We're getting ready to do month #5 of this puppy! And...Both April & I are hoping for lots of swappers--old & new.

First step is to read the May Swap Blog.

As usual, it has some curve balls, but it's still continuing to keep lots of things the same. But read it before you decide to request inclusion as a swapper. And it's fine to ask any questions about it on this thread--old & new swappers alike. OK?

This month's curves/twists are still meant to stretch us all, but we've decided to make the 'stamped images' kit requirement a bit more flexible.

For those who are new to this Swap? Check out the April KIAE to get a feel for it.

And--as always--I will answer questions you may have about this swap 'long as you post them here.

Let the May Madness begin!

Update: Although your hosts have included the requirement to post to the swap thread on a regular basis--once a week & more than 'JCI', we still have too many swappers who are not doing that. So... From now on we are making weekly contact part of a true 'requirement'. Those who fail to post something concerning the month's swap each week will risk being 'found wanting' for the next swap. April & I do not want to see that happen. We value everyone who has joined our monthly S/C. Nuff said.

Here's the list of who* sends to who for May!:
April > Neysa
Neysa > LeighAnn
LeighAnn > Marilyn
Marilyn > Susan
Susan > Daniel
Daniel > Cindi
Cindi > Michele
Michele > Sarah
Sarah > April

Please contact your Send-to (PM/email) if you need an address.
Please post that you have seen the match-ups.

Envelopes MUST be in the mail on/or before May 5th (Cinquo D'Mayo, Ole)

*Who = Who:
April = CarribeanGirl
Neysa = Neyw
LeighAnn = Lovepug2
Marilyn = Sophikins
Susan = Snickerdoodleart
Daniel = Looser
Cindi = Iring
Michele = MicheleD.
Sarah = Craft Nerd

LOL, Cindi! Get your April finished & start your May envelopes.

I'm finding some wonderful papers & cs in my 'found' stuff. Neat thing about doing 'paper only'? You can send a lot in the envelope for minimum postage!

I'm begining to 'audition' my stamps for this month's kit...

Would a paper doily be allowed in the kit?

Sign me up for May.

The way I read it, you can use any pp or card stock, but there is no restriction on what you do with it- like emboss, die cut, punch etc.

Long as the commercial doilies are paper (including paper-backed foil ones), I see no problem.

The kit requirement is 'paper only', but that does NOT mean you can only include PP or CS. You can include diecuts, folder-embossed, punchouts, etc.

When it comes to the zentangle requirement? If you want to make & send some to your swapmate that's fine. Just make 2 of the same ZTs--keep one & send one. BUT... All swappers must do their own ZT on a project.

Same for twinchies. If you want to send your swapmate some pre-cut twinchie bases? Cool. But they still have to do something on that base to meet the requirement.

Welcome aboard, Susan.

I have a feeling May's KIAE may be a smaller group--hope not, but 'sok. We'll still have a good time.

Apart from the zt & twinchie requirements, I'm thinking those who join for May are going to have lots of fun packing their kits. Once you start looking for 'paper', it's amazing how much you can find. AND... the pieces of paper don't have to be large. Good chance to use up some of our scraps--long as they're large enough to divide in two so we can do the keep & send.

Glad you're joining us this month, Michele.

'Sok, Heidi. You know you're more than welcome. Some months are tougher than others when it comes to commitable time. Truth is that even those who host monthly swaps have their down ones. That's why it's nice to have 'back-ups' who are willing to pitch hit occasionally.

I'm making progress at selecting stuff for my envelopes. But I'm finding that I'm thinking about the project curve balls a bit more than I usually do when choosing stamps & other materials. So far it's been a fun process & has me thinking in different ways.

My bad, 'Sophi'! Don't know how I didn't acknowledge you as a joiner (possible senior moment ) Welcome aboard, pal! And Yes you can go crazy with punches, dies & embossing folders. You can even include stickers & rub-ons as long as they're paper & you have duplicates.

So... The count (so far) is 5. It'll be 6 when Cindi does her 2nd April piece. 7 when Pug does her 2 shares. Heidi is a 'maybe' (hoping she decides to join us)

As my partner says, we are not about 'size'; we're about the fun!

I got my second April project posted tonight, so I can sign up for May.

I'll admit I was a little hesitant because I've never done a zentangle. But I figured I should challenge myself and give it a try.

No prob, Neysa. You're signed up.

Same for Pug. Despite the gremlins not showing her piece on the swap blog, it's in her gallery & she's done the required.

Neysa. Twinchies are fun. I know you'll enjoy playing with these mini masterpieces.

WTG, partner on the ZTs--you did 2 patterns & in a T-storm, to boot!

Here's two ZTs I sent to April. These are just linework & meant to illustrate that doing the same pattern 'doodle' curved & straight change its 'look'.

Did an update in the OP & want y'all to read it. (please)

April & I held a 'bored' meeting today. We reviewed the last several months of this continuing swap/challenge. By-in-large we are truly happy with how everyone has done with what is a very different form of swapping. But... We remain concerned that we have just 'hit or miss' with our desire to have KIAE be more than just swapping 'stuff'.

Each month's challenge is designed--Yes! Designed, I say (channeling Foghorn Leghorn ) to get us to do more than make good stuff.

Your hosts are greedy! We want to know how you are tackling reqirements & what's working & what's not. We want to hear how much you love my challenges & fear April's

So! What does 'once-a-week' mean? Good question!

From now until the end of May, a week will be Sun-Sat. This month's dates will be: 4/27>5/3; 5/4>5/10; 5/11>5/17; 5/18>5/24; 5/25>5/31.

Let me start by saying that we truly appreciate hearing from those of you who are 'sitting out' this month's swap. It means a lot to us that you care enough to post. We'll miss each of you this month & hope you join in soon.

As April says, we'll be closing sign-ups sometime today (probably mid afternoon) so April & I can figure out the swap roster.

At this point, the following are confirmed for this month's swap/challenge:
Daniel
April
Susan
Marilyn
Sarah
Neysa
Michele
Cindi
LeighAnn.

Did I miss anyone? That's nine of us & not a bad turnout as we start the 5th round of this puppy.

My envelopes are pretty near loaded, but there's still room for a bit more. Might add another couple of stamped images & interesting (paper) junque.

Daniel,
It would be helpful if you matched up the PeaNames with the real names. I tend to know people by the their PeaNames, and I am not sure who everyone is with the real names.

I've already got Sarah's address and I just sent mine to Cindi so we are ready to get started! I started to put together my kits. A couple weeks ago I was sorting through some underutilized supplies and came across tons of pre made die cuts where I had multiples of each. So I set some aside for a future KIAE, and don't you know it, Daniel read my mind by making this a paper-only swap!! Thanks!

LOL on the 'mind-reading', Michele. I started reading minds @ 14 when I worked in an ice cream store & customers couldn't figure out which flavors they wanted. I sold lots of tutti-fruiti!

WTG, Neysa! We'd love to see the tangles you & DD are doing. I'm still working on a piece & not pushing it.

Yay, Pug! I'm pretty close to being finished with my kits, too. Just found 2 more stamps that begged me to add them, too. Both are 'perfect' for this month. You'll like them, Cindi.

Snickerdoodle hasn't read my PM yet, but 'sok. Sounds like most of us have our ducks-in-a-row for mailing our envelopes. Terrific.

BTW? It's perfectly fine to chat with your send-to (PM/email) about what they might like in a kit. Also great to check out your send-tos gallery. As we keep saying (& y'all are probably tired of it. ), this swap is more than just filling an envelope & making a couple of projects. April & I are happy that so many are getting the spirit of this continuing swap/challenge. In fact... We may just start a thread to solicit your input for future KIAE's. Even great hosts welcome feedback--like Jan & Heidi with the SND's.

This weekendI plan to clean up my work space enough to see the craft mat underneath, then get to work on the kits.

I love zentangles so I am really looking forward to getting back to doing them again. I have years' worth of emails with patterns to play with.

I got my kit all finished up and ready to go. I double checked the blog this morning and I had completely forgot about the zentangle . It's a good thing I hadn't mailed it yet! I did my first one today. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be to do. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it though. I was too afraid of almost finishing it and messing it up! I hate when that happens.

My kit is all sealed up and is resting in the mailbox tonight. I plan to work on my kept kit projects this weekend. May is going to be another busy month so I want to get some things done while I can.

Ironic, isn't it LeighAnn? Zentangle is new to me too so it stresses me out more than relaxes me, ha! I'm going to bring paper and a pen with me on a work trip next week and Zentangle in the evenings…. I bet the more we practice, the more relaxing it will turn out to be.

LeighAnn, you don't have to send your partner a zentangle. Although you can if you want to. You just have to make one to use on one of your projects

My kit was mailed yesterday to Sophikins.

I had fun putting a paper only kit together.
Last night I started planning on what I wanted to make with my kit. I'm having a craft night with some friends tonight and I'm gonna work on my kit projects tonight.

I'm curious to see how everyone used zentangles too!

Quick question, I know we had to keep our kit to paper only but are we allowed to use ribbon and/or embellishments from our stash on our completed projects?

I have put together the kit to send to Susan. It has been photographed and is in the stamped & addressed envelope. I will drop in in the mail next trip out of the house.

It is NSD and I am a scrapbooker even more than a stamper, so I may try to make projects I can use on my scrapbook page (Twinchies are perfect for SB pages) from my kept kit today.

Although I am a dedicated non-scrapper , I do enjoy seeing how others incorporate stamping & more (like twinchies & ZTs) in their pages. It's one of the many things I like about our KIAE projects--how each of us employing our materials & talents in making projects that amaze & inspire us all.

I'm working on a piece. It's coming along, but has room for lots more playing with. And...I have had decided that I am going to challenge myself... I'm going to do the required curveballs (twinchie & ZT) from both my kept & recieved kits using the 3 item rule. Then I will do the same with the kit I get from Sarah.

NOTE! This is not a new curve ball requirement for this month's swap/challenge! It's just a personal decision. But... Y'all can do likewise if you want to.

Daniel, that sounds like a cool challenge for yourself! I have no doubt that you'll have some interesting pieces!

I did a zentangled twinchie for my kit. Not quite sure how I'm gonna use it just yet.

April, WTG on 6 layouts! I really miss scrapping sometimes. I figure once my boys get a bit bigger I will get back into it. I take an embarrassing amount of pictures so it will be hard to not wanna scrap them all!
I don't think I realized how close you were to Memphis! We have family there, next time we are there for more that a day we should meet up! It's a shame eclectica and archivers closed.
