I'm not bashing anyone in particular. But this issue was really, really bad. The projects in it look like they are circa 1998. Really bad. I'm assuming magazines aren't getting many submissions if this is what they chose to be published for inspiration. Wow.

I thought the same thing- unless they are trying to appeal to the beginner scrapper-??? But since I have been scrapping for many years, and often am looking for new or challenging or different ideas, I ended up flipping through pretty fast and got bored and put it down...it definately didn't grab me

I agree. Usually like the SBE but this issue stinks! Didn't see layouts from their usual contributers, only Leah Fung. You would think being a Dec. issue they'd have great holiday ideas. On the otherhand, I've been liking my last couple issues of CK.

I wasn't thrilled with it either and I wondered if there were others who felt the same way. I only flagged four pages and normally I do a whole bunch......this particular issue isn't a keeper for me. Wonder if this has anything to do with their "new and improved" look.

ETA: I've also been loving the last few issues of CK.

Whew...so it's not just me! I was shocked at the projects...nothing was inspiring...I didn't even go page by page, I did a quick scan and could tell that it wasn't good! I'm all for trying a new format...but this isn't good....

I haven't opened mine yet- saving for a trip, but I sure did notice that it was very thin- as compared to before....And it sure did not LOOK like a holiday issue...it looks almost like a summer issue...

I was just thinking today that CK might resume its place as the TOP scrapping magazine again..especially since there are very few anymore...
I bought another subscription with CK to show my 'support'...I sure hope they stay and the last 3 issues have been GREAT...

i haven't seen it yet, but now i'm dying to to look, not to buy! if the only designer "name" they can come up with is leah fung...well, i'll say her stuff is definitely not my style.

so sad, this used to be my favorite mag once upon a time

I thought it was ok, not great, but ok. I'm not fond of the switch to more lifestyle crafts, but I didn't like it when CK did it, either. SBE had all their regular contributors in there, not just Leah Fung, but there were also some new names I didn't recognize.

It's still nowhere as bad as Memory Makers got after it's overhaul.

Boring I hope they bring their standards back up. Not a time in the magazine industry to not be doing their best. I think they took the economical scrapping idea too far...looks juvenile.

wow - me too - to the point it made me sad about our hobby ..the direction things are headed. The next day I got CK and was whooed. I too bought a subscription hoping to support them. I want the mags, the LSS and EVENTS to make it.. seriously, these are some of the best times I've had and coolest people I've met. I don't want it die off.

Hope they have a meeting and rethink some of their creative direction. . it was sub-par for sure.

I have not received my issue yet. I guess I don't need to be to excited about getting it.

I would strongly encourage everyone to send an email to letter to let them know what you think of the new direction - unless they hear what readers/subscribers think, they won't know they need to make changes. I would be surprised if they didn't make changes to make it more wonderful if they hear from lots of us. It can't hurt!

I thought it was just me because I found this issue to be boring. Nothing in it really inspired me which is unusual since I've always loved Scrapbooks, Etc. (well since I discovered scrapbooking a year ago that is). I agree that Creating Keepsakes has had some really good issues lately. It's sad that our selection of scrapping mags is coming down to slim pickin's.

I was going to reply to mention that I liked a few things at the beginning of the magazine, but agree that the rest of the magazine was blah; however, I just found my magazine to find the pages I liked. I like the Prima ad, the Eskimo kisses ad and Leah Fung's way of making flowers on page 32. Guess that isn't saying much positive, is it? Hopefully next issue will be back to normal!

Hopefully there's something in there that's okay...color scheme, project idea???? Something?

I guess I must have different taste, but I found a lot of layouts that I liked. I loved the ones at the beginning of the issue in the Playing Favorites article. I also enjoyed the Christmas layouts in Holiday Helper on page 17. I liked the Cold Turkey layout on page 42, Gifts on page 63,A Chrithmuth Wish on pg 92, and Joy on pg. 100.

There are more, but these really stood out for me.

I haven't read the whole magazine yet, but I have to say that I was shocked and appalled when they recommended using magazine pages in place of patterned paper, among other "money-saving ideas." WTH? Yeah, THOSE layouts should last a few months before disintegrating, LOL.

I was also very disappointed. A few months ago - it was PERFECTION. Then they announced they were changing. I was like, "why?????"

I would love to see them print some Christmas morning type layouts. I need ideas for those things I have to scrap every year. I still need to look at it some more but I wasn't blown away like I normally am. Very sad.

I didn't see anything wrong with this issue-the layouts don't look all that different style-wise than the norm. Or maybe I'm just not perceptive. Anyway I just love getting new mags so I was pretty happy when it arrived.

I was very unimpressed. My subscription ended with the October issue, so I decided, with the re-style of the magazine, to buy a couple issues before I committed to another year. I'm glad I got it at B&N and got 10% off. I used to love this one, but I wasn't too excited about this issue.

I guess I have a different opinion about 1998 scrapping styles because I found lots of inspiration in this issue! LOL

Right off the bat, page 10--Laura Vegas's page is inspiring to me--I'm going to learn how to print those photo strips! And the daisy lace sewing type trim she used--I have some of that!

page 18--family traditions of hanukkah--great idea! and the LO, to me, shows how you can use non-traditional paper for holiday photos.

page 24--making your own pipe cleaner holly. I'd have never thought of this and while I might not use it on my scrapbook pages, I'll surely use it on another holiday project.

starting on page 32, I loved the great ideas on how to stretch your money while making budget-friendly cards.

And I loved the digital feature, now I know how to do a mask text.

Maybe it's not inspiring to you now, but it just might be later on!

Just my 2 cents!

I haven't read this mag in years since the projects looks so simple and well, just not good. I agree with the previous post that CK has been great. Bookmarked several pages this month. Between that and these 2peas layouts, I already spend too much time looking at layouts instead of creating them.

I have to agree with those who said this issue is a stinker. What a disappointment! I guess at this point I'll have to flip threw each issue to see if it's worth buying -- up until now I've always just bought it knowing that Scrapbooks Etc. is always awesome. There were so many layouts that I just couldn't believe were in there . . . that was seriously the best they could do for Nov/Dec? Incredible!

The page layout is very cluttered. My eyes had a hard time knowing where to rest on the page.

Nothing particularly inspired me. I flipped through it in about 15 minutes this afternoon.
