I've never had a cat in my adult life. I had a cat growing up, but that was it. So... at 44 years old, I took the plunge last night amidst begging eyes from my 8-year ds at Pet Smart on our way home from a hockey tournament.
What was I thinking?!?!

But you know that feeling that just comes over you and you just KNOW it's the right decision... well, one look at this little guy and I knew! So I called my husband and had to do a little begging myself, but we are all so excited!

Introducing Remington (Remy for short)!!
We are in love!
He's a 10-week old rescue and as sweet and playful as can be.

And of course, our golden doodle, Murphy, is killing me with the pathetic looks he's been giving me all day!!!

Oh my goodness he is adorable. Just begging to be cuddled and loved.

Enjoy your kitten adventures!

Forgot to add my friend's golden doodle was initially jealous of her kitten, but now they are best friends and the kitten sleeps on top of her.

So jealous! Our kitty is a ONE kitty household kitty - very territorial.

Of course, my husband prefers a one kitty household as well, but only because we once had two kitties that never did more than ignore/tolerate each other's presence, grudgingly.

Congratulations on your beautiful new rescue kitty! Your handsome dog will no doubt love him too. I think your kitty looks a lot like a Norwegian Forest Cat.

Thanks everyone!
Yes, we think Remy is very handsome!!
Apparently several families had been in and out all day... 2 families had come back 2x!
I can't believe that no one had adopted him, which is just more confirmation that Remy was meant to be ours.

Murphy is so spoiled... he's 2.5 and has been our baby for so long, I'm sure he is going to have a little trouble adjusting, but hopefully within a few days they will be best buds. Remy shows a little fear of him when Murphy comes running... but considering Remy is about 2 lb and Murphy is almost 90 lb, I can understand!

I'm one happy momma tonight with our new fur baby!

Thanks for letting me share!

That is a very beautiful kitty. The ears and the dark rim on his eyes make him look so interesting. And I love his name too.

I am willing to bet that your dog learns to accept and even adore the kitty eventually.

I have the street stray kitty that I've been trying to turn into a house kitty on my lap right now and my dog realized he had better go along with this or he was going to be chastised for chasing the kitty. He sat and gave me looks as the cat settled down on my lap purring. He eventually climbed up higher on my lap than the cat was and they are both asleep now and actually touching backs with each other. It can happen!

Congratulations on your new family member.

Awwwwww - Remington is adorable! And Murphy is, too. I love golden doodles. I never owned a cat until my dad died and I took his in. I didn't understand them at all but have come to truly appreciate their unique personalities. And our dog and my dad's cat have been best friends since day one. Thanks for sharing the sweet photos.
