I've been thinking the same thing! Especially since the kit I get has been including those big, bold chevrons lately. I find them so hard to work with - very distracting, I think.

Have you tried toning them down with paint, gesso, or even vellum? Often when I have really bold patterns, I just use them as borders.

I actually love Chevrons, but they are getting a little old since EVERYONE is doing them over and over and over. It's like it's an easy pattern to do and probably doesn't take a lot of time, so it's a go-to pattern.

I still like them. To me chevrons are a staple like stripes and polka dots.

Yeah, I'm finding them a bit boring - not hating, but not excited about the pattern. It's like EVERYONE does it, and it's now being done to death.

Can you even find a collection without a chevron pattern in it anymore?

I still am ok with woodgrain, but it is beginning to feel a bit the same way - overdone.

To me it's a basic pattern now. And I don't care for polka dots and stripes so much, so I love that there are a ton of chevrons available. I'll never tire of chevrons or wood grain patterns.

I have to agree with the sentiment that it's just everywhere and overused!

Oh that's funny. I was surprised last weekend to realize I hadn't used many of my chevron papers yet even though I love them. I better get busy with those.

I'm not sick of it but I'm SUPER particular about the chevron patterns I like. Mostly I like the ones that are tone-on-tone in neutral colors.

Given our son is my primary scrap subject, I've used/created chevrons before they were on trend. I like the different types, sizes, & colors of chevrons currently available & am stocking up before they're cast aside for another trend (hoping not a random inanimate object!)

I like them. But they can be over-powering, just like some of the flower embellishing. My opinion.

I love the chevrons but I am not a fan of the hexagons and octagons.

I love chunky chevrons, polka dots and stripes. That is how I am decorating DD;s bedroom right now.

I don't think they will go away in a long time. The fashion shows for fall 2014 are still showing some chevrons.

I don't mind. I still love them!

Many of the newer "chevron" designs are just basically zig zag designs. I don't mind the actual chevron, based on the dictionary definition, like the pattern used for indicating a rank of service, but depending on how it's used, it can be distracting IMO.

Actual chevrons, just the "V" shape, are useful for more masculine pages, but I think they have gotten overused, like so many trends. And the current zig zag patterns even more so.

Zig zag designs are old as dirt, although they haven't been commonly used in scrapbooking since people rejected the common use of decorative scissors. One of the first decorative scissors patterns was zig zag.

I guess calling zig zag designs "chevrons" makes them more trendy? or maybe I have it wrong, and no one is really calling zig zag designs "chevrons" after all?

Anyway, I don't mind chevrons if they are done right, but I really don't care for the zig zag papers that I saw at the Summer CHA release. Especially the big, thick, bold zig zags in bright colors. They are too distracting for me.

I, too, see a difference between the term "chevron" and "zigzag".

LOL! i like them but I seem to cut it wrong and then I am left with something that doesn't look like a chevron anymore.

I don't care for the anchors... what do I do with those?

I don't like them - chevrons, zigzags, whatever - they are too busy & distract me from the photos. Give me florals or damask any day...

'Cause, y'know, florals are never busy or distracting...

I like chevrons still and wood grain also

With a family of loggers wood grain works for me.

If I am using a chevron as a mat I like the look better than a stripe. You see all the colors of the stripe on two edges and only one color on the other edges, depending on the width of the stripes. This has always bugged me.

I still like them. I liked the look when it came out I just never used it until recently. I am not a fan of the really big bright ones though they can over power your layout but then again I use more neutrals than brights most of the time. I do wish some of the popular colors would go away though - I am really tired of a certain shade of teal and peach but I know they are really popular I am just so tired of them - they have been around since before the chevron phase and it is time for them to go or at least change up the shades a bit.

That said I have finally seen some layouts with feathers that I actually like - you don't see the whole feather just a bit of it and very bright and they just add a nice texture but I doubt I will use them since I don't scrap those colors but I do like the look - didn't like it when it was just a feather for the sake of a feather though.

I still like chevrons, it would just be nice if every single line and kit didn't use them as filler every single month. For the last 4+ months I've gotten several chevron items in each and every kit I've gotten, which means at this point I have more than I'll ever care to use. Lets mix it up a little bit people.

When I was young, they were 'zig-zags'. When did they get upgraded to 'chevron'??

I like them. I consider them to be a basic like a stripe or dot or plaid. I don't mind bold colors in any print so having it in a chevron or zig zag is no biggie to me.
