Saw this on the local news tonight and it blew me away!
When I was 14 I had a pair of stilts. It took me months to master them enough to be able walk the Fall Festival parade route in our small town with my Dad. I can't even imagine trying some of these moves.
With alot of the line work they do if one fell they'd all go down.

Way to go!

very unique and a great idea, but their kicks were very sloppy. I loved watching it, but I bet the judges ripped it apart. Bad technique cannot be overcome by good ideas.

Good grief - sloppy kicks? Just enjoy it. We also don't know for sure that there *were* judges there. I could have been a half time show or something.

Wow!! I was on drill team and I couldn't imagine doing kicks and staying balanced on stilts. I am sure it took lots of practice to perform that routine. I noticed the sloppy routine but I think it was only that way because they were trying to maintain balance on the stilts. I don't think this was a competition routine. Looks like it was performed during a basketball game or pep rally. I am sure if they were to perform this routine for a competition they would not be sloppy.

Maybe one of those girls can go ahead and slip you her stilts - let's see your kicks, Esister!

Awesome! I almost jumped up to applaud them. Forgot where I was for a second.

Reading when I should be cleaning!

That was fun! I didn't finish the whole thing, but I did click to see some of the other videos. Looks like the girls HAVE been judged in the past.

Here is the 2012-2013 Bountiful High School Drill Team Dance Routine! The team is under the direction of Jan Whitaker and is now the 5 time Utah 4A State champion!

Well, I don't know if this particular routine was being judged, but according to the person who posted the video, they are 5 time 4A State Champions. So, apparently, they also have some good technique.

I thought it was really innovative and cool.

That was awesome!! I'm also very impressed they were able to "get back up". Haha, I was kind of awesome at stilts when I was kid. My parents wouldn't buy them for me (too "dangerous" ), so I made my own in our garage. But I don't think I could ever get back up again after going flat down on the ground. No way. Haha! Awesome!

Amazing! I also clicked on some others and loved the one where they are en pointe during the routine.

Pretty entertaining, and wow, on stilts. That must have taken a lot of practice to master!

The woman who coached me on drill team, used to coach bountiful. They were 10 time state champs when she coached there. The team she coaches now (my high school) has taken state every time she's coached. She's known for fun ideas like this, but she would freak about the sloppy kicks.

We did unicycles when I was on the team. I think bountiful still does them too.

That is my daughters high school and 2 of the girls were in my young women group at church.

They just were in Orlando at Nationals and took 1st in everything. So they definitely have technique!

As fun as that was to watch, they are 10x better off the stilts. What a talented bunch of ladies!

Drill teams are HUGE in Utah and they do quite well at national competitions. As others have said in this thread Bountiful High School knows what they are doing.
