I know! But my first thought was that she's in a custody battle for her first child, making false accusations about her ex, and involved with someone with anger issues. And bringing another child into all of that.

A new baby is always wonderful news and I wish her the best, and I hope that this baby doesn't have to be in the middle of a mess like the first one.

Well, her nickname is Halle Scary.

She's gorgeous but her man radar is faulty.

I have read that she's used donor eggs, but I don't think she's ever come out and said it so maybe not.

I heard a fertility specialist on TV or radio who said any celebrity who announces they are pregnant and are over 45 have not accomplished that "naturally" and there was some sort of assist.

Sure, it happens, but it is SO rare.
Kelly Preston---that was the story they were talking about.

It's super private so unless they want to be on the cover of People about it, they say nothing. The guy was adamant--it does NOT happen. Just doesn't.

I've heard a lot of fertility specialists talk about celebrities and they pretty much all say that not only did women of a certain age almost certainly use donor eggs, but that it gives the general public a false impression of how long a typical woman can be fertile. BUT, pretty much anyone with a uterus can carry a baby, so usually the donor egg recipient cutoff is 50 or 55.

Well, unless celebrities reproduce differently from the rest of us, it DOES happen. I personally know 3 women of my generation who have had babies after 45 with no assistance. In addition to that, my mom and the mother of one of my friends had "oops" babies after 45. I can assure you that no fertility drugs or treatments were involved. If I know of this many, there are more. And if it happens to "regular" women, it can happen to celebrities, too. I thought it was interesting that the article said that Halle Berry's pregnancy occurred naturally - that's not something I would think you'd throw into your press release. But however it happened, I hope she has a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

I've read/heard that until you have gone without your period for one year, you should consider yourself able to get pregnant. I think I first heard that on Oprah? A woman in her 50's was talking about her surprise pregnancy. I don't know why it would be so impossible to get pregnant in your own. Yes, there is a higher likelihood of problems but it is possible to have a healthy baby. My stepmom's mother was 45 when she had her youngest child. And that was 50 years ago.

That sums up my feelings about it.

I went to a new doctor with my son and was telling him that I was an older mom. (I was almost 38 when I had him.) He looked at me & said, "No you're not. 38 is no big deal. I had a patient a couple of weeks ago that was 57 when she accidentally got pregnant, so she was 65, & had an eight year old!" Needless to say, my jaw dropped to the floor!

Congrats to Halle & her boyfriend!

46 and diabetic? That's high risk for sure. I also suspect that this did not happen naturally, for the simple fact that it was in the statement. It seems odd to toss that in. She probably used frozen eggs or something.

Either way, I hope everything turns out okay and that this child has a better parenting experience than her first child.

We have a 52 year old mother of a 6 year old in our school. They were done - older kids were off to college and surprise, surprise! It happens.

I wouldn't want to have a baby at the same age I could be a grandmother, no thanks.

Talk about being genetically gifted - this will be the most gorgeous damn baby on the planet. But yes,

She's gorgeous but her man radar is faulty.

She was surprised to find out she was preg. Not planned. Total surprise

I didn't mean to say it wasn't possible for a woman of that age to get pregnant without intervention. What I meant to say was that I had read of infertility specialists talking about Halle Berry specifically as having probably used an egg donor.

I've also known people 45 and up who conceived without intervention.
