‎40 YEARS FOR MURDER AND 7 YEARS FOR UNLAWFUL WEAPONS CHARGE. She serves a minimum of 34 years before even being eligible for parole. We're relieved!!

Backstory: Our nephew was murdered by his wife. They were in the process of beginning a divorce.

The family finally has some "closure" (I don't like that word) and peace.

Ya know, that just doesn't seem long enough for murder to me.

She'll be in prison for a good long time, though.

I hope for peace for your family.

I'm so sorry you had to endure this but at least you had a satisfying result (if you can call it satisfying). May his memory be a blessing to you, always.

OK. Newbie. This is how it works. If your post consists of 80% sanity, 10% stupidity and 10% all kinds of crazy, we immediately focus on the 20% b/c it discredits the 80%.

I'm so sorry for your tragic loss. Thankfully justice was served, although that won't bring back your nephew nor lessen your pain/loss.

I'm glad to hear that it will be many years before she is eligible for parole. How old is she?

Thank you for the update. I am glad she is finally being punished for her crime. If I remember correctly it took awhile to get to this and she was out of jail.....

raysgirl: Thanks. Thinking of you too--email me whenever you want/need.

Amanda: She's 48 and she does have M.S. and other medical issues, so I'd think she'd pass away before her sentence is up! (not that I wish that on anyone, but I'm at peace knowing she can't hurt anyone else!)

batya: Thank you! Little signs of him everywhere right now------ there's a new spray bottle for Lysol cleaner (where you don't have to tip the bottle to get to the bottom of it) and our nephew came up with that idea many years ago--and now it's on the market! Just makes us think of him (not that he got to do the patent on it tho!).

Thanks, Free~bird!

gritzi: Thank you. You're right and we're reminded of our loss daily, but his 3 kids are doing okay and even they are relieved that their mom is serving her time now for taking him away.

eebud: That's a good question. I hope it'll be at LEAST 20 years until the thought of parole is a possibility, because I doubt she'll last that long. She certainly won't get off for any good behavior. She already thinkgs she's entitled to so much!

Kelly: Yup, she was out on bail, in her home--the home she killed him in--for 2.5 years! That time doesn't go towards her sentence, which was another relief to the family!

Jody: Thank you!!

Made 5000, now what?

What good news for your family. I know there's nothing that can change the horrific events your family has endured but it's good to know that justice has prevailed. May this sentence bring an opportunity for peace and healing for you and your loved ones. ((hugs))

A big thank you to: naby64, modie-may, Pattywak, cropduster, NanaKate, and DonnainGA.

Nightowl: Thank you. The only experience I have with M.S. is with DH's elderly aunt, who had it for many, many years and she passed away (at age 88) last year. She took care of herself and fought it every step of the way and had such a healthy perspective on life. This *person* (the murderer) never took care of herself, abused her meds + anything she could get her hands on (alcohol, drugs, etc.......), so her body is definitely reacting to all of that abuse. I doubt she'll live too long. I just wish she'd stay in jail for the rest of her life. Anything less than that isn't long enough!

It's all just nonsense anyway!

Hey BB, I can't tell you how glad I am to hear the length of that sentence! I know forever would not be long enough, but considering they let her out on bail for the last couple of years, combined with her MS, I was afraid they would go easy on her.

I'm also glad it's finally over so your family can take a breath and let some peace into your lives. I know you'll always miss your nephew but I'm sure it feels better knowing he can rest in peace too. May his memory be a blessing. {{{HUGS}}}

Wow -- I remember your posts about the trial and how upsetting her lies were. I didn't realize she was actually found guilty. I hope the long sentence can give you a little less worry and some peace in your life.

I am glad she is behind bars. While nothing can bring your nephew back, at least the sting of injustice had she gotten a shorter sentence (or found not guilty) has been decreased.

Oh, thank goodness! I've followed your posts and am so happy to read this. You must feel such a sense of relief. I'm so sorry about your nephew. I too lost a nephew unexpectantly at a young age (20) and I know how heart breaking it is. I hope you can get some deserved rest now.

I'm so glad that it's over and you got the results you wanted to see happen. Although nothing can bring back your nephew, she is being held accountable for his death and I hope that will help all of you heal.

Thanks: freecharlie, jenjie, california girl & Nicole in TX! It's amazing--Facebook is full of happy, memorable pics of him with all of us right now, so I think that the entire family (and friends!) feels like a huge weight has been lifted. We could finally forget about his "wife" and just move on, to have happy memories of him and to grieve in a healthy manner.

Thank you, Peas. I posted here over 2 years ago when it first happened, and so many people have been a real support to me.

I remember you posting about your dear nephew. I'm so sorry that happened.

I am glad that she will be getting a lot of years behind bars, but really she didn't get enough. When you take a life, I don't think you (a criminal) should be able to live or breathe after taking somebody's right to live. They get to see their family but a victim's family can't see the victim. Sad.

Don't worry about the people in your past; there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Facebook is like jail. You sit around all day wasting time, writing on walls and if your not careful you'll get poked.

I hope that you can all start to properly grieve and heal now, as this was really awful for your family to go through. Justice was done!

It's not the passage of time that heals. It's what you do with that time.
