I have been a 12 x12 scrapbooker for about 7 years, but find it so hard to keep up with all those pictures. I would like to start PL, has anyone jumped in mid-year? Would you just start with a mini at this point, or wait until January? Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't actually do project life but I think the great thing about it is that you can make it anything you want it to be. Everyone does it differently (weekly, monthly, etc). I am sure someone with more experience with pl will chime in to help!

sure... start jul. 1 - fill in what you can and go from there... or, start aug. 1 - whatever works for you...
or go back through and make a 2-page monthly spread for jan. - jun. or... whatever works for you...
hope that helps!

i started a mini album in march and since it wasn't the beginning of the year, i titled it "the year i turned ??". after a few months, i decided that i wanted to do PL (the kraft kit got me!) so that i could keep everything in my 12x12 albums and so just moved everything over. i do PL monthly to keep track, summarize, and have a place to put little mementos right along with my 12x12 layouts.
if you feel like it would be awkward to just begin, you could make a 12x12 that explains how/why you fell in love with PL. it's a scrap worthy event so include it!
jump in and have fun!

Totally jump in mid year. My 1 year PL anniversary will be on August 15th. We made a major decision last August and I decided that was as good as time as any to start doing PL. There is absolutely no wrong time to start PL because you are recording memories!

I just started PL and my years are going to run July 1-June 30. I've tried for several years to start on Jan 1 and I never could because I'd never get supplies ordered due to the crazyness of the holidays and things, so I decided this would work better for me. I'm not going to label by Week 1, Week 2 and so on, I'm just going to use dates-July 1-7 etc.. I think this will work great for me, and really, it's my album, can't I do as I please?

You can start whenever you want! I started my PL album on Aug. 17th last year. That was the day I became an empty nester. Since it was the start of a new chapter in my life it seemed like a good time to start a new project.
|Posted: 8/1/2013 10:53:27 AM|After 6 months of debating on doing PL or not, I bought my PL stuff yesterday & I am planning to start TODAY - Aug. 1st. Jump right in with me! I am kind of excited, because it's something new to me & seems like it would be a great fit for my scrapbook style.

why does it have to be a chronological thing? you can start whenever and wherever....i guess. whatever inspires you. i don't do PL, but i do use divided page protectors and journaling cards when i want to include more photos to my traditional LOs and it becomes a 2 or 3 page LO.

Jump in! I quit doing week one week two etc and just do what I can when I can. I keep it chronological but some weeks are four pages, some are one, some are two, some weeks go together etc etc. You get the point. PL is all about YOU documenting the way YOU are comfortable/happy with and getting YOUR memories down in YOUR style. There are no rules so jump in and come swim with us!

Totally get started! I started at the beginning of April last year, 2012. I did two 12 by 12 pocket page protectors for each week (like the traditional PL) and then I went back and did two 12 by 12 pocket page protectors for each month that I missed (Jan, Feb, and Mar) so that I at least had that time represented in the album. That allowed me to at least feel like I had a complete year in the album even though the beginning months were formatted a little different than the later months. Hope that helps!

I started the begining of Sept. since that is when school starts. Works great. I did take a break for the summer and will put those pics in a mini album PL style (my yearly album got just too full!).
Go for it!

Not sure what you mean by PL. Are you just using the products, doing Project 365/52, or some other kid of chrono documentation? If your issue is scrapping photos why not just use the products for simplifying the documentation of the kind of photos that you already take? There is no rule that says you have to use it for "everyday" photos. You can start using the products at any time and in any way that works for you!
|Posted: 8/1/2013 1:25:44 PM|The beauty of PL is that it is SO flexible....you can start whenever you want! Honestly, I would recommend sooner rather than later. I have found that my album captures so many details that I would have forgotten and it is a much better representation of our "real" life. I have done PL since May 2009....and I regret not starting sooner.
|Posted: 8/1/2013 1:33:45 PM|I just started PL about a month ago, but I don't do it the week by week way. I use all the different page protector versions in whatever way suits the theme. For example, I have a divider for my family in Texas, and another divider for family in CA. I have one for each grandchild, and some dividers for holidays. (Hope that makes sense). I also can add 8.5x11 pages, and 12x2 pages intermixed with the PL pages. So, basically it is a whatever/however I want to scrap depending on the photos. What I really love about the PL system is being able to slip photos in all the configurations for later "scrapping" i.e. decorating. That way they are still in a "home" until I am ready to do something with them. I LOVE the PL sleeves.

Like GoBucs!, I started my first PL-style album in August two years ago, when I turned 50 AND became an empty nester! I used the SNAP albums for that first year (August to July), then used another SNAP album for the rest of that year. I did that year and a half monthly, not weekly. Then this year I started "real" PL on January 1st, doing it weekly. I just love this style of documenting! Like the others said...Jump right in!!

I started a PL style album two months ago and I'm doing it without a timeline - doing it by events... You could always start that way and finish the year by doing it without a strict timeline, mix in a few 12x12s, and use the five months as a sort of transition...

I started PL in March and only went back to do a spread for February because I wanted to document a weekend trip I went on. Doesn't bother me that I skipped January. At least your life is getting documented! I wouldn't stress.
