We're still not done renovating!! 15 months ago we all laughed, saying there was no way the house wouldn't be finished before LAST Christmas, and here we are headed into another new year and I still don't have a kitchen.

Our new house was supposed to be done by October, but here we are, still crammed into our little rental.

Our new finish date is late January. I'm guessing if we're in by Valentine's Day, we'll be feeling lucky.

We just moved 15 miles from our old military home into a much nicer rental. My husband will be working out-of-state for the next year, and we will decide if we'll buy a home and move there with him when it gets closer to the end of his initial contract, or if he'll come back here to work. Right now there is stuff everywhere, but I'm taking a bit of a break before I jump into organizing it all .

Downsized from our 1,457 sq ft townhouse in Washington State to a 488 sq ft condo in Honolulu, Hawaii. BIG, big lifestyle change. And I also went through some depression because it is so different and not the paradise everyone feels while vacationing. No scrapping friends here like I had before moving. In fact I have not even scrapped yet here. I have made a few cards and a couple of projects, but no actual scrapbooking and I miss it. TIME and SPACE are lacking here.

We moved over 1,100 miles on June 24th. We closed on our new house 2 days later. The movers then delivered 432 boxes the next day. There are still many boxes to unload! I am SO tired of boxes but thankfully they are in the 2,000+ sq. ft. basement so I don't have to look at them. I can unpack at my leisure as we really have everything we need out right now (I think). LOL! But I must say I LOVE our new location. I told the kids I pray I can live out my years here and be buried here.

We moved just a year ago. I had just had a breast reduction a month before.... But the time was right for us. Not too far away from our other house though.

Started renovating this place when my husband got into a bad accident but is ok. He had two surgeries so that wasn't fun!

So here we are with lots to do and money is tight but were pretty grateful for our health and family.

We bought a new house and moved in October. It all went smoothly...we LOVE our new house. We're completely unpacked, but it'll have to wait for spring and warm weather to do things to the house that we want.

6 years ago we moved from Syracuse to Buffalo for DH's job. I kept my job and worked from home.

Just before Christmas last year DH started a job back in Syracuse. He moved in with my Grandma and I stayed in the house until it sold.

At the end of June we sold our Buffalo house and moved into our Syracuse house. After 6 months of living apart and seeing each other on weekends, we all lived under the same roof again.

I went back to working in the office again and am loving being close to my family again.

We moved 20KM into town in the summer. Much better for my daughter who has now spends 20 minutes a day on the bus instead of 1.5 hours. DH can walk to work (which seems to happen about once per month) and I am about a 15 - 20 minute drive to work instead of 45 - 50 minutes.

A little less space and since we're going back to our old neighbourhood for NYE - it's going to be different that I can't walk home to my house at 1:00 while DH stays later if he wants. I'll be the designated driver and I'll end up staying a lot later than I'd like because he doesn't get to see his friends nearly as often.... I'm not sure how I feel about that.

But we're having an interior decorator come over next week to give us idea for furniture placement and wall colours which will be really helpful to me so I'm really looking forward to that and to making a few changes now that we've been in it for 4 months.

breast reduction - melissa, how'd that go? either no one ever posts back about their reduction or I miss those threads!

I think I have 3K or more boxes stacked all around me. I also think they'll become furniture eventually...

still living w/o a fridge. hope to get that moved here in a few wks.

I do like having heat, a/c and more space.

On June 28, 1787, as Governor of Pennsylvania, Benjamin Franklin hosted the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, where he moved:

"That henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning."

Franklin wrote April 17, 1787:

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."

Benjamin Franklin wrote his epitaph:

We moved from a 1,000 sq ft duplex in California to a 2,500 sq ft house in Minnesota.

The actual move went smooth, the drive was so beautiful as I have ALWAYS been in California.

I'm used to the 80* - 100* temps, so this negative 20 is a shocker. There is TONS of snow everywhere, faced my first ever blizzard, getting used to not having everything within 10 miles. Hecht, I have to drive 57 miles just for Taco Bell. Our city from one end to the other end is 4.5 miles. There is vast open land between cities. Traffic here is more than 2-3 cars going the same way as you, lol.

I miss my kids and grandkids something terrible. We do a lot of FaceTime tho, so that helps.

I'm getting used to it, and actually love it.

We moved to a brand new home back in Feb in the same neighborhood/community & saving over $300/a month!!! It's literally 2 min from our old house! LOVE the new house & location! Our new neighbors are so wonderful & our boys have become best friends. They're the same age, they both play baseball, & are very similar in personalities. Best move we've made.

We have a huge lanai which our cats love & it's so beautiful & peaceful to sit out there. No neighbors to our left & we have our own cul-de-sac. The only negative about the house is that it doesn't have a lot of wall space (very open plan) & it has no attic! This is forcing us to get rid of stuff! Hoping to be in this house for a LONG time!

We moved from Illinois to Texas in November. And apparently brought Chicago weather with us.

We're living in a little 1-bedroom apartment right now temporarily until our new home is finished at the end of February.

Assuming there isn't snow on the ground until then. . .

MsGreenGenes, you're scaring me! We sold our house in October and moved into a rental while we build. Our rental is only available thru June, so I hope and pray our new house will be done by then! Renting stinks -- we're still living out of boxes and I have no real desire to unpack any more. (That just means more to pack up in the summer!) CAN'T WAIT to have a real house and scraproom again!

We moved from Kissimmee, Florida to Central Ohio in July. Went from a 6 bedroom house we owned, to renting a 3 bedroom house less than 1/2 the size of our Florida house. And we love it!! A lot more family time, not so many places to 'escape'. Now if my husband can just find a job here, we'll be even better!

We sold/donated over half our posessions and I am so happy we did.

I moved a mile away from my old house. My old neighborhood was upper middle to rich. My new neighborhood is more working class. I love it. I went to my old wards Christmas party where there were cloth napkins, professional decorations, sophisticated set designs for the program and prime rib. My new ward had bright lights, turkey, paper plates and napkins, a slide show for the program and different groups singing. While both were awesome parties, I enjoyed the looser family atmosphere at my new ward. I feel at home. I am with my people. If that makes sense.

I have a small home on a small lot that I absolutely love. I have found that I love to clean the kitchen. I have a u shaped kitchen that is a joy to work in. Since I purged a ton of things two years ago there wasn't much to unpack this move. I moved on June 27th and was unpacked completely in a month. I love living in a small home. It is so cozy. My electric went from $800 during the high month to $250 in the high month. My mortgage is $455!

The new neighborhood is teeming with children. My last home was on a gated community with mostly empty nesters and empty streets. My daughter has lots of friends now.

This move is in the top ten blessings I have had this year!

We moved in with my parents in feb and then into our finally finished Reno in April. The Reno took 8 months. We are nicely settled, but still haven't fully furnished or decorated. We're also waiting in some final touches to be finished. We landscaped the front last summer and we're doing the back this coming spring.

I have loved the move. We moved from a 3200 sq ft house in the suburbs (35 min drive to school) to a 2400 sq ft house right in the middle of the city (5 min drive to school). It has been life changing. We're not in the car as much, we're outside a lot more, we're close to so much that we're always busy, and we're much more social because we're closer to more of our friends.

What a fantastic move!

Paige.

Well... lol
We moved into an apt in MN late last year after we sold our home. We were waiting for our home in IL ( a short sale) to go through. Since it was a relo, the packers/movers came and packed everything up (over 400 boxes) and placed all of our homes belongings in 2 30ft units. We closed on our home in June(kids were able to finish school) so we packed up the apt., cats and kids and headed to IL. It was crazy. It took us 4 months to empty both storage units.... which was a major pain. But, since we have a full unfinished basement....all boxes went there. lol We still need to paint and get new carpet - carpet will be done in Jan/Feb. It is stressful to know that there are so many boxes in the basement.
On the bright side, we love the house and the neighborhood. Our subdivision has a pool and basketball courts which my kids love and it really helped in them making friends fast. This home feels like home - even though we are no where near done with decorating, etc....

We moved from Korea to Northern Virginia in July, it took a month as we shipped our car to Seattle, spent time with my family, drove through California and the southwest for a vacation, stopped in Missouri to see relatives, and finally got here.

I hate it here. We lived here before moving to Korea, so it isn't "new", normally we move somewhere we've never been. It's so stinking expensive, the traffic sucks, I hate our 80s house and housing is so expensive we won't have anything nicer...ever. Dh will retire in a few years, and the job market for him is here, so we are stuck. The kids are making friends and getting a routine finally, but I'm pretty miserable.

Ah, moving. What an adventure.

About a year and a half ago, we sold our home of 10 years. DH had been laid off, and got a new job 1 1/2 hours away. We decided to move closer. (His new job gave us relocation money!)

We moved into a rental before buying so we could check out the new area. We started looking, and about that time, my MIL decided she didn't want to live alone any longer. So, we invited her to live with us, and started looking for a bigger home.

We found one at is about 2600 sq ft, with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and an absolutely beautiful pool area and fenced yard. Scheduled to close Sept. 15.

At the end of July, I had heart surgery, and then spent most of August in the hospital with an unrelated problem, with got taken care of with an unexpected hysterectomy at the end of August. We moved two weeks later!

The day we closed on the house, DH got a kidney stone, and I had to take him to the emergency room at about 4 am. He passed the stone in time to get to the closing! The next two days we moved, using my son and his buddy as our movers (I BEGGED DH to get movers, but he insisted on doing it ourselves...). On the Monday after the move, DH got a second kidney stone.... but it passed and he was ok.

In November, we started working with MIL to get her sorted out and packed - she had lived in her home for over 25 years. She kept saying "I don't have very much stuff", but then discovered how much stuff she had. We had to help her make many decisions on what to keep, what to get rid of, etc. It was tough. On December 7, she moved in with us, and now our garage is half full of stuff we need to get rid of. (She keeps saying "I can't believe I had all that! What was I thinking?!"

We are still recovering! It's been a lot. I'm still getting used to our new neighborhood, and we are feeling just a little squished with four adults here (me and DH, MIL and my 26 yo DS).

We are hoping that 2013 is much calmer!
