Good evening organizing peas!

Early again, I know... it looks like we're going to be getting quite a bit of snow this evening, so I may be out for the rest of the evening with my s/o plowing (as if I don't have better things to do; but hey, whatever makes him happy, right?)...

This week, part of the challenge is to post "before pictures" of your space, so I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to seeing eachother's disorganization/disarray.

Here are the links for Week 2:

Organize Your Stuff Challenge. Week 2. Brainstorming. This is the link to Wookiemouse's blog, which has all the information you'll need for each week's challenge.

Organize Your Stuff Challenge. Week 2. Brainstorming. This is the link to the Two Peas thread from the original challenge.

Question of the Week: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge?

Just this week, I've gotten three packages: Two Peas, Project Life, and Studio Calico, so now I've got even more stuff to organize. I'm done. No more shopping. I really have to concentrate on the task at hand now.

Oh, and one more thing, for anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to finish, here's the link for Week 1: Organize Your Stuff Challenge (2010) Week 1. Space Audit.

Here's the original "interest" thread from before we started the Organize Your Stuff Challenge: Anyone planning on starting the Organize Your Stuff Challenge next weekend? Just thought some of you may be interested in reading your initial reaction to this challenge. After all, I'm sure, the thought has crossed your mind atleast once by now: "What was I thinking?"

Good luck!

Hey there amazing girl! Thanks for this thread.
I did a layout (of course more practice for DYL 2010) and posted it Here

I've also posted before photos here

Question of the Week: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge?

While I can't say I'm finished buying for 28 weeks, but I'm definitely not planning to buy anything until for probably 16 weeks. Unless of course it's white card stock. Is that fair???

Off to read wookiemouse posts

Outback, nice layout! Right away I recognized the balance and symmetry

As for your scraproom, LOVE the color! And your ribbon organization is very pretty. I would try that but I think my cat would have a field day with it, haha!

Ok. I will try.

You have a good point. I know it would be good to wait especially on buying any containers, etc. at least until we know what/how we want to organize.

I don't know if I can make it the entire challenge without buying but I will try. I am in the same boat as j*scraps in fighting the urge to buy organizing stuff. So far I have not bought anything but I have been purging and trying to make a plan for my room with what would be the perfect room for me.

I took before pics and tried posting on last weeks post but did not work. How do I make a link to my before pics? New at this!

I haven't bought anything new for ages - and I think I'm right in saying that apart from adhesive, the last new things I bought were tools (a die & a non-stick mat) Oh, and I replaced a worn out/dried up ink pad

I no longer buy "for fun" - I buy because I need something specific. I suspect I will need to buy black & kraft cardstock very soon - I'm down to a few sheets of black & no kraft, but other than that unless it directly rpelaces something used up (eg the ink pad) then it's not coming in!

Well, not a lot to do this week then!
I am currently in rented accomodation & hope to move house soon
There is no point at all "designing" a scrap space - I can't do anything to the one I have now & I don't know until I know where I', moving to whether I'll have a 3ft closet or a 10x10 room when I move!

My before pictures won't be what they would have a few weeks ago... Ijust did a big cleanup so it doesn't look TOO bad. But I'll post them anyway!
I am planning to reduce the amount I buy, at least. There will always be the need to buy adhesives and such, but I've been trying to use up more of what I have. I do still buy a small bit here and there, but not much.

I've not decided to stop buying, but that's because I'm only getting a monthly kit. Haven't shopped in an online store or LSS in ages. I quite like it that way. I've no sense of what's fashionable anymore. Because of this I have a better sense of what I like.

I won't be brainstorming, because I know I won't make huge changes in my space... But I'll post my beforephotos over the weekend, and then we'll see over the weeks what happens

I have a layout of my before pictures.

Will I buy anything? Hmm, I'd love to say no, however, I haven't shopped in some time, and I do have a hobby lobby gift card burning a hole in my pocket from Christmas... so no promises!

I haven't purchased anything since summer of last year and don't intend on buying anything until I actually need something. I don't see that happening in 2010. I am planning on purging. This is the great year of the disappearing possessions. I am doing this throughout my home this year. I just have too much stuff. I still feel the temptation because a lot of my love of scrapbooking was my love of buying the stuff. Now I am drowning in it.

I decided early in December that I'm not buying anything until July (my birthday) unless I run out of something specifically (like glue or a certain color of cardstock). The goal is to use enough to fit it all comfortably and neatly into my space.

Crisann - Re question last week on your paint colour, I like the blue. I think the taupe will make your trim look off. I noticed at Home Depot they have "sample" tins of paint so you could try out a few colours before to commit to one.

Question of the Week: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge?

I'm not committing to that quite yet I haven't been able to scrap in over a year so I resubbed to a couple of kit clubs and I'm excited to get a few packages for the next couple of months. I WILL committ to staying out of M's, LSS and online shopping though. I just stocked up on some ATG tape so I'm good for awhile.

Off to take a picture of the disaster

there's absolutely no reason why i should be shopping for 2010 and probably unitl 2012...but there's something about new products...when i see them or when someone post how wonderful the item is....i end up purchasing it...i know...i don't need it all and this year...i plan to do better

I won't be posting a picture, but imagine, if you will, a room full of boxes and odds and ends. As if someone moved into a house, asked "where does this go?" and was answered "just stick it in that room over there and we'll deal with it later." If fact, that's just what happened, and that's my room, and it's later.

Question of the Week: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge?
I stopped buying awhile ago. I can't scrap until I unpack my stuff, and I can't unpack unless I have a place to put it.

I don't have any pictures but I have about 4 different shelves in different areas of the apt. Since I only have a scrap area. I'm trying to organize and minimize things to my desk area and 1..maybe 2 shelves and no more.

I'm definitly trying not to buy anything. The only thing I might have to buy is black cardstock ( I seem to go through alot of that) and adhesive. My goal this year is to use up what I have.

I have a 2peas gc to use and DH promised me the new albums I needed from A's as a present for making dean's list. Other than that I doubt I'll be shopping... unless I find new doodlebug. There's always room for more doodlebug. (I'm also not counting the 4x4 expedit, dresser, and shelving I plan to get from Ikea)

So here's my fantastic mess. my space It definitely needs some color. The big green recliner is coming out and a futon is going in. A bunch of stuff that currently resides in the spare room has to fit in here as well.

Yes, I definitely have decided I don't need to buy any more stuff - except the actual organizing stuff - until the end of this challenge. There's stuff I want, but I've got absolutely no where to put it so I'm NOT buying it!

I had been reading the original 2009 challenge before we all decided to do it again for 2010, so I had a head start on the first two weeks, which I'm glad about, since I've already brainstormed and decided to redo my shelf space. With M's having their cubes and other organizing stuff on sale the last two weeks it worked out great - I've been able to get my shelves all set up!

And I went ahead and painted my room a nice sunny yellow while I was at it. It sure cheers me up now to be working in there on these cold old gray days!

I can't quite make that commitment (although I should), but I have been really good about not buying what I like and buying only what I really can't live without/love. So I keep supporting my LSS (and the one kit I get) in a small way and my stash isn't growing completely out of control.

I am WAY too embarrassed to post pictures, but I've taken them and I'm putting them on my inspiration board to keep me motivated to change it.

ummm, no. Not me. I was on a scrap diet over at the Calendar Girls the beginning of '09 and lasted for almost 6 months I think. I think I may have even had withdrawals No, I really LOVE shopping for scrap stuff,

Just found this challenge and posted on the week 1 thread. Now I'm off to read the week 2 challenge and take some photos of my space.

I enjoy reading each post, as it forces me to think more about my own space and what is and isn't working. There are tons of ideas floating around here!

UPDATE:

I took some photos and uploaded to the gallery. Here's hoping this link works ...

Question of the Week: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge?

Minimal shopping for me as I'm sticking to a self-imposed budget. Might even try selling-off some stuff in order to purchase new organizing/room decor items. The fake tree is going and I'm looking for ideas to utilize that corner. Maybe a tiered open ladder shelf? Ideas anyone?

I have made myself a promise a few months ago to not buy as many things as I did before from budgetstores or sales just because there cheap. I do have way to much stuff and most of the time I'm not using this cheap offers.

This will be a good start.
I know I will be buying some paper and cardstock, as well as storage solutions if they help me finish this challenge. I did get a Cuttlebug this Christmas, so I *need* to buy some embossingfolders/ dies for that to make it work otherwise it stands there gathering dust...

I'm up to the task... Since I was last to post for Week 1 I'm not last this time.
Here are my pics ...yes it's a mess and as you look realize how many places things are in. I have been using the kitchen table to do my scrap and cards...Now I want the basement as my beachside resort up in Northern Wisconsin where I'm just on Lake Superior hearing the lap of the water and the squeal of the gulls! White trim and a counter-Granite like with accents of a trellis, trees, and the beach-AHHHHHHH! Oh, a a canoe (Knoo= knoozer)too!

You'll also note in the pics a bread maker w/ fresh bread just made. A group of Korean International Students, from my husbands high school. Jonathan,is ours for 4 years and they love to make meals or cinnamon rolls at our house and snowshoes that my DH is making from scratch.Jonathan has made his pair of snowshoes this season and used them. DH or Jeff is on his 5th pair this season. We live in a 1100 sq.ft. Cape Cod home. Our space is small, but it shows alot of fun we have!

My basement is going to be unearthed in hopes of the ultimate spot to scrap...I think towards the window...thinking now.... looking at the beach and the trees behind and in front of me. Yeah, (a phone and computer will be necessary-rats) I like the silence and the water!

So...here I go and please, I hope there's someone else out there with my same mess. Oh well, as said, I can only go up! Fly with the birds!

PLEASE HELP I can't post my pics or don't know how to....!!!! I think I have it .. but not the way I would like to have it.

Here are my pics Please go to: cknoozer, click on: my photos Challenge Organizing Stuff 2010 Wk 2 before pics

Ok, in for a penny, in for a pound...
Here are my before-photos. It doesn't look too bad, I think - but I must admit it's worse than it looks. I have too much stuff and it's not well organized.

Wow for week one, girls! I realized I work best if my table surface is completely clear - so off came the tool tote, the stackable wire shelves, the papers and other stuff.

Here's the link to my Week 1 LO and scraproom before pics after I cleared off the desk.
Week 1

What worked:
I love my desk made from Container Store shelving.
Drawers hold adhesives, punches, stamps - easy to pull out, use, put back

What didn't work:
Pictures in several different places.
Embellishments are in several different places.
Cricut, Revolution and computer were in different room.

QOW: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge? Me! Me! I was getting overwhelmed by the choices. I'm hoping to purge a little more, be challenged to use what I have, and organize so that I can move back and forth from my scrapping to my sewing as the mood strikes.

Scrap Fairy; A clean, organized, well-lit space, with color-coordinated organization bins, where everything is accessible (especially most used items), a wall gallery to display most recent projects, a "home" for all of the stray books that don't have shelves, a desk to use for scrapbooking (and home business stuff). When I walk into the room I want to feel inspired (rather than embarrassment or dread). Seriously, the room is like a garage right now.

Here are my before pics. Before Pics Totally captured as is. I was tempted to clean up a bit, but wanted to be open & honest.

Question of the Week: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge?

I don't need to purchase anything else. All I need to do is purchase albums for my layouts (which are all homeless & living in a bin shelter) and alphabet stickers (can never have too much of that). I also need to purchase a desk (preferably "L" shaped) or two separate desks. My dream desk is one of those Pottery Barn Style Project work tables.

I really don't need to much unless someone orders something I don't have. I do need picture frames, storage boxes-which I keep bouncing back and forth on and thinking what"s practical and I'll get the most use of. HUMMMM

Sorry if my earlier post was difficult to see my pics. If anyone knows how to do this better by all means p'mail me.

QOTW: Other than some cardstock and adhesive, there is definitely very little reason for me to buy any more supplies for a while!

I didn't take any before pics of my organizing this weekend, but I went through all my cardstock and (re)organized them by color/shade and labled everything.

I also organized similarly themed papers/embellishments and categorized them: Christmas, each season (and corresponding holidays), travel, family, wedding, baby/girl, etc.

dnikki - check out the knock-off table at Target:

http://www.target.com/Adams-Craft-Tabletop-Soft-Black/dp/B000EPXFBW/sr=1-2/qid=1263163979/ref=sr_1_2/188-6358664-5054064?ie=UTF8&search-alias=tgt-index&frombrowse=0&index=target&rh=k%3Acraft%20table&page=1

It's about half the cost of the PB table and often has a rebate offer on it (when I bought it, I got $200 in Target gift cards as a rebate!). I have one and it's held up beautifully, I would highly recommend it.

Good Evening Ladies!

QOTD: Ummm, I'm not doing so good! Hit Michaels and the LSS with my girlfriend today...what can I say I "needed" the stuff!

Here's my space...looks organzied, but as you open drawers you realize it's just a big mess!

So while it looks somewhat organized on the surface...it's really not! The computer is in the opposite corner of my desk, so that works well and I love my overall space, but I do have some problem areas...
1. Desk, crop tote and 12 X 12 paper storage
2. Overall view of space
3. Shelving - the orange basked contains a zillion embellishments and they are in no order!
4. Cricut, Tool Caddy, and more embellishment boxes! Ughh
5. Stamps (working ok)
6. 8 1/2 X 11 Cardstock and junk!
7. Misc Cutting stuff
8. Crop bags and more storage
9. Top of my desk, stacks of paper to be filed, project folders that need to be gone through, chip board albums with no home etc.

Thanks ladies! It really is deceiving though...everything that is "out of sight" is just a clustered mess. I need permanent homes for works in progress, chipboard albums and most embellishments....that's my BIG problem area!

Question of the Week: How many of you have decided there's really no need to do any more shopping, atleast not anytime soon, like maybe not until the end of this challenge?

I have to agree with no need to do anymore shopping or doing it just for fun as well. I started to find myself shopping in the 1.99 deals at Archivers or waiting till i had a coupon worth using. Our move was what did it for me. It was definitely a pain to move everything and try to keep it organized at the same time so I didn't feel overwhelmed. I started to noticed that i had so much. I did just buy 40 sheets of mm paper at ross for 4.18 and I didn't feel bad about it even though I haven't scrapbooked in almost a year. I am fasting I guess in a sense towards scrapbooking because I am working on business receipts and filing work stuff from when I used to be self employed. I told myself that I can't play in scrapbooking until I get this goal accomplished. I did organize all of my stuff already though, my scrap space has been very tidy since our move here. I don't have any pictures of the before but I do have the after. I will post it in my gallery. I do miss my old space alot more though.

I just posted my room... YIKES! Please Beware... it is BAAAAAAD!

I really dont know what I want yet in terms of my "dream" room so I will have to give this part of the challenge some serious thought. I know Im not supposed to take money into consideration but since my budget needs to be very low until i can justify it by actually using the space I kinda have to. So I guess I will modify this part and suffice it to say what is the dream setup for me using what I already have in the room or repurposing something from elsewhere in the house. That should be a challenge in itself! Gotta give that some deep thoughts!

As for not shopping?? Uhhhh... I think I can handle that with the exception or organization stuff! I have spent MAYBE $20 in the last three years so I dont think it will be a problem! How SAD is that?

Good morning ladies!

Just a little excerpt from Week 3. Clean Slate: "This week, no more lists-you're going to start seeing results."

Thought it might give you ladies something to look forward to...

Exciting, isn't it? All this planning stuff is coming to an end and we're finally going to roll up our sleeves, wade knee-deep in scrap supplies, and go get the rooms of our dreams...
