What do you use to store your paper vertically/upright that is NOT a Cropper Hopper in an Expedit?
I like to shift through my paper when it is standing upright. Currently I have my most-used papers in standing boxes I made out of old Fed Ex and Priority Mail boxes that I saved from shipments and taped back together. It is functional, but as you can imagine, not pretty.
I think I picture having my paper all standing out along a counter or something, so I can easily see it all. And even more importantly, easily PUT IT AWAY!
Maybe I can put the ugly boxes in some nice looking wire baskets or something..

My CH paper holders are on a shelf my dad built for me...hey,. at least it's not an Expedit!
Archiver's puts clearance paper in a sort of bin/open storage and lines them up on the counter at the back of my store...super easy to flip through. Sounds like what you want! |

You could cover your boxes with pretty papers or neutrals.

I've done that. Here's a pic. It's quite old now but still going strong.
It's in my gallery if you want a bigger view. |

I tried using hanging file folders and hated it, so when I had a regular shelf, I saved my 12x12 boxes from online orders and made them into paper holders. They stuck out, but it worked great. I covered them in shelf liner. I kept each colour family in a separate bag (with the ziploc cut off) so I could just pull the colour I wanted out.
When I moved my scrap stuff into the family room, I used a 12x12 cube on a regular bookcase, again with the paper bagged by colour. It worked great, but I couldn't fill the cube so I always had to put stuff in front of it to keep the paper upright.
I've now moved my bags of cardstock onto a shelf (sorry, it's an Expedit), and use a bookend to keep them upright. There's about 3" of cardstock. I also keep my most recently purchased pattern paper in a bag. The rest goes into a 12x12 box I can sift through, but it is pretty much all scraps. I don't even know if there are full sheets in there. Full sheets rarely make it out of the 'new stuff' bag.
That probably isn't overly helpful, really. Most scrappers deal with a lot more supplies than I do. The bag thing really worked for me, though (and you can always sort by manufacturer or collection). I can keep my 12x12 and scraps all together which is great as I always have lots of off-cuts since I'm an 8.5x11 scrapper, and since I use my scraps all the time I know exactly where to find what I want.
In an ideal world, I'd love a 12x12 filing cabinet/drawer that I could subdivide and put my bags o' paper in. |

I think she is trying to find a way to store her paper IN an expedit & NOT use copper hopper storage to do so.. If I read your post correctly OP?
I don't have vertical paper storage so I'm no help! I once did have it that way in the same USPS boxes and even with my covering them I hated it.. So then i tried to us the metal cube system from target and made it Into paper racks and it took up way to much room and i didn't like that either.. So now I have the paper cubes from ms and I love it since the rest of my storage are the jetmax cubes & drawers.. I have the ikea Alex and I so wish it would fit paper I think you could get away with just lining the paper up on the shelf & maybe make some dividers to go inbetween to organize and if you don't have enough paper to fill the shelf then just use book ends or something to hold the paper up right! Other then that and the copper hopper storage i don't know what else there could be..maybe something like a large envelope type holder but big enough for paper? Or a fabric cube with paper stored up right.. Or maybe one of the paper cubes like I mentioned but turned side ways for vertical storage I don't know the dimensions of your unit but I believe the 4 slot paper cube is around 14x14 maybe it could fit.. If so that would be nice |

Whoever solves that mystery will be a billionaire, LOL.
I started with the black wheeled hanging file CH but outgrew it. Then when I had a huge scrap space with 4 large tables I purchased the CH vertical with a coupon of course, AND put them on the back of one of my table and LOVED it. the old ones will lay down to fit the Expedit.
Now I have a small area and 3 Expedits of course there are many cubed storage cubes out there. But for me I am considering storing vertically without the CH's vertical container. Since I had 12 on my table I am calculating I may need 2-4 of the cubical's to hold them.
I can see using a bookend on an open shelf if it is deep enough but the bookend would have to be heavy and tall to accommodate the amount of paper you have and so it won't flop over if the bookend is short. If you have a lot of paper maybe multiply bookends would work.

I use an old Priority Mail box too! I guess you could cover it in paper or decoupage it to make it look pretty? Unfortunately I have not come across a better system.

I use the m's cubes with the divider shelves vertical. I'm one who loves shuffling through my upright papers too and the cubes are perfect for me. |

well, if you want it out then my system won't work. I use craft keepers in a large plastic bin under my desk. (storage is a premium here!) Then I have some sorted by theme in accordian files and the files are in a scrap tote. |

It doesn't have to be heavy if you have one that's shaped like an upside down T. One of the foot part goes under your books. As for the flop-over issue - a large (in size, not thickness) hardcover book would work well. Like a large children's book. Or a square of thin plywood/balsa wood, which they sell at Michael's. |

I use the plastic crates from Walmart. I have enough paper in each that the paper stays upright but still I can flip through to find what I need.

I use the Cropper Hopper storage, so I'm not a help there.
What if you covered the boxes in pretty paper or wallpaper? That way you have the functionality and it's pretty. |

I have mine set in trays that are full then I put them vertical on shelves that are bending and my final way for the rest is priority boxes. I have to much darn paper. It is ridiculous. I think I just covered every way of storing paper. lol.

I use metal mesh boxes from the office section at target. Hanging file folders. There are full of Comstock on my regular cheap white target shelves. Patterned paper is sorted by color, theme, or designer in plastic bags in pretty baskets. Easy to look through.
