It actually annoys me that they get paid to be on tv.

I cant even put into words what I think about this show. And I swear, I just sat here with my mouth hanging wide open just like this

You are surely not missing a thing. I made them change the station. If they want to rot their brains on this crap they can do it when I am not in the room.

It really is sad to think that the general public is entertained by something so unintelligible.

I wasted about an hr of my life that i will never get back. Ugh that show is stupid. I did hear almost all the money from the show goes into a college fund for each girl. Do college will be paid for. The mom set it up. Only responsible thing i think she has done.

The mom has been quoted saying she won't allow any of her girls to spend the money they've gotten from the show. It is going in a trust to be used for school or medical emergencies until they are 21.

There's a market for it, obviously, so good for them for taking advantage of it and hopefully the future generations of their family won't have to fart and burp on tv for money.

At first I was annoyed but now it just makes me sad.

That's me. Very sad.

That our society celebrates parents that teach a 6-year-old little girl to say - ON TV - "Dollah makes me hollah" like a little stripper. And - on camera - squeeze her belly and make comments about it. (I refuse to watch the show but I've seen those beauties on previews).

I don't care how "funny, down to earth, blah blah" they are, that is just wrong. I hope they're saving the money for their kids' therapy. Lots and lots of therapy.

I don't watch it but I don't go around judging others if they do. People watch all kinds of crap and it is hardly the worst out there. I don't watch any reality tv and think it is stupid but I don't call those that do dumb or worse.

I'm watching it now and I love it. I have posted the reasons why on other threads.

Since you don't like it, you won't be watching so oh well.

As for the poster who doesn't respect their friends who watch, I'm sure that is their loss.

There are people like that who live in south Ga. It's unfortunate they are paid to act so stupid. I would imagine there are other places in the south where people act this way without acting. Gives the south a bad name much like Dukes of Hazzard made everyone think there were no paved streets in Ga. LOL

I saw a few minutes of the Halloween episode.

They showed one of the older daughters picking her nose and, I kid you not, then sucking on the finger. I changed the channel.

I just don't understand that being entertainment.

I agree, and I DO watch lots of reality television. Where this one gets to me is because children are ridiculed and exploited. By the adults who are supposed to protect them. This stuff is on film. It won't go away, ever. Even when they're adults and hugely embarrassed by it all. Same reasons I didn't watch John & Kate Plus 8 and the shows to follow. Or Toddlers and Tiaras, etc.

The Bachelorettes who make themselves look desperate and needy? Adults
The NJ Guidos and Guidettes who make themselves look like stupid alcoholics? Adults
The Real World'ers who make themselves look like stupid alcoholics? Adults
The Survivors who lie, cheat, and steal to win some money? Adults

Like I said, it just makes me sad for those children and that we're all (as a society) okay with it all. More than okay.

I agree with Journeyfan. Admittedly, my bar is pretty low as far as reality shows, but I don't like seeing children involved. They don't understand the possible long term ramifications of what will be forever on film.

I can't imagine why anyone who either choose to be on a reality show, from Real Housewives to Judge Judy and Jerry Springer, or watch one. I'd be mortified to have the entire country watching me, or my family, behave the way those people do...and yes, they are 'those people', ewwww, I never want to be in the same room with any of them.

Some news program was talking about Honey Boo Boo a few days ago.

Apparently, TLC has taken quite the advantage of how uneducated this family is. They are paid $15,000 per episode. I didn't quite get if it was total or per person. They did say the girls' money was set aside for their education and not spent.

However, they went on to mention how much the Housewives and Jersey Shore (?) people get paid per episode. I can't remember how much exactly. But, the difference was obscene!

Mama Boo Boo sold her family extremely short.

I really enjoy the show irrespective of some of the gross behaviour on it. They aren't doing drugs, they aren't drinking up a storm... they're just having fun and being loud with their family. I think it just comes down to different strokes for different folks. Now if you asked me why people enjoy generic shows like Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives (when it was on) or Private Practice, I wouldn't be able to tell you. That boggles my mind.

Gilly.

If I had to choose a reality show person to hang out with and have fun it would be the Honey Boo Boo clan before any trashy Kardashian or anyone from the Jershey Shore. They are dumber than us but the are harmless. She actually takes the money earned and puts it in a trust for the girls. Who else on a reality show does that?

I thought about canceling TLC from my cable package for a few months. The kids were watching marathons of bizarre shows on holidays I saw the ad for Here comes Honey Boo Boo and dropped that package from cable a few days later. That channel is crap. Remember when it was actually The Learning Channel? It's more like the circus act channel.

In its place, the kids watch HGTV, the Food Network, the Blue Jay games and Oasis tv.

I have no problems with others if you love HBB. Not my thing.

I'm sorry, but this statement comes across as pretty snotty!

I've met many people from "educated" families in New England who have such strong accents that I can barely understand them.

Try listening to someone with a strong LA/Cajun accent, and I doubt most people outside that area will understand them either.

Regional dialects/accents are found ALL OVER the United States, and it can be hard for people outside those areas to understand them.

A strong southern/"country" accent or use of southern dialect is no different than the use of a strong New England accent/dialect, but unfortunately, there is a very strong bias against anyone who speaks in that manner as it is usually assumed they are less intelligent. Not true!

I've watched some episodes, but don't go out of my way to see it. My feeling is that they are just being real. That is who they are, and you know what? I have more respect for "uneducated, gross, backwoods-hick" kind of folks like these than I do the better-educated and rich "semi-celeb-wannabes with uptight and entitled attitudes" on the Housewives shows. That is just the way I feel. If it isn't your cup of tea, that is fine too, I understand. One thing you won't see me do is judge my friends or anyone else about what they prefer to watch on tv. That screams "arrogance" to me.

I'm a little disappointed this season as it seems after only one previous season, they've felt the need to take it up a notch in shock value.

But overall, I think if you can look past the nose picking and the farting and the endless pounds of butter, you'll see a family who seems to genuinely appreciate and love one another. And they have fun together.

They're not pretentious or frivolous or cruel or judgmental. They are just who they are...and I find I can appreciate who they are.

I dont do reality other than on Food Network. I even gave up Idol years ago and X factor last 1 season for me. I have never watch the Kadashian shows. I wont.

I agree with the poster who make comment about how the actors must be bothered people would rather watch reality crap over a show that has a story line, characers that are developed ect.

And it may be comedy, but I find it disgusting and basically a bad joke for programing.
