I am still trying to decide whether or not to do it. I love the idea of it, but in 2012, I did not fill every pocket with pictures...i have alot of empty holes and wonder if I can go back and redo it...i just feel like my life is mundane, and well, yes, boring and that I don't have enough to fill up every day with stuff...I know people say you don't have to do it "every day", but I don't know how to do it other than that..I wondered if anyone else felt like I do and how to decide whether or not to even try it...

I felt exactly the same way in 2012. My weekdays are pretty routine - work, commute, cook, sleep, watch TV, etc. On the weekends, I may or may not do something that I felt was worth taking a picture. It was an effort to think of things/events to record and I put pressure on myself to come up with something, anything to fill in the empty spaces. To be honest, it was a little depressing. This is supposed to be a hobby & enjoyable, so I decided to give up on PL all together. The good thing that came out of it, is that I took many more pictures than years past and with that came a renewed passion for scrapbooking my own story.

I don't used the divided page protectors to scrap every day or each week.
However, when have empty spots due to not having enough pictures and not wanting more journaling, I filled some of the areas with things that happened locally, regionally, or on a national level. Or movies that were released that week.
Or a blurb about a really good TV show.
I just print it out from the internet.

When we had slow weeks I included 2 weeks into a 2 page layout. When my son went away to his grandparents I just did 8.5x11 photo collage inserts to record that time (his grandma make him a photobook of his time too). I think you can anyway that works for you.
You could even do one month in a 2 page layout. I've seen people use smaller albums like the snap 6x8 album. There are lots of ways to do but you need to figure out if it's something you want to spend the time on.

2012 was my third year in a row to do PL and I got tired of it, so I know how you feel. There were lots of times that I didn't take a photo every day and instead put in 7 photos of something we did that week - Balloon Glow, trip to the lake, flowers outside, etc. That being said, I am going to do a Sn@p binder this year and do one photo per week with one journaling 3x4 per week. The photo will be something I took during the week and the journaling will either explain what is going on in the photo or will be a short overview of what happened that whole week. I haven't decided that yet.
I hear you when it is just days of going to work, coming home, eating dinner, grading papers, etc. I am not sure there is anything interesting to take a photo of or write about. We did a lot of home projects this year, so there are lots of interesting photos on most pages. I also filled in with photos of the cute kitties who live at my place.
As far as filling up those "holes" could you put in filler photos, cut paper that matches, quotes that speak to you? I hate having open spaces, too! |

This is why I switched to a monthly format this year after doing a photo a day in 2011. Doing it monthly meant I needed to find time about twice a month- middle and end usually. I also didn't use the BH core kit. I used the simple stories year.o.graphy paper line and a combination of BH and WRMK protectors.
Have the same plan for 2013 except I will use the Sn@p line.

For me some weeks had a photo a day and other weeks 1 event might cover the week. Just make your PL album your own. |

you're making me want to upload all/most of my plife pics to my blog - we barely have a life and i have 6-8 pics a week, except two weeks... i don't use the potd approach - just 6-8 pics for the week that are a good representation of our week...
i've taken pics of everything from the sunrise and sunset to rainbows and snow... thor, us, our vacation, my school book, my favorite foods - you name it...
hope that helps!

After I've failed miserably at my attempts the past two years, I'm taking a completely different approach this year. The pressure to include something every single day was just too much for me to keep up with.
This year, it's going to be a no pressure and can't fall behind method.
I have all the divided page protectors and a core kit already, so I will simply just add things as I feel like it! I'm thinking about doing spreads of life stories with photos of events past that I never scrapped and tell those stories, too. |

I just purchased PL Colbalt. Something just hit me today and I decided to buy it. I'm just doing a week in review not a picture a day. That seems too intense. I just love the Colbalt collection. Its so pretty! |

I do a week in review for my PL. It makes it not so overwhelming. I add receipts, letters, tags, quotes in the pages that don't have pictures. My life is not that exciting. I love looking back at the pages and remembering the memories. I am so glad I took on this project this year and I'm looking forward to doing it again for 2013.

I'm finishing up 2012, my first time doing Project Life, and I took about three pictures a week. So one 12x12 page protector equaled one week. If I had more than three pictures, say there was a holiday or special event that week, I would add an insert to include the extra photos |

My problem in 2012 was not being organized or at times interested enough to put the pages together. I don't really feel the need to take a picture everyday, but for 2013 I am looking at ways to simplify my album. My current ideas are including a regular week in review area that I will stick in one 4x6 pocket and a current events section in another 4x6 pocket that will cover any important or interesting news event that took place. I think those will be fun to look back on and easy to put together each week. I also plan to keep a stack of grid cards next to my bed to encourage daily writing. |

I tried the weekly thing this year. I made it to march. I got sick and that was it. I tried to make my own kit as well. I think that might be another place I went wrong(for myself). I should have got the kit and used a We r memory keepers album. I also felt like we are that interesting to document weekly sometimes so it felt kinda forced. |

Did anyone else do their's in a month format?? I started in July and made monthly sections. I wasn't organized enough but I think I'd like to continue with that trend and start fresh in 2012. |

My PL 2012 was an Epic FAIL. I found that it was more "work" to feel like I HAD to have pictures for each week (I NEVER would have made it with that daily thing)... The stuff I do may not be interesting or exciting, but there's alot of it and I didn't have time to worry about scrapping every bit of it.
So, next year, I will be sitting it out with the rest of the PL flunkies
I would LOVE to scrap a LO each week... 52 LOs in 12 months, whoa! |

When I started two years ago I decided to call my album " a year of memories" that took the pressure away for me. I started on jan 1 and just moved forward. I filled the spaces when I had a picture or memoribila. If you start with a good attitude you can enjoy the ride |

I am.
I started out 2012 doing weekly pages. It got to be too monotonous. I did that through about the end of April, first part of May. After that, I switched to monthly pages, and just hit the highlights for the month. That was more do-able, and I'll finish my December pages this weekend and order my book (I did a digital PL).
I like having it, but I'm not sure I'll do it again. I think this might be the year I get back into regular scrapbooking again. PL was almost all the scrapbooking I did this year, other than a handful of traditional pages and several digital layouts. I guess I just want more, and since I have limited time, I think I'd rather do regular pages.
Still trying to decide, though.

I love the concept of PL, but I just don't like doing it! I've started a PL album two different years and never get passed Feb. or March. I love the way others PL pages look and I even have a PL file on Pinterest, but I just don't enjoy the process. *The one reason that I'm hanging onto all the PL kits I've bought (and I've bought Cherry twice, Clementine, Cobalt and Turquoise) I do think the concept would be great to catch up on old photos when I go to a crop weekend. I think taking the Turquoise kit and a box of my boys' photos when they were babies/toddlers to a long weekend crop would be win/win for me! |

I was on the fence about it. I thought of digi, paper, not doing it, doing 3 photos a week, ect....
But, as odd as this may sound...I asked for guidance from a Higher Power. Yep, I am going to continue.
I am going to make a list of things I want to photograph for PL. I'll check off the items as I photograph them. |

I am going to do it, but ai am on the fence about using a 12x12 album or the 8x8 size. I have a bunch of the 12x12 WRMK page dividers, but it seemed to sometimes be a huge challenge to fill it. It's just DH and I....do we really need that big album??
I was just at A's this afternoon and was super close to buying a chevron AC 8x8 album. Decided to sleep on it before making my final decision. I'm so indecisive!!

I am trying it - I guess you could say. I have year-o-graphy from SImple Stories that I have not yet used. I am planning to use the kit and divided page protectors to scrapbook 2013. No required amount for each week or month. No required journaling cards, pre-defined formant, or anything. Just a full collection kit to keep it cohesive. Then, I will fill-in with my stash. We'll see how it goes.

I'm going to do it for 2013. Its just hubby, me and the dog. I went to A's tonight and picked up the snap stuff. I am going to give it a go with the snap 6x8 album as well. Have decided to do 2 pages a week. I picked up hte pages with he 4 spots for 3x4's and then the pages with the 4x6 and 2 3x4's. So I will have 7 spots, but don't plan on doing a pic every day at all. Maybe 3-4 at the most. I think I'm going to run it through Nov and then do a seperate for my DD

2012 was my first year doing a PL style album. I like capturing little things without having to commit to a full layout though I definitely do not entirely follow the traditional PL format. First, I'm an 8.5 x 11 scrapper. I do a hybrid of computer generated journal spots, printed photos and my stash. I also don't stick to a weekly format. Sometimes I do an entire month on a 2 page spread, sometimes 2 weeks and sometimes weekly. I also mix some traditional layouts in the album. It really depends what is happening, what I feel is worth recording or how I feel like scraping. I'm still enjoying this process so will continue. I think the important thing to remember is it's your album...you shouldn't feel you have to capture a photo a day, stick to a weekly format or even do PL.

I am. I failed so miserably at Project 365 this year. I tried, I did, but we just don't have enough going on. Then we got our youngest, my service dog, and I'm so exhausted from training a puppy for something so serious (even if he is for me) that I just kind of lost it.
Next year I want to focus more on weekly things going on. The REAL day to day. If I just sat in front of the computer, what did I do? Did I read? Did I finish a book that week? What was DH playing on his computer? Did he share time with friends? Did we watch movies at the theatre? At home? What music did we listen to? Special TV shows? Were there any quotes that helped me that week?
Random crap like that should fill in the boring parts of our childless life and the fact that DH goes to work and I stay home and colour all day, lol! |

Aeryn - you should totally make some 3x4 or 4x6 "cards" to add. Color them up, embellish as usual, the whole thing. It is a huge part of your life and I think that would be a great way to document and preserve your artwork. Just my two cents.
Generally speaking, I am not a traditional scrapper so this really appeals to me. I see these pages with one amazing photo and all kinds of layered embellishments and it scares me to death. A photo, a journaling card, a little washi or stamping if I feel like it ... Or not. That I can do!
For traditional scrappers, maybe you should pick up some EP page protectors (because they come in smaller packs) and try just adding them to your normal album for a while. If you hate it, you will have an interesting addition to your traditional album, and a few weeks documented. If you love it you can pull those pages out and start a PL album. That is my plan in reverse for this year. If I have a picture and some mojo I might do a "traditional" layout here and there in my PL album and see how it goes.
