Ok, this is starting to get annoying to a point... This is what usually happens: browsing through the store I usually see an item that I'm in interested in buying. Since the digital image can differ quite a lot from the actual product I want to see the product used in a layout, therefore I check the related projects to try and spot it somewhere. Lately I have almost no luck in doing this since the product is rarely used in the layouts linked. It's somewhat disappointing since I try and spot a product in, say, nine layouts and see the actual product used in one (if any) of them.
The only reason I can think of doing this is to show products that would create a similar look, although I personally feel that I have no problems doing this myself. If a layout uses a lot of washi and I want to create a similar look I go to the washi section in the store and browse, I don't really need 50 rolls of washi not used in the layout linked to it.
To me it does make shopping here a bit more difficult, I often fall deeply in love with particular products of certain styles or brands that I "have to have". Therefore I'm interested in knowing about that particular product and not several others in the same category that could replace it. Maybe there could be two ways to link a product, one as "actual product" and one as "similar item" or something? For me it would help a great deal, and it would make shopping here a lot less annoying....

I have had the same frustration. I love to see how others have used a product. Or check the size of some items that have limited descriptions and are lacking the real life photo with the 2 Peas ruler. I do love those ruler photos.
I think linking similar items or a brand of item is done mostly by the Garden Girls and design team members from various companies. In both cases, the goal is selling items. But I agree it is frustrating when you want to see a specific product in particular. |

I agree!
I wish the GGs could have two sections: the products actually used in this layout and those that are related or would create a similar look. The lists on the video links are getting so long that I don't scroll through the products anymore; I just go to the homepage and search for the item. I believe they rewarded more when folks buy directly from their videos so it seems to be shooting themselves in the foot (at least in my case).

I agree. I just had this problem yesterday. I think Cade's idea of having 2 options forGG would be good. |

I agree! The list is often huge and there is no way for me to track down what they actually used.. |

Sometimes when I add a paper I used, the wrong patterned side shows by default and looks nothing like the side of the paper I actually used. |

I really like your suggestion of having two separate options. One for those who want exactly what we've used, and a second for additional items you might consider or already have on hand.
We'll definitely suggest it to Jamie.
We want to make sure you are getting as much as you can out of the tutorials, videos, etc. but we also don't want to cause any headaches.
You guys always have such great ideas. |

I can understand it can be frustrating. I too LOVE the idea of splitting it. |

I like that idea too. I dislike when I am in the store trying to see what something looks like IRL and none of the linked pages actually use the item.

I agree that it would be nice to have the two sections. Products used and Related products.

2 sections would be great!
But I definitely understand what biochemipea explained happening sometimes, too. |

I was just wondering about this the other day! I think the two sections thing would be wonderful. |

I do agree that using the layout examples linked in the store can be really frustrating.
I recently was trying to find a specific shade of misting ink an trying to look at linked product layouts to figure out what I wanted. Most of them didn't appear to use any ink, or had all the mists linked and I couldn't figure out which blue was the one I wanted. |

Very few products have it, but occasionally I see a photo of a product shown against a L-shaped ruler that gives a better sense of the size. As far as I know there isn't a way to do it for everything, if there is such a photo for a product you'll see it when click on the link to look at the product.
