I have a huge stash of these and I'm sick of looking at them. I'm trying to come up with a few ideas where I can use up some of these. I am ready to just throw them out or give them away. Besides, I need the divided compartments for my new obsession Wood Veneers. ARGHHH!!! |

You can use them at the center of a flower, corners of pictures frames, or any other way you use your brads.

I have a ton of them as well, and I do plan to use them. The most frequent way I use them is on the top of tags. Also, in my stash are some decorative shaped eyelets (hearts, diamonds, even boats). I plan to just use them a small decorative bits the same as I would use a brad. I also plan to use them to run ribbon or twine through.

You could also use them on decorative edges/with border punches. For example, if you have the threading water punch you could put them where each hole is. |

I remember a page that used a rather plain paper, and then just tons of eyelets all over it (somewhat random) as a background. Or at least I think I remember it. But it might be cute.
You could use the holes to string ribbon, or twine in patterns, too...OOOOHHH and hang banners from the twine!!!

I just used 1 (out of 9 bazillion) on a PL insert the other day.
I am really trying to use my stash for my PL album, so I will make an effort to use more eyelets. |

I do, I use mine similar to how I would brads. I often use them on "track" pages (my boy runs) as they mimic his spikes. You could use them on a hockey page, or football or anything else like that

Love this idea! Will have to try it soon.
I've also drawn a large circle on a layout in pencil and then put eyelets around the circle. Then I erase the pencil line. This method uses up tons of eyelets!

I just used quite a few with a Christmas lo. You can view it in my gallery. It is the one with paper scraps as the first picture. |

If you like clusters on your lo you can place them there too. I have done this a few times. |

I use them to reinforce mini albums before putting rings through. I also use them when I want to tie twine bows, either on the end of the page or on an embellishment so the twine won't tear the paper |

About the only time I use eyelets anymore is when I'm making a tag and add one to the hole up top. |

Still use mine all the time on tags, mini's, banners, cards...... Might use a row along one corner or when I use ribbon.
I really don't go by the "out of style" thing. If I like it, I use it. I have a lot of stuff and I often forget what I have so when I come across it I use it. |

If you punch a hole in it, it needs an eyelet around it.

That is the easy part If you arn't using them it won't hurt to mix them up. Dump them in a cute jar, if you want one it is there and how hard is it really to 'find' a couple of red or blue ones if you find a use.
Bonus!! You have a cute jar of color to look at and you will 'see' them and MAYBE remember to use them |

Well if you decide to use the eyelets, be careful...the metal is not acid free and could ruin your scrapbooks. It can void the warranty of your CM albums.
The above message was brought to you from my scrapbooking time machine...I visited 2002 to retrieve it for you. ROFL!
Seriously, I have a box of eyelets that has been kicking around forever...they'll probably get tossed at some point. The best recent suggestion I've seen was reinforcing the corners of banners. Though of course, as someone already said, they may come back in style...I've started seeing bottlecaps mentioned again and I remember them being hot back in the day.

Ising said it well. My Su rep used one to reinforce the paper when she used ribbon but I would think anytime you put twine through it would prevent it from ripping.
Could you just throw them in a container all together - and not sort by color and style? Then you would have your container and your eyelets?

The only time I have gotten out my vast eyelet collection in the past 6 years, is to fix a broken lanyard when ds's friend was visiting. He was amazed that I had tools to do something like that |

Just throw them out or give them away! If you don't love them or use them, clear out room for your lovely veneers! I never liked or used eyelets, so I can be ruthless about them like that

Instead of throwing them out, and you definitely don't want them anymore, you can always donate them to a school along with the tools that set them since you won't need them anymore. Schools appreciate any kind of craft donation right now with all the budget cuts. |

I think there was another thread about this recently and I made the same lame response on that thread that I'm about to make here ... LOL
There is an amazing scrapper out there in blog world who uses eyelets a ton. Her work is just stunning and beautiful. I wish I could remember her name or had her link ... but everytime I describe her, someone else seems to be able to come up with her link, so maybe it'll happen again.
She is a very "modern" style scrapper, using so many of the most current trends, but she happens to also use eyelets. I remember a couple pages in particular, where she would thread ribbon through them to make it look like it was laced up ... sort of an old-fashioned corset look.
Does that ring any bells for anyone? Anyway, hers are the only pages I've seen lately that used eyelets in a modern way, if that makes sense.

First of all, the AMAZING artist that I couldn't remember. (Maybe I'll actually bookmark her this time so I don't forget again! LOL!)

I apparently have a "thing" for eyelets ... yet I haven't put one on a layout for a while! Might have to get to that this weekend!

I still use eyelets...and they still sell them in stores. I like to fold over a piece of 2 sided patterned paper, and secure it with an eyelet. I also use them on tags, and on flowers. |

I still use them...I love to run bakers twine through them on a journaling card (I set one eyelet in each corner so I can run the twine though so the twine forms a border all the way around the journaling card). I like the idea of putting them altogether in a jar...a colorful & pretty reminder that you have them...and maybe having them stored differently will make a difference... and that can't take up too much space & you will still have them along with your storage space for your wood veneers...
Besides, what a pain it would be if you want/need to use some & you had to go buy some because you got rid of them... I say keep them! (I REALLY like that jar idea!) |
I LOVE to talk about scrapbooking!!

I am trying to use mine up on layouts, but I have to remind myself to use them. But if you don't like the look of them you never will so gift them to someone. If however it is storage which is the problem, do as someone else suggested and bung them in one big jar, you might find this more inspirational
