I asked a few hours ago for opinions on Saturn Vue vs. Chevy Equinox (both used cars we were looking at). We're leaning toward the Saturn. It has lower mileage and is in better condition, plus is an 08 vs. the equinox an 05. The only thing is, we don't know anyone with a saturn and don't know much about them like problems with the vehicles, etc.

Anyone have a Saturn that can chime in on your satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the

My parents had a Saturn Outlook and loved it, but they sold it when the mileage got too high. My only concern would be who would provide you with service since there are no Saturn dealers in business any longer. But I would think that would be easily remedied since they are essentially built on GM frames, IIRC.

We own a 2003 Saturn ION and a 2006 Saturn VUE. We bought both of them new. We have loved both cars and have never had any problems with either of them. My Mom has a 2007 Saturn VUE, and she loves hers too. I wish they still made Saturns because they are awesome cars.

Didn't Saturn go out of business? If so, it will be hard to get parts if something goes wrong once existing parts are gone.

Our daughter has a Saturn. The A/C died last summer and it cost us 800.00 to fix it because the parts are so hard to find. Stay away. Parts are a nightmare.

We have a Saturn Sc2, it was the last year they made that model. We've never had an issue with it. GM does our service work and carries parts for it. We have a Honda CRV and the Saturn, I'd buy another Saturn if they were still in business over the Honda.

My last car was a Saturn SC1. I loved it! The only reason I bought a new car is the Saturn was totaled. This chick ran a red light and t-boned us.

Overall, my little Saturn was a great car. I bought it used (2 years old), had it for 5 before it was totaled, and loved it. I would consider another Saturn if they were still in business.

Our current vehicle is a Honda CRV. I love it too! It gets better gas mileage than my SC1 did, and the SC1 got good gas mileage too. Honda, Saturn... both good companies.

ETA: Stephi, I think we're car twins! WEIRD!!! LOL!

My grandma had a Saturn and loved it. I don't know what year it was, but my dad is still driving it, and Grandma passed away in 2004, so it's at least a few years older than that!

Yep! Pennyring! Car twins! I really do love my Saturn, the suicide door is the best part next to how reliable it is.

We have a 2008 Saturn Vue. Bought it new. If they still had them I would buy it again. The problem is after 5 years they no longer have to supply parts which can be a problem. The Chevy Equinox is almost identical and uses most of the same parts (which they do not offer this info when you are looking for parts) Saturn has a customer care number and they are WONDERFUL. I will buy another GM product just because of them. Certainly not the GMC dealership we went to that told us there was no part available and would probably take 6 months if we were lucky. (Air conditioning problems) This was on a Thursday. I spoke to Saturn Customer Care on Friday and on Monday the Service Manager called to say if I brought my car in by 1p.m. I would have my repaired car (under warranty) back by 4p.m. Don't mess with a menopausal woman without air conditioning

I have had 3 Saturn's total. My first was a 2002 SC2. It was great until it was totaled. Then I bought a 2006 Saturn VUE. It never gave me any problems either until it was also considered a "total loss" in a minor accident this past summer. I now have a 2008 Saturn VUE. No problems either. It is more streamlined than my '06, however, I don't like the cupholders or lack of a middle armrest, but those are minor things. It is a great overall vehicle.

I had a Saturn SL2 I think, traded that in for a 2003 Saturn VUE that I sold/traded in this past summer for a Kia Sportage. I loved my VUE but it was time for me to get a new car and since they don't make Saturns anymore, I had to look for something new. I had no major repairs and didn't have any problems after Saturn closed, I just went to my local GM dealer and it was fine. I hit 100,000 miles at the beginning of the summer and I was coming up on 10 years and I knew that repairs were going to start getting a lot more costly.

My mom still has her VUE (I think it's a 2007?) and she loves it. She takes it to her local Chrysler dealer and has never had issues with service or parts. She also had an SL2 before trading it in. My grandma had a Saturn also.

The VUE was a great size car for me, it drove well, got good gas mileage and was very practical for my lifestyle.

I have a saturn and was super disappointed when they closed the brand because I was set to be a saturn customer for life. My car is a 2001 that I bought in 2005 with 41,000 miles. I've put another 140,000 on it.

I've put a lot into it this year-- some engine parts, some rewiring, a fuel sensor, a security computer thing (that was expensive, around $800), a new blinker switch, a new battery-- but I chalk that up to it having 186,000 miles, not any poor quality in the workmanship. I think I only needed one repair in the first few years that I had it (an electrical issue) and it was covered under the warranty.

I had a 1998 Saturn that I loved. I bought it new and drove it until it died. My dh has a 2005 Saturn with 138K miles on it that runs great. I wish they still made them. One of my new stepsons was a top salesman for Saturn in our area for many years. He loved the company.

We bought a 2009 Saturn Outlook just before the closing was announced. I was a little leery at first but GM has taken over service and we've had absolutely no issues with parts or service including front end damage from a deer we hit. Love this vehicle!

I had a 97 SL that we sold a few years ago when we got a minivan. The expense for parts now that they are no longer made would concern me.

A small issue I had is that the paint didn't look nice at all after about 5 years. I'm not sure if this is a Texas/heat issue, but I have noticed the same thing on other older Saturns that I see around town.

We have a 2004 Saturn Vue and it's been a great vehicle for us. When we bought our house 5 years ago, we realized we were the 4th Saturn Vue on the street. Three of us still have our Vues.

My parents bought a 1994 2 door coupe new in 1994. They had it for 3 years, then I had it until 2006. My FIL drove it until 2008 when we sold it to a family friend. Her DDs drove it until 2011 when it got crunched

We all loved that little car. It was the teal green and super fun to drive. We always had good luck with customer service and it rarely needed repairs.

I'm not sure how it is now that Saturn has gone out of business.

I have a 2004 Vue & I swear this thing is indestructible. It's got almost 250,000 km on it & i would still pack it up & drive it to Florida tomorrow without any hesitation. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's a standard, and I wish it was automatic. I also wish I had AWD because of the snow around here. The only problem I've had with it is that the check engine light is on - because the gas cap (a replacement) doesn't fit properly. I do wish the interior was bigger, but for everyday use it's perfectly great.

My one and only solo car purchase was a 1997 Saturn SL1. I miss it. I sold it to my uncle when child #3 was on the way in 2002. He still drives it but I think he only drives 3000 or so miles a year.

Loved our 1999 three door coupe. We got 130k miles out of it and I think it would have lasted longer, but our kids drove it into the ground. Engine had a crack, so we donated it.

Still have a 2003 sedan, which my 23 yo drives. Not sure of mileage because everytime you start it the miles roll back to zero. We think it is close to 120k and it still runs like a gem.

I have a Saturn. It's a 2001 L200 (Sedan). It's been a great car. I bought it as a year old preowned with low mileage. It's our only car and it's been great. Until recently I've only had one thing happen that wasn't standard maintenance. The tranciever/receiver for the keyless entry went bad after I had the car for a few years. Unfortunately to get it fixed was the whole computer board which is a few hundred dollars just for the part.

I eventually got it fixed.

Brakes have been a bit expensive because when they wear out there is not enough material to turn them so the rotor need to be replaced everytime instead of every couple times. I understand this is true though on many cars now because it's one way manufacturers cut weight.

Now that the car is 12 years old we have a slow leak of coolant but we don't know where it's comeing from.

In general it's been a great car.

This totally made me laugh -- my DH knows this sooooooo well. Ha.

Saturns are great cars. I've never personally owned one, but everyone I know who has had one has LOVED it.

We have a 2003 Saturn Vue. It has about 230,000 miles on it and just had a few things repaired on it. It was 800.00 to fix. Pretty good for a car that old with that many miles on it. I didn't want to throw anymore money in to it but we did. Better then new car payments. Car is in great shape and with AWD it's great in all the Minnesota snow that we get.

I had a 2006 vue that I leased. Unfortunately, I turned it in at the end of the lease and they had sold all their last cars. I would have loved to have another. The VUE and Equinox are the same car, use the same parts - both GM made - just different names.

I've had two. The first one was the little sedan four door. It was a pretty decent car. My second one which I currently one is the 2008 Aurora and I HATE it! I so want my Murano back that we traded in summer before last on it to reduce our payment. There are so many little things that are falling apart on the car that shouldn't be. The car is deprecating faster than a speeding bullet so I can trade it in! It rides great it's just has too many little things breaking and it only has 69k miles on it.
