I went past our local fire house this morning. As I passed the parking lot I saw someone being patted down by a plain clothes cop. Their were about 5 police cars there. I came by again and they had 3 people looking quite pertubed and sitting on the ground with handcuffs. So I pulled into the parking lot and walked into the firehouse. I was watching as a cop was searching a car. And no it was not a fire company member.

Never a dull moment.

Why do you think it was a drug bust?

The way they were searching the car. Plus a friend who was a state trooper told me that is what they were doing.

I see this all the time. Rarely is it a drug bust, you got lucky. LOL

Do they search differently for weapons than they do drugs?
That must have been interesting to watch.

I must be jaded. That sounds to me like somebody got caught with possession. I think of a drug bust as breaking up something more organized, i.e. meth labs, border seizures, etc. Life in the big city, I guess

when my oldest daughter was a baby and I was pregnant with my son we lived in SE Portland and the house 2 way from us had some weird ass people living there and they were always having people coming and going for a few years. and a friend of mine came over one day to visit for the day and as she turned on to our street she was stopped by a police officer and asked where she was going. She told him she was coming to my house and he told her to park up the road on the other side of my house and to go inside and tell me to stay in the house away from the windows. nobody came to my house. she came in and was all freaked out. about five minutes later we heard a whole bunch of noise outside and it was the cops raiding that house. five minutes later all the people that were in the house was sitting on the front porch in handcuffs and the police (must have been 30 or 40 of them) were searching the house, garage and yard. the filled 2 pickup trucks full of guns and ammo. and who knows how much drugs were there. the sad thing about it was they had a young boy living there.

I have never seen a drug bust in a car before though...

I drive past a seedy motel on my way home from work. It is located at a fork in the road, and it is actually on the fork I don't drive, but I can see it well. One afternoon, I noticed that traffic was moving slowly, although it hadn't come to a complete stop.

As I got near the intersection, I saw 8 or 9 police cars with lights flashing, and some of the officers were in the middle of putting on vests and getting out shotguns!

I kept driving, obviously, but I saw it on the news later that they had busted a drug ring and some of the guys were holed up in the hotel. They were just getting ready to go in and get them when I drove by.

I had to turn around to take my DD to trumpet lessons as soon as I got home, but I made sure I took a different route LOL!

I was in the CVS parking lot a few weeks back looking through my coupons before going in. While I sat there 3 unmarked police vehicles and several police cars swarmed around my car and the one beside me. It was a drug bust. To say I was freaked out is an understatement!!! I couldn't get out of my car for like 25 minutes. Crazy!!!

You walked in to the firehouse just to watch what was going on in the parking lot?
Weird.

I look at the firehouse as the firefighters home.

I would never just wander in.
In fact when we visit the firehouse we knock on the door.

It is a volunteer fire company and my sons and I are members there. Thus our home away from home. We could not help see it. And after I left, my sons confirmed the bust.

When I was in college, Ecstasy was just becoming popular. There was a guy in my apartment complex that was the local "go to guy" for all kinds of goodies, including Ecstasy.

One afternoon we were all sitting around (most likely drinking ) and a boat load of men dressed in black uniforms with big guns came tiptoeing by our back sliding glass doors. Being the dummies that we were (again, see the drinking part) we all stood at the doors asking "hey what's going on??"

They finally sent one of the ninjas over to shush us and tell us to stay inside.

There was a whole lot of shouting and about 10 minutes later, the "candy man" came out of his apartment in handcuffs with one of the big gun carrying ninjas.

It was like watching a tv show.

This was not a big city, but it was a big college town so I suspect the ninjas worked their magic with some regularity.

Oh, I see. Now I get it.
We don't have volunteer fire companies here so I didn't know how that worked.

The house across the street from me was busted for drugs about 7 year ago. My DH was leaving our house and he saw the DEA use battering ram to go in through the side door. He came right back in to our house and we watched the bust through our living room window for over 2 hours, it was like watching "cops" live. Saw a couple people get tazered (sp) and DEA and police were everywhere. We live on a cul-de-sav, so needless to say we could not get out of our drive way.

Those folks are long gone and a very nice family now lives in the house.

A few years back, I walked out the door one morning and a swat team was mobilizing right in front of our house. They were converging on a house up the street where a single mom lived with her troublesome teenage sons. Not something you expect to see as you leave for work.

Wow, I live in a boring neighborhood. I've never seen a drug bust, or any kind of bust. The most action I've ever witnessed is someone getting pulled over by a police car for some violation on the road. I live a dull life.

I did hear that the police were in our neighborhood to arrest my neighbor's son and his wife one afternoon. The son is on probation from prison and I heard that the wife had drugs in her purse. I got all this secondhand from my next door neighbor. My kitchen/family room, where I spend the bulk of my time, is in the back of my home so I don't hear much going on in my street.
