay out 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. It's mostly family and a few friends, usually 12-16 players and a few who come but don't play cards.

We go skiing. The slopes are open until 1:00 and there are fireworks at midnight. This will be our third year and we love it. I usually go to bed early but for some reason I can make it past midnight if we're outside being active. My daughter is 10 and has made it past midnight on skis since she was 8. Lots of fun, healthy, and no hangovers!

Since having kids, we've kept things low key. Last year we went over to some friends' house. They are coming here this year. Thought about doing fondue but that takes forever. So maybe just fondue dessert .

Skiing, probably. Unless our youngest has no plans, then we have our season seats for hockey. We will take him and a friend, then out for appetizers after. But, I hope he has plans as I'd rather ski.

Not sure what we will do, but most likely she will get to have some friends stay the night.

We are still weighing our options but honestly, it's been such a hectic year and a hectic winter break that I think I want to stay home and play board games and cook together. I can't remember ever feeling as soul tired as I do right now and the idea of going somewhere and being with other people seems miserable.

We're off to a dance.

When our church built the new building, attached to it is the Parish Hall. We were holding Halloween dances at the local legion hall for fundraisers for the new building, and once the building was done, we moved it to the Parish Hall.

That morphed into a New Year's dance last year, so this is the second annual dance. Nice chance to get all dressed up and spend the evening with great friends!

We're having a few people over and cooking several cases of snow crab and then putting on a small fireworks show for our friends and close neighbors.

This is Texas. We don't have regular seasons here. We have Summer 1, Summer 2, Summer 3 and January.

SO and I are staying home.
For dinner we'll have shrimps and stuffed Portobello's (starter) and then Swiss cheese fondue. Can't wait!

At midnight we will go outside to greet the neighbours and watch people light fireworks. We don't buy fireworks because we find it a waste of money. So we'll just watch other people shoot their money up in the air.

Have fun everyone! And stay safe!

We'll probably order a pizza and play some games. It's not a night we want to be out and about, so we always stay close to home.

We're having some friends and my parents over. The adults have a poker tournament upstairs and the kids have a Wii tournament downstairs. There's only 8 of us this year (without kids). We've done bigger in the past but this year I wasn't up for a ton of people, so just our closest friends and their families. That will make my last day of freedom before going back to work and I don't want to spend it cleaning up.

Turning one year older and celebrating with Moni

We haven't decided ... half the team wants to party downtown, the other half wants to stay home. Given how sick we have been over the holidays, I'm thinking the homebodies are going to win. Boo.

My church has a big NYE party. We start with a service and baptisms, then it's party time. Everyone brings appetizers or desserts and we have a huge white elephant auction. The idea is to bring something you would sell at a yard sale. As our pastor stresses, NOT something you throw away at the end of the yard sale.

It's a lot of fun. Everybody gets a ticket. There's a big pile of wrapped gifts in the center of the room. Wheb your number is called you pick a gift. The next person can either pick from the pile or steal yours. You're never really out of the game because your number might get picked again in a redraw.if there's a particularly good item it might get stolen a dozen times throughout the evening. Of course there are a few gag gifts that make an appearance each year.

Ds14 has his eye on a "hillbilly briefcase " - a pair of men's briefs with a handle attached. Somebody brought that back from vacation with the sole intention of this game. If ds wins it this time he doesn't plan on bringing them back. Lol

I've made out pretty well the times we've played. I've got a set of wire shelving, iTunes gc and a bread machine. Perfect timing on that since mine had just died. Dh on the other hand hasn't fared so well. He got a little girl's bath set and a manicure set.

Never mind, I forgot what I was going to say.

we don't really "do" much, but I often also like to have appetizers for supper that night. maybe have a movie night or game night, depending on if we are with the kids or not. Not sure what my son and his wife have planned, though.

Feeling a bit melancholy this year so going to do some things from my childhood NYEs... Going to watch Fantasia (original version was always put on for us kids), light my Firewood scented candles (the fire was always going that night), and eat melon something (the kids would get a special drink with a small amount of melon liqueur in it)... I'm going to make nachos - whole tray, meat and cheese, peppers, two types of onions, sour cream, spices, - just everything, and eat them until I can't stand it no more Like to think I'm going to scrap a bit, but that depends really on how far away I can drag myself from the nachos really A hot bath, clean pjs, clean sheets, and hopefully a really great sleep into 2013

Happy New Year to everyone!

I'll be working (accountant for a big company dealing with month & quarter & year end all at once), so dh is staying a few extra nights with our kids at his mom's house (we're driving there tonight). So, I'll come home, go to bed early (hopefully) so I can be back at work on the 1st.

Good thing we're not big on NYE anyway. When NYE falls on a weekend I can go have some fun, but when it's on a weekday, no chance.

Getting married!!

We have about 100 family members and friends coming to my soon to be brother and sister-in-laws house for a party followed by our wedding ceremony performed by my fiance's great nephew (ordained minister) at the stroke of midnight! I'm so darn excited to see some out of town friends, family members and spend the evening with our children and so many people who love us and mean the world to us!
